    Finally my wife and I could drive the C1 ourselves. The result of the 60 km ride in the city, on country roads and on the motorway is very clear. The C1 is a positive surprise.
    As drivers of a Peugeot 208 ehdi 92 (small car segment) we wanted to find out if the Citroën C1 (minicar segment) was an equivalent option. And big surprise: It really is!!!
    Here are the reasons for this statement and the impressions of our test drive.
    1. The car is quite spacious on the front seats.
    2. The driver's and codriver's seats are really comfortable and can keep up with the ones in our 208.
    3. We like the adjustment of the backrest via hand wheel.
    4. The car is very handy, the steering wheel, the seating position, the dials, the touchscreen, the climate control, everything is just fine and easy.
    5. The styling of the interior meets our taste pretty perfectly
    6. The engine (82 hp meet 900 kg of weight!) delivers a very good performance.
    7. A light and direct steering, strong brakes, light and smooth gear shifting and a sensitive, easy to handle clutch make the driving very pleasing.
    8. The car is very small and very light. Our average fuel consumption was 4.6 liters per 100 km.
    9. The trunk is big enough for a cello case if the back seats are folded down.
    10. The exterior design of the car is very well done.
    There are many more positive aspects of the C1 we could mention. And there is not one detail that is in any way disturbing.
    The missing centimeters on the back seats or in the trunk don't matter in our situation. 99 % of the time there are not more than two people in the car. That's why we would go for the three door version. The access to the front seats is even more comfortable, the front cabin looks even more spacious and the car gets almost a coupe style appearance. If, which doesn't happen very often, someone has to climb on the back seats the C1 will offer a perfect and clever easy entry system.
    We also drove, by the way, the airscape version with the big electric sunroof. That's actually the only downside of the little car we could find. The wind noise gets loud from 70 km/h on as Thomas had stated as well. So we won't go for the softtop version. That also gives some extra centimeters of headspace, especially in the back.
    All convertible fans, please forgive us ;-)
    To sum it up we can say we have found "our successor" for our Peugeot 208 Euro 5 Diesel.
    A last critical statement concerning car dealers in general.
    Sentences like "the Diesel is environment friendly", "environment problems are just exaggerated" are only a few sad examples. The only thing that seems to count is making money.
    Confronted with the loud wind noise of the airscape version the salesman said it was on purpose?!?
    You better inform yourself very well on your own.
    A very good first step are high quality car channels like Autogefühl.

    Thanks Thomas for the great video. I have watched it several times. And I am discovering new aspects each time.
    I think Citroen as well as Peugeot and Toyota did a great job creating this car. It is a very sympathic vehicle. But of course (like other cars in the minicar segment) not perfect. The great thing about the minis is, like you often said, that you realize: Hey, this car has got all you need. And it makes life so easy.
    Continue the good work!

    you show in a neutral way that every car - small - midsize - luxury - has it' s right to exist, it' s just a question of personal needs and what you can afford, but within the expectations of a cheap mini-convertible the c1 doesn't seem to have big mistakes. That's what I found out with that nice review. Just the consuption, aiii, my fiesta from 2003 needed about 5,5 ltr. petrol in the city.

    You need a special cable from Citroen to connect your iPhone with the system. It doesn't work with just a standard USB cable. Some Android phones do work with a standard cable but the MirrorScreen system itself is terrible. Also the small list of compatible phones is not good.
    I would be very interested in a comparison of different infotainment systems that are on offer with different new cars these days. Is there any system that works well?

    The engine, suspension and chassis design are from Daihatsu, not Toyota, Thomas! As Toyota owns 50% of Daihatsu, Toyota "stole" it and sold it to Citroën and Peugeot and used it in the Aygo. The only technical difference Toyota allowed Daihatsu was longer final drive, which makes the Daihatsu Cuore somewhat more economical on fuel than the others.

