“From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink: "Ant-Man and The Wasp." In the aftermath of "Captain America: Civil War," Scott Lang (Rudd) grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he's confronted by Hope van Dyne (Lilly) and Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas) with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside The Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from their past.”

The fashion police should arrest the two old guys at the table on felony charges.
Did their choice of clothing invalidate their opinions?
That Michael Pena scene was hilarious. I haven't laughed that hard at a movie on a while
Matt Atchity needs to get some new movie review cliches to throw out there. It's too much and it is pretty much every review says it doesn't change the world. Not every movie needs to be this way. Enough
Alonso said in an earlier video that "Pom Poko" was his favorite animated film. i just watched it, and it was awesome! it literally made me cry. thx for the recommendation!
Bizarre-O review where Alonso is defending the comic book blockbuster against Matt, who felt some things didn’t work as well as the movie would have liked.
Christy is that a goblet? lool
I really loved this movie. I keep seeing people complain about the car shrinking stuff and that it doesn't fit the established science. If I remember correctly they weren't shrinking random cars but just the cars they kept in that case. So those cars could have essentially had the same tech as the suit to protect those inside.
The problem *I have* with the car shrinking is that the shrunken vehicle-and the passengers in it-could've been destroyed so easily - that really took me out of the movie.
Shout out to Christy’s crystal goblet. 🍷🍷🍷
Ant Man should meet Spider Man.
sha11235 Uh, he did in Civil War.
I've seen it. It's ok. Not as good as Schindler's List or Citizen Kane though.
Certainly not as good as The Emoji Movie or me as well.
What an awful list to compare it to.
Yea this piece of candy was good but not as good as a steak or prime rib.
Love the satire here
Whoosh
Like seriously, who goes to an Ant-man film expecting Black Panther?!
I couldn't believe how good-looking Evangeline Lilly was in this movie, it's like wow, I did not know it was possible to be that healthy and vibrant and fit. But she's also smart, really really smart. She reminds me a lot of Quorra in TRON: Legacy, how alert and poised she remains at all times. She's a born fighter, and she knows that the best way to win all your fights is sometimes not to have them at all.
She really stole the movie. Evangeline acted her butt off ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
You say "everybody knows to stay after the credits," yet I constantly see people leaving early... STILL... even with INFINITY WAR. What has there been, 20 something Marvel movies at this point? I just can't figure it out... unless people just assume they'll watch the stuff on CZcams later.
I think at this point most people who leave know, but don't care
The pattern has been set. MCU post-credits are one of two things:
Far more likely 1) Teasers for another movie.
But sometimes 2) One-off jokes with no real significance to the movie you just saw (e.g., The Avengers 'Shwarma', Spiderman Homecoming's Captain America PSA, Guardians of the Galaxy's Howard the Duck).
Let them leave , who cares
Christy with that fancy receptacle game on lockdown
I'd definitely give it at least a 7, but I need to rewatch it to form a final opinion since I was pretty tired during the second half of the movie.
*Christy's back with the crazy cup, yo!*
'Been way too long, girl - *keep doing you!*
I want a giant beer stein next.
It’s probably vodka. I’d drink if I had to hear Alonzo all the time.
I liked the first Ant and Alonso didn't so that makes sense. But Alonso liked the second Ant, so maybe I shouldn't go see it. But Matt didn't like it, so maybe I should see it. My normal anti-WTF did not work this time.
Yes, a good reception of this movie will definitely greenlight celery man 2: cinco tayne.
Have not seen a movie in like 10 years, but I keep watching WTFlick :D
Satyasya Satyasya BS, maybe you mean on the theater
No, I'm serious. I stopped watching movies and listening to most music since I just felt its all the damn same and the most shallow, money making, meaningless crap and I'm not going to waste my money.
Satyasya Satyasya so you tell me you don't like any music or movie in existence, and they're all shallow?
Did you even read what I said? I said *MOST* - for crying out loud, why does the internet go straight to absolute adjectives all the time?!
I don't watch movies anymore, yes. Firstly because they were formulaic and shallow. Then I realised, I didn't miss them. The same with TV. I don't miss it. It is like a drug everyone else is taking and you don't. Everyone else just can't fathom how you can not be on the same drug as them. They make me out to be the villain, or the freak and I'm like "you realise what you're defending, right?"
As for music, I stopped listening to most of it since again, formulaic and shallow. Especially pop. I do listen to some obscure jazz, new symphony stuff, though.
And you know what, I don't even have a smart phone, no instagram, no tumblr, no FB no nothing. Because its all shit. And I'm fine with that. And I'm happy.
+ Satyasya Ican hardly blame you for missing most movies because I think you're right, the overwhelming majority of them these days are repetitive, cliched garbage. However, I really hope you're still watching television because damn, we're in a new Golden Age there.
so its like the apple dumpling gang????
We're back to wacky water containers! YEAH!
I want to hear more of what's buggin' Matt about it!
Matt, they're all TV episodes. Even the good ones are TV episodes. That's why it's destroying cinema as we know it.
PurushaDesa I agree.
3 cinemas in our town exploded into dust while screening Thor Ragnarok. That's why I skipped Infinity War.
josef rootgum
Support your independent cinema people! I don't know about dust and explosions but they do disappear.
PurushaDesa no the shitty movies that studios release are doing that every Adam Sandler movie anything that has Amy Schumer in it. Also Streaming services are replacing them and video games as well. Don’t blame good movies that people love for the end of the cinema era.
