haha now I see why ya'll liked my comment from last week requesting more space wolves videos!
I've seen so many Space Wolves videos in the past couple of weeks. Almost like me choosing them as my forst army was meant to be! Cant wait to start painting them this weekend!
🎉I’m new to 40k and doing space wolves to
These are the coolest Space Wolves I've seen. Usually they're all edge highlighted, which I do like, but these look even better and more realistic.
I'm quite happy to see a lot of the Warhammer painting community moving away from the cartoonish 'Eavy Metal style and moving more toward its own more weathered semi-Grim Dark or full on Grim Dark style.
Not a Wolves player but I always love the speed painting videos from you guys because there's tips you can apply to any scheme.
Perfect timing, thank you Henry & Ben
Great video! Thank you. Being a first gen Wolves player (mostly painter these days) I take flack for my "baby blue" paint scheme, but this one looks dark enough without being OTT.
I love the white shoulder pad instead of the normal yellow one. Very cool!
Ben's stuff always looks awesome, thanks for sharing the recipe.
Thankyou!
A good time saver for black lining in a 005 micron pen (pigma make a black and colour set).
DEATH GUARD! Would love to see a kind of grim dark speed paint for this grimy boys, especially given the complete lack of love for their army rules :(
I am just starting a Wolf combat patrol , this was very useful , many thanks
Space wolves are always gonna get a like from me!
Awesome as always.
Amazing work as always. I would love to see your approach for Genestealer Cults. Theyre such an amazing model range, but you need to get through SO many models. Seeing your take on it would be absolutely phenomenal as you always bring that touch of gritty realism that would suit the range extremely well. It is also a very cool Combat Patrol.
Great suggestion!
Beautiful!
Motivation restored! This made me going back to paint my Imperial Fist army :D
.......... good??
wow those look great, ill come back to this when the wolves get their refresh with russ too hopefully
Dark Angels, please! I'd love to see CoP's take on a grim dark speed paint for the (good?) Boys in Green.
outrageous!!
I absolutely love Pro-Acryl.
Very cool! 👍🏻
Wow that's a really good result for how fast it was. I'll have to try it for a Kill Team!
How about a Deathwatch marine next with a bit of kit-bashing? They're one of the coolest Astartes forces.
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
Amazing look Henry, could you please do a Black Templar edition just like this? I love your other BT videos, but I'd love to have a grimdark tutorial for my regular initiates and dreads! Thanks
Black legion is my favorite black. So much better than any other black GW has put out
Nice chip tutorial apart from anything.
Would love to see what you would do with Tau!
Love to see a squad of Marines painted in the 'storm trooper' colour sceme from episode 4.
Dirty weather/battle warn white, with that burnt orange shoulder pad.
I enjoy your channel a great deal. I have colour perception issues, so certain colour concepts i simply cannot attemp.
I would love to see you have a go at this though. Or chaos Raptors/warp talons
Mmmhmmm, that's a good-looking army!
Looks great, Henry. Love seeing Ben's scheme and your approach to it. I had a good laugh at "I hate using Screaming Skull."
If you have a second, do you mind elaborating on why you prefer to black out areas before applying metallics? I remember this being a big thing a decade or so ago, but I read somewhere that the reason it used to be done was because metallic paints had a lot less coverage back then. The explanation was that modern metallics (generally) have sufficient coverage that it isn't needed. I'm just curious what your reasoning is.
Thanks again! I love this channel and have never regretted signing up to be a patreon. Cult of Paint makes some of the best painting content out there, no question.
The mk 7 Helm's look so much better then the new ones .
No No NO NO NO NO!!! This makes me want to paint space wolves 🙈🙈
Would love to see this “high value contrast area” paint scheme with a black armor like Black Templars or Iron Hands.
COME ON, LADS! IMPERIAL FISTS! IMPERIAL FISTS! IMPERIAL FISTS!
You know we've done 2 fists videos already?
I wish I was that Ben.
Love your videos, but i could use some quick help on weathing a darker scheme. If lets say were doing ultras, would you still chip in brown? Or would you use a brighter grey/blue like bering to add a tippy tap weathering?
Both if I had time
Such a good video ! Must be lighting but the single marine you made looks more white vs the look of the group of marines at the end of your video who look more blue .
Great vid. I would love to see a more detailed tutorial video on Blood Angels. The Termie video was awesome, but, as he even acknowledged in the video, it isn't strictly a step-by-step tutorial like this.
