    This election was far, FAR closer than the 2020 election and Al still didn't fuck around like an egocentric baby and claim the election was 'stolen'. He even won the popular vote here, unlike 2020.

      @@RB01.10 Stop blaming Ralph Nader for George W. Bush and accept the fact that your favorite Albert Gore lost because he was a mediocre at best candidate. Dude couldn't even win his homestate of TN. Plus, he picked Joseph Lieberman, a right wing moral crusader basically catfishing as a leftist, as his running mate. Lieberman later went on to support the Iraq War, as did Gore btw, and Joe later gave a speech at the 2008 RNC and endorsed Jonathan McCain that same year. There is no such thing as voter siphoning, either. With that, 3rd parties don't get Republicans elected. And anyone 35 or older can seek the presidency regardless of their chances of winning. What you are doing is Scapegoating, in addition to voter shaming.

    Just think about this. 271 to 266, and Gore had the popular vote. Yet Gore had the class and humility to insist that the upholding of the American system of government was more important than any one given election, and sincerely took the position of supporting the new president. I really do think this speech is one of the most important speeches given in modern history. While there was no doubt lingering bitterness among many his supporters in the years following, Gore's speech here tempered that bitterness in a way that no doubt restrained the nation from taking that bitterness to the level of utter insanity. Perhaps second only to the galvanizing effect of 9/11, I suspect that this speech was probably more responsible for unifying the country than historians can calculate.
    "Let there be no doubt, while I strongly disagree with the court's decision, I accept it. I accept the finality of this outcome, which will be ratified next Monday in the Electoral College. And tonight, for the sake of our unity as a people and the strength of our democracy, I offer my concession.
    I also accept my responsibility, which I will discharge unconditionally, to honor the new president-elect and do everything possible to help him bring Americans together in fulfillment of the great vision that our Declaration of Independence defines and that our Constitution affirms and defends."
    Pure class. None of this "not my president" rhetoric. No perpetual sowing of discord. He stood by and defended the American way of government. I will return to this speech periodically throughout my life, to reminisce about how this kind of civility in American politics used to actually be possible, and may one day be again. Gore may not have written this speech, but the fact that Gore delivered it with sincerity and honor makes it his, and makes it real.
    Can American politics ever return to this kind of class? Maybe. Just maybe. It's up to us.

      @@goldenphoenix7290 here is the problem though: all the evidence you gave me (which is all untrue but there is no point challenging it seeing as thats how you have been taught) does not prove that Trump won. All those ballots that were “thrown out” could all have been Biden ballots for all we know. This is all based off of an assumption that only Democrats tried to rig the election, and not republicans.
      For the record, I am left leaning but I am not necessarily a Biden Supporter and I am certainly not a democrat. You just have to acknowledge that Biden won this election fairly and according to the rules, just like Trump did in 2016, and just how Bush did in 2000.

The media took Gore’s side just like they are doing with Biden. The only difference is if some of these illegitimate ballots end up adding up enough to turn the election, democrats aren’t going to “call for unity” they aren’t going to be civil. They will riot, pillage and destroy just like they have been through our cities for the last year.

      @@flixytip4571 This isn’t an opinion but a fact, your ballot was 30 times more likely to get thrown out during the primaries that used mail in balloting earlier this year, then those for this election. You can’t explain a change in numbers like that without putting those ballots legitimacy into question. If the ballots ARE legitimate then why bar people from observing them? If you aren’t doing anything shady, why be less transparent then more transparent?

      @@welldonebrainn, you might be right. I think that Gore and Bush were two of the most similar candidates in a modern presidential election. Their policy differences were slight in the grand scheme of things, but their core values were different. For example, ask them what the top tax rate should be or their positions on prescription drug programs, and their answers might have been somewhat similar, but ask them what moments of 20th century American history inspired hope in them, and the differences would have been stark. Given how terribly consequential the first 5 years of the Millenium turned out to be, I think Gore would likely have been able to avoid mass domestic surveillance and intractable wars in Asia.

Just because the media predicts Biden is going to win, doesn’t mean he has won, it means nothing. Their will be litigation and legal processes to follow just as there was in 2000, and then when the result is declared by the Supreme Court, a candidate will concede - most like we will watching Joe Biden give a speech like this in the coming months, and it will be much more embarrassing for him after he has already claimed victory.

      He's actually a good person but was surrounded by advisers who weren't and he himself made a few bad mistakes from the goodness of his heart. He created PEPFAR to fight AIDS in Africa. As of 2019, it has been credited with saving 13 millions African lives. Before Bush came into office, the US spent $1.4b in humanitarian and development aid in Africa. Within 1 year, Bush increased that figure to $5.6b. He made it easier for minorities and low income Americans to own houses because he believed it's part of the American dream. (Note: This played a role in the 2008 housing crash. Clinton and republicans as well as democrats contributed as well. So did Alan Greenspan). I think he, as the son of a former president, had his advisers picked out for him, and they picked the wrong people.

The mean age of all US presidents at the time of their inauguration is around 55 years. Trump was 70, Biden will be 78, both of them are too old, it's not just Trump vs Biden
