►SCRIPT
So let’s load up the song we’re going to use and pick a spot we want our song to start from.
For this example, I want the song to start right about here, because this is the most well known section of the song.
Next let’s set our tempo range to WIDE, and turn off Key Lock or Master Tempo.
And now, let’s select our echo effect, and set its rate to 1/4, and bring its dry/wet knob to the 9pm position.
Now here’s how to get that vinyl break stopping effect on Rekordbox DJ and Serato DJ
In Rekordbox DJ, go to settings, then click controller, then at the vinyl speed adjust section, bring the touch/brake knobs of decks 1, 3 and 2,4, to the 3 o clock position
And in Serato DJ, go to settings, then at the DJ Preferences Section, bring the Stop Time Knob to the 12pm position
Now with our track and settings set, let’s now do this trick
So the first thing you wanna do is set a loop at 1/4 at the section you want your song to start from.
next bring the tempo fader all the way to the top,
then activate your echo effect and play your song at the same time, and work on gradually bringing that tempo fader all the way to the bottom.
Once you’re there. Deactivate the echo effect and stop your track at the same time, then quickly bring the tempo fader to the neutral position, then finally trigger and play your song from the cue point you set a while ago.
If you guys wanna add more impact to this trick, I suggest using a crash sound sample or subdrop sample.

Hey Carlo, thanks a lot for the tutorial! I’m trying to replicate this on a Denon Prime 2. When you stop the track and move the pitch slider to the neutral position… is the stopping sound coming from the vinyl break or from something else? I’m a bit confused because in your transition example the vinyl break from the previous song seems to be pretty short. It seems I need different vinyl speed settings on each deck, maybe I’m missing something?
The stopping sound comes from your unit, via the vinyl break settings. Once you fix that, you'll be good to go!

Amazing tutorial, but i just have 1 question: How do you activate the wide effect on Serato?
Depends on your controller, but there should be options on the physical interface to adjust the range from the standard +/-8 to Wide.

I had this idea, wondering your thoughts on it. I want to take my Akai MPK mini and set it up to control fx and nobs that the DDJ400 doesn't have enough buttons for. Maybe use the pads for samples etc. Any idea if this is possible with rekordbox dj? For example using the analog nobs to control multiple color FX. If you think the topic is interesting I would def be into that video. Always enjoy your content, keep it coming!

Hi Carlo,can you help my case,I use the DDJ 400 with Virtual DJ but I can not tighten the loop by turning the jogwheel clockwise as you did in this video,It doesn't work. I press and hold the "Out" button but when I hit the button,the hole loop is out.
I guess the DDJ-400 and Virtual DJ don't work too well with each other....
I'm not familiar with VDJ, so I can't really say much about it too

Nice trick! I find it pretty useful, but what if I have a software that doesn't allow a so tight loop, like Serato DJ Lite? Are there any methods to do this technique with only a 1 bar loop?
Not quite. The full 1 bar loop might be long to tighten up the trick. I recommend upgrading to DJ Pro. It's totally worth it!

Unfortunately, I'm not too well-versed with VDJ's interface, but the effects should all exist on it! Try tinkering around with the program with your mixer, and you should be able to create your own epic DJ loop!
this is similar to the trick you showed us to do on the 1000s with the in and out loop feature