Search for blood angels in our videos. We've done a few!
I'm going to have to agree with Ben on the lenses. If you want to save a little more time to compensate I'd do the Aquila in 2 or 3 steps max.
These look fuckfuck good!
Retributors chapter would be cool
I can't get the double sarcophagus out of my head I just imagine its a primaris body carrying a first born in the chest lol
It's where they keep the tea and biscuits
what decals where used for thew pack marking?
Hi Henry, wondering if you have done or would consider doing a video on how to paint up both halves of a dual-army box (ie. the upcoming 10th edition starter sets), focusing on making them as distinct from each other as possible.
Could you explain a bit more.
@@cultofpaint For example - let's take the two opposing armies (or kill teams?) that come in a starter set, and pick a paint scheme for each force that provides the most distinct visual contrast from the other force. Working through your thought process for choosing contrasting color palettes, finishes, bases, etc. Does that make sense?
@@ndperseo7136 I think so yes. For me I'd want both halves of a set to work together. So same basing and style. At which point it comes down to colour choices really. And having the models be very different such as this set with the organic nids and blocky, armoured marines is perfect.
Really effective. Would be keen to know what tones you’d recommend for a salamander army.
Search our vids, there's 2 salamanders schemes there.
Anyone know why some space wolves have vertical stripes on the yellow pauldron and some have horizontal? Or is this just a preference thing?
Those are unit markings.
What greens would you choose for salamanders using a method similar to this? I was thinking of zenethal highlighting with Tamia Flat White, then airbrushing Warp Lightning contrast over that, but I’m wondering if that wouldn’t be bright enough and you’d lose the contrast when you came in with the sponge to do the chipping…?
Warp lightning would be fine I think.
@@cultofpaint thanks - I’ll do a test mini once my nids are out the way!
great example of table top ready. wonderful job. i will use this.. although the scheme my nephew wants on his marines is the red with black shown on the the Leviathan box art... any suggestions?
For the Tyranids?
@@cultofpaint for the marines, box side, after you lift the lid off.. red and black chapter colors
@@howardcoates6985 I think that's probably Blood Angels. We've done a few guides for them.
@@cultofpaint k, i will look them up. thanks
Why does the sarge has the dubble tilt-sheilds ? Is that a loré reason or just the rule of cool?
just what's on the mini
Hi Henry, how much was the commission for this standard please sir?
i have yet to unbox my space wolves i was woundering do you have stickers of wolves for the shoulder pad or are they inprinted? i saw 1 vid of the wolf brand imbedded into the shoulder but this vid looks like its a sticker so i have no clue
Hi Jesse. The markings we've used are waterslide transfers. They sit flush with the paint. You can also purchase shoulderpads with the chapter icon sculpted on.
There's a link in the video to applying transfers ( decals )
Ork punks in imperial armours? I didn't miss them. At all.
I love your content i became a patron today with your highest tier. Im positive joining with help to elevate me to become a better miniature commision 🎨. Best investment of 2023 so far. Gonna build a raptor legion ( small squad for now) and horus heresy world eaters (about 3000 points) and alpha legion (over 7k in points) usijng your paint schemes.
Sounds awesome!
I really like this method but it seems lime its geared towards more experienced painters and Im still a novice tbh. I have another method im looking to use but I wanna try this one too. Problem is I don’t want one of my wolves to look significantly different than the others. With the scratch marks etc.
It's fair to say we don't really target "new" painters particularly, we just sort of paint stuff and share how we did it.
If you like the techniques shown then deffo give it a go on another mini, it doesn't have to be for your current project, but it might give you some confidence for your next.
Ask, and you shall recieve!
Do some tau mannnnnn
What is that anime intro video from?
Generic sci-fi intro
@@cultofpaint - It looks really cool lol
Jesus does that mean I have to strip down my Wolves to bare plastic and following these steps apply fresh paint ? As I have aroound 200 troopers and associated armoured units including flyers? Project for next year as I am busy with Orks at present.
They are called peang
Left shoulder should be yellow NOT white. That Decal is specifically for Ragnar Blackmane's company and his symbol is ALWAYS on a yellow background.
Curious, what makes you hate using Screaming Skull?
Cos theres about 5 whites I'd rather use instead. I like nothing about it.
"Speed painting" XD
Thumbs up.....I l😂ike the video, but I will say I am not liking the looks of this armor....seems too light colored on the lower legs
