    “From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink: "Ant-Man and The Wasp." In the aftermath of "Captain America: Civil War," Scott Lang (Rudd) grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he's confronted by Hope van Dyne (Lilly) and Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas) with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside The Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from their past.”

    Bizarre-O review where Alonso is defending the comic book blockbuster against Matt, who felt some things didn’t work as well as the movie would have liked.

    I really loved this movie. I keep seeing people complain about the car shrinking stuff and that it doesn't fit the established science. If I remember correctly they weren't shrinking random cars but just the cars they kept in that case. So those cars could have essentially had the same tech as the suit to protect those inside.

    • @tschrky303
      @tschrky303 Před 5 lety

      The problem *I have* with the car shrinking is that the shrunken vehicle-and the passengers in it-could've been destroyed so easily - that really took me out of the movie.

    I couldn't believe how good-looking Evangeline Lilly was in this movie, it's like wow, I did not know it was possible to be that healthy and vibrant and fit. But she's also smart, really really smart. She reminds me a lot of Quorra in TRON: Legacy, how alert and poised she remains at all times. She's a born fighter, and she knows that the best way to win all your fights is sometimes not to have them at all.

      The pattern has been set. MCU post-credits are one of two things:
      Far more likely 1) Teasers for another movie.
      But sometimes 2) One-off jokes with no real significance to the movie you just saw (e.g., The Avengers 'Shwarma', Spiderman Homecoming's Captain America PSA, Guardians of the Galaxy's Howard the Duck).

      Did you even read what I said? I said *MOST* - for crying out loud, why does the internet go straight to absolute adjectives all the time?!
      I don't watch movies anymore, yes. Firstly because they were formulaic and shallow. Then I realised, I didn't miss them. The same with TV. I don't miss it. It is like a drug everyone else is taking and you don't. Everyone else just can't fathom how you can not be on the same drug as them. They make me out to be the villain, or the freak and I'm like "you realise what you're defending, right?"
      As for music, I stopped listening to most of it since again, formulaic and shallow. Especially pop. I do listen to some obscure jazz, new symphony stuff, though.
      And you know what, I don't even have a smart phone, no instagram, no tumblr, no FB no nothing. Because its all shit. And I'm fine with that. And I'm happy.

      + Satyasya Ican hardly blame you for missing most movies because I think you're right, the overwhelming majority of them these days are repetitive, cliched garbage. However, I really hope you're still watching television because damn, we're in a new Golden Age there.

      PurushaDesa no the shitty movies that studios release are doing that every Adam Sandler movie anything that has Amy Schumer in it. Also Streaming services are replacing them and video games as well. Don’t blame good movies that people love for the end of the cinema era.

    • @PurushaDesa
      @PurushaDesa Před 6 lety +1

      460mas
      That dichotomy isn't necessary.
      The mid budget has found its home on streaming services because the film industry only invests in blockbuster franchises and a few micro budget counter-programming exceptions, often in horror such as the critically and commercially acclaimed _Get Out_ . (You weren't disappointed by that as well were you?) And it's funny you mention Adam Sandler as an example of bad cinema because he actually signed a multi-picture deal with Netflix - again, so the mid budget is being chased out the cinema and you see that even with with better received studio comedies like _Game Night_ which underperformed at the box office.
      The upshot of all of this is a lot less to do with the lack of quality in non-franchise filmmaking, and much more to do with a paranoid Hollywood machine exclusively making huge tentpole films that makes them competitive in China because of the lack of reliance on lingustic and cultural specificity. This paranoia of Chinese dominance also explains the surge in potential studio mergers and acquisitions. Put simply fantasy action films are global, and smaller, intimate, psychologically sophisticated films don't really travel. So what you're getting are mostly big, loud, generic, assembly line movies.

      I'd much prefer more of these to have a similar tone to Winter Soldier and Infinity War. The first Ant-man was too goofball for me. Too many moments where they try to be funny but fail just aiming for the lowest common denominator.

    • @delfra70
      @delfra70 Před 6 lety

      True. I think some CBM's are meant to have a more serious tone just as some CBM's are meant to have lighter tones and that's cool with me. Every CBM shouldn't be the same and have similar tones, I like diversity.

    • @delfra70
      @delfra70 Před 6 lety

      Exactly, anyone that knows anything about Ant-Man would know that he's a more lighthearted character and that's just how it is. To me we're in a great era of CBM's where we have gotten some amazing films over the past decade and all some people can do is bitch, whine and moan. Has every film been great over the past decade of course not, but I think the genre has produced some outstanding films and this year is no different. But people will always bitch about something. Hell man you can have a 85 degree day with clear blue skies and some weirdo out there will find a way to complain about that hahaha.

STFU and stop whining like some little girls about everything and enjoy the quality of films that we're getting, we've gotten some great CBM's this year period. Quality wise as well as financially we've gotten some incredibly successful films this year. We've gotten two CBM's that have grossed over $600 million domestic and well over $1 billion domestic, one of them over $2 billion worldwide. Another CBM that's made over $300m domestic and another superhero film on it's way to over $500m domestic and all of them have been crowd pleasers and gotten outstanding reviews as well. Excuse my language but what more do these mf'n weirdos want?

    This was okay. As a stand alone movie, it's okay. As an MCU movie? It was awful. Yeah, it was funny, but it's supposed to fit in with the Cap movies, Black Panther, Thor: Ragnarok... it doesn't. GOTG films are hilarious and kind of in their own separate sphere (until IW). James Gunn made it work, and it was great. This was not great.

      Bridget Whelan how is ant man suppose to fit in with isolated country of wakanda and then a god who’s he’s never met??
      Opinions are subjective. You thought it was okay to awful, that’s fine. It’s your opinion. But in no way is the ant man franchise “suppose” to fit with other movies. This movie has plenty of moments where it touches bases with previous movies (mentioning CA3 with the airport battle) and with future movies (mid credit scene).
      I thought the movie was fun and quite enjoyable. But that’s my opinion.

Non-spoiler reviews typically do a brief plot synopsis of the set up in a the first act of a film, but leave the rest out, and then movie onto other aspects of the film being reviewed.

      If they're not part of the film, then just get rid of them. They almost always suck, but if you go with a group there's always one guy who insists on hanging around, when everyone else is eager to get moving towards the pub or wherever.
      It's not a big deal, but they're a dumb gimmick and I find it weird how much sections of the public have bought into them.

      As I said, the after credit scenes are for FANS. They just are early peaks for movies for fans. If you see it with a group of friends, it's like 10 minutes and you can wait 10 minutes.
      And they aren't really a gimmick. It's just some peaks or looks at new movies for fans.

      But this post-credits scene IS a big deal and you should wait for it, but it doesn't fit in this story, even though it fits into the overall Marvel cinematic universe. I quite enjoy the post-credits scenes, as I think most people do. If they weren't working, Marvel would stop doing them.

    "It's no Black Panther." So does that mean it's actually got good pacing?

    In the opening trailer, I just love the commentary on mindless millennial culture, the three stooges sitting in the cafe on their laptops, completely oblivious to the thrilling spectacle happening on the street outside.

    The sole idea of this movie is ridiculous. The first one was a generic comedy with effects. I´m not bying the constant hype around any Marvel release anymore. I never pay for blockbusters like this but I watch at home later on to judge and damn it after seeing every time such high scores (mostly from fanboys of course, I know) only to discover one more simple blockbuster afterwards I´m not buying it anymore!

      sanyrub I'm with you, pal. Every trailer for these comics movies promises a Casablanca or Gone With the Wind level of cinema but they never delivered.
