What about causal closure and physicalist account of mind? Why would there be the ability to have free will if all neurons are forced to generate X,Y,Z thoughts?
It wouldn't matter to a compatibilist, they distinguish two types of freewill, (1) principle of alternative possibility and (2) moral responsibility/culpability, they define freewill as (2), that all what is needed for moral responsibility is that the person is self-aware of his choices/choosing. Strawson also gave an account of personhood which shows that as long as a person has not just beliefs/judgements, but beliefs about beliefs, that is sufficient for personhood and moral responsibility/freedom.