    • @darcychu9652
      @darcychu9652 Před 6 lety

      Ronald de Rooij
      Really cannot say "stole" from Daihatsu because Toyota is holding Daihatsu.
      However Daihatsu is really good at small engines. Those Toyotas with engines smaller than 1600 c.c. are using engines from Daihatsu.

    • @cargueone1971
      @cargueone1971 Před 6 lety

      They cannot steal something they own. They let Daihatsu engineer the smaller engine units, since Daihatsu specializes on it. Why own something that you can't keep the engineers busy? Other wise they would just sell it.

    • @darcychu9652
      @darcychu9652 Před 6 lety

      Ronald de Rooij
      Daihatsu could be the best automaker specialized in little cars with small engines in Japan. This may be the reason why Toyota held Daihatsu, to complement deficiency.

    NA is called a SUGIS in sweden. Unfortunately because of the EU we don't need to drive with our lights on all the time, taillights can be turned off during the day since 2012, this has caused a lot of confusion. You can now drive with only front DRL if the weather is clear. However, people drive with the light switch on AUTO, and it's very slow to turn on the taillights when it gets dark and foggy, some new cars are pitch black from behind during the dark. It's not possible with an older car that has 0 / parking-lights / high beam light switch because the lights are always on when the car is on.

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  Před 6 lety

      You mean the newer cars drive with the daytime running light, right?

    • @natjavlanamn
      @natjavlanamn Před 6 lety +1

      I would agree with Lucas. There are lots of cars with DRL that don't automatically turn the normal driving lights on. Even the newer DRL-equipped cars (which are legally required to turn on their lights automatically at night) are too slow to turn the lights on - especially with the prolonged evenings in the summer close to the arctic circle. The result is lots of cars driving around with poor lighting ahead and no lights at all at the rear. The traffic news at many radio stations have actually started to remind people to turn their lights on during the evenings. I understand the idea of the brake light being more visible in daytime when the rest of the rear lights are off, but in the northern parts of the EU it's idiotic. And it's not only the lighting at the rear - the undirected light from the from DRL blind oncoming traffic under any circumstances other than clear daylight. The annoyance we feel is probably in part due to the contrast to the previous legislation which meant that everyone drove with their lights on and were visible no matter the circumstances (dark, fog, etc).

    Putting the car in neutral to save fuel is stupid. If you coast in gear, the engine won't use any fuel, as the wheels are driving the engine, but if you put the car in neutral, then the engine will have to use some fuel just to keep running. Also, so have more control of the car if you leave it in gear

    • @g00dfeeling

      You have just invented Perpetuum mobile. Eureka :D

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  Před 8 lety +3

      +Paul Hojda I think you didnt properly listen. Scroll back to the mi:sec and listen again: If you want to let the car roll as far as possible, put it in neutral, so the rolling length will be more important than the neutral gas consumption. If you want to brake the car at the very same time, it makes more sense to leave the car in gear as the consumption is 0. We have tested the different methods in a milage run, we went with the only-in-gear-method and scored like 4 litres / 100 km with Citroen Cactus, other team went for the putting-it-in-neutral-method and scored 2,8 l / 100 km. Thats a HUGE difference on the long run (testing was 500 km or smth). There is no question at all, that this method works. Another proof is that the car manufacturers offer the sailing function for the automatic gear boxes. Why would they do this if it didnt work? The sailing functions put the car in neutral and let it roll so you can roll as long as possible. It is the same with recuperation in electric cars. If you go down a hill and WANT to brake the car, it is great to recuperate, however if you want to let the car roll as long as possible, it is better to shut the recuperation off and use all the rolling energy you have. Conclusion: If you should go in neutral or not depends on how far away the next traffic light is you want to reach without hitting the throttle anymore :)

    • @BrianAndTheBike
      @BrianAndTheBike Před 8 lety

      thats not right. control is a cualitatative value not cuantititave as fuel and the fuel savings depends on the time that the car runs in neutral
