    Does it work with Home Assistant?

    Great review - especially checking on the time outs and dog vs. human. I’ve been waiting for something like this that works well but given the in-ceiling mounting, I’ll likely wait for our next house. I really see these as the answer to working with turning lights on and off far better than motion sensors (at least regarding turning off the lights).
    I have the room sensors that are part of the Ecobee system, but they are not great as presence sensors - operating more like motion detectors with a long timeout. Using your review sensors, you can really do a great pairing with the after market vents that are controllable by the Ecobee thermostat where the vents can be closed as soon as human presence is no longer detected. This can really save a lot of money in the summer.

      Thanks. There are some products out there that either are or contain what are usually described as ‘occupancy sensors’ but they aren’t like this device, and I think they usually just combine a motion sensor with another form of detection, like sound for example, to determine whether someone is in the room.

    I love this! My only wish would be Thread support so it doesn’t rely on a separate hub. Mostly because of the smart home brands that go out of business and their products become paperweights. Directly interfacing with HomeKit via Thread removes that risk. The added cost of another hub is a bummer too

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  Před 2 lety +1

      Thread would be nice, and maybe Aqara will eventually bring a Thread version. However, Aqara’s updated Presence Sensor (FP2) will actually use WiFi instead of Zigbee, due to the extra bandwidth required for the added functionality it will have, so Thread wouldn’t be powerful enough for that.

      Hi, I can’t find an IP rating on the company’s website, but I’ll enquire in case it’s something they have information on, but have neglected to include.

    Nice. Thanks for the review. Can I ask?
    1. It does come with the hub and ready for use without any extra device, yeah?
    2. Does it detect day and night? meaning even during day time, if it detects human presence the light turns on? or just night time only? if you have the option to set?
    3. How much is it?
    Thanks again for the review - love the channel

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi, the hub is a separate purchase. You would need the hub for it to work, even if you don’t want to use it with HomeKit, as it uses Zigbee, which requires a hub. The amount of light doesn’t have any effect on its ability to detect human presence, but with the ambient light sensor it’s possible to customise your automations more finely: detect presence, turn on the lights, but only if the ambient light levels are below 50lx, as an example. As for the price, it’s still being shipped out to distributors, so at the moment I don’t have any price range to show unfortunately.

      @@homekitnews Nice! thanks for sharing your knowledge.
      Oh, which hub would you recommend for this?

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  Před 2 lety

      @Patrick Stevensonn you would need the hub featured in the video (LifeSmart Smart Station) if you want it exposed to HomeKit. If you aren’t interested in HomeKit but want a sensor like this as part of a security system, the company make a Smart gateway that’s also an alarm system, called DEFED. This gateway will be Matter compatible apparently, which then should make it HomeKit compatible too.

    How fast it detect human entering room? Have delay, like 1 second or more? At typical 1 floor height, how many m2 are it should cover? It's possible use multiple sensors to cover one bigger room.. Example, all 3 sensors need stop detect presence at same time to power off ligh.. Any of 3 sensor detect presence, will turn on light.. Only this way, with those features it could become solid product better than conventional wall switch, turning on and off lights inside house automatically

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  Před 2 lety +1

      0.5 seconds to detect human motion. The coverage depends on the preset you choose. If you have more than one sensor in a room, you need to ensure the radar from one device doesn’t overlap with the other device’s radar range.

      Hi, I can’t say for sure, but it’s likely that it is, as it’s based on a similar Tuya device.

    Great video thank you for sharing. Are you able to set the sensor on a schedule? For example only between the hours of midnight to 6am to notify you of human presence?
    Thanks

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  Před rokem +1

      Yes, although in HomeKit you would do it in a slightly different way; you would create an automation whereby the motion sensor is triggered, and then activates a device (light or AC for example), but set it so that the sensor only triggers the automation between certain hours. The automations section in the LifeSmart app is really overly complex, but you could probably deactivate the sensor at certain times. I just couldn’t get past the really poor implementation of their automation logic unfortunately.

    I bought these based on this video (they took 3 months to come!) but now I have the gateway and app and theres no option to set these specific sensors up. Did you use a developer mode or something?

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  Před rokem

      Hi, no I’m just using the regular app. It’s listed in the app under sensors. imgur.com/a/o7ThNGw - just to check, do you have the latest hub with Zigbee? There’s an older model (much older) that only uses the 433MHz wireless protocol.

  • @lilayuwana

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  Před rokem

      The Tuya WiFi version doesn’t require a hub, but it’s also not going to be exposed to HomeKit, if that’s something you wanted.

      It’s a bit scarce at present, so it depends on where you are. One of their European distributors is based in Poland, and has them in stock, and distributor in Australia and the Middle East have them apparently.