460mas
That dichotomy isn't necessary.
The mid budget has found its home on streaming services because the film industry only invests in blockbuster franchises and a few micro budget counter-programming exceptions, often in horror such as the critically and commercially acclaimed _Get Out_ . (You weren't disappointed by that as well were you?) And it's funny you mention Adam Sandler as an example of bad cinema because he actually signed a multi-picture deal with Netflix - again, so the mid budget is being chased out the cinema and you see that even with with better received studio comedies like _Game Night_ which underperformed at the box office.
The upshot of all of this is a lot less to do with the lack of quality in non-franchise filmmaking, and much more to do with a paranoid Hollywood machine exclusively making huge tentpole films that makes them competitive in China because of the lack of reliance on lingustic and cultural specificity. This paranoia of Chinese dominance also explains the surge in potential studio mergers and acquisitions. Put simply fantasy action films are global, and smaller, intimate, psychologically sophisticated films don't really travel. So what you're getting are mostly big, loud, generic, assembly line movies.
So you're saying they belong in a muse-I mean-on television?
solid review. but will i agree once i see the film........
i wish i could see the thumbnail when i put my mouse over the timeline, then i could skip the stupid trailer. i don t wanna watch the trailers :(
is that a problem with my settings or is it something that the channel decides?
Or get a moviepass account which os amazing.
what the fancy glass!
Here's my gripe, and it's - in the tone of the films - tiny: look, there's *NO EFFING WAY* someone is almost hitting the Wasp mid-flight with a butcher knife. They did the same thing last film when some security guard shot the ant Scott was riding in mid-air. People that can shoot and throw like that are superhumans.
E Brown they throw at her when she’s big and then she shrinks mid throw
Matt's movie descriptions are so painful to watch. A lot of um's, and eye rolling around the studio. like he's trying to figure out what he wants to say on the moment. Isn't there someone that pre-writes that part of the show to help him?
Matt has really been slacking ever since he was promoted by Cenk and left Rotten Tomatoes.
The important thing is the review itself...go look up a better description on IMDb if you so desperately need one in the first place v.v
Ant-man was perfectly watchable without watching all the other Marvel movies so do you have to watch the other Marvel movies to enjoy or keep up with Ant-Man And The Wasp Review?
Right. And I don't think so.
For the next Avengers, though, the Microverse/Quantum Realm is an issue.
Thank you, from Australia!!!
The question should've been *Do I need to watch those MCU films that were released in the meantime to enjoy the movie Ant-Man and The Wasp?* (~_~)
Michelle Pfieffer?
2000teens will be known for an shit load of comic movies
Hold on, paul rudd and steve coogan as a gay couple forced to raise a child at a moments notice? What the heck was that called again?
Ideal Home.
Fabrisse ter Brugghe it certainly would be
OK so considering the movie hasn’t come out for another week should this video even be up? I get that they saw probably at some early screening but just by talking about it with that be and some realm spoilers I mean I haven’t watch the video because of said potential spoilers but yeah what the hell guys just wait a week to put up your video
MUG!
Shit where'd that fucking chalice come from?
Looks more like a crystal candy dish your grandmother would have on her coffee table.
I hate the first and I prolly wont see this, BUT THe action looks AMAZING. Please guys big shout out to the CG artists on these MCU movies. I want them to get as much (if not more) credit and recognition than the directors.
How do you not love Paul Rudd, nevertheless, would probably be more interested in a sequel to My idiot brother, as opposed to this
Guys please please don`t show trailers at beginning of reviews; If we want to see trailers, we`ll look them up ourselves - Love yer reviews
it was a good movie but towards the end some of the jokes are repetitive
Next one Cockraoch man and Gnat dude vs ANt and Wasp
... Or Mole Man.
An actual super-villain that Disney now owns since buying Fox.
No need to try so hard at finding silly new names for comic books characters - there's already plenty of those available.
Cockroach*
Just an ok movie to me. Some scenes were very cool or funny but overall movie was just ok
Okay is good. Could've been worse...much worse.
When it's serious it's too serious, when it's jockey it's not serious enough, when it's both, it's too much of both. Fuck man, you can't win. Ant Man was awesome and I can't wait to see this one.
I'd much prefer more of these to have a similar tone to Winter Soldier and Infinity War. The first Ant-man was too goofball for me. Too many moments where they try to be funny but fail just aiming for the lowest common denominator.
True. I think some CBM's are meant to have a more serious tone just as some CBM's are meant to have lighter tones and that's cool with me. Every CBM shouldn't be the same and have similar tones, I like diversity.
Exactly, anyone that knows anything about Ant-Man would know that he's a more lighthearted character and that's just how it is. To me we're in a great era of CBM's where we have gotten some amazing films over the past decade and all some people can do is bitch, whine and moan. Has every film been great over the past decade of course not, but I think the genre has produced some outstanding films and this year is no different. But people will always bitch about something. Hell man you can have a 85 degree day with clear blue skies and some weirdo out there will find a way to complain about that hahaha.
Tell me about it, dudes complaining like they on PMS or something. STFU and stop whining like some little girls about everything and enjoy the quality of films that we're getting, we've gotten some great CBM's this year period. Quality wise as well as financially we've gotten some incredibly successful films this year. We've gotten two CBM's that have grossed over $600 million domestic and well over $1 billion domestic, one of them over $2 billion worldwide. Another CBM that's made over $300m domestic and another superhero film on it's way to over $500m domestic and all of them have been crowd pleasers and gotten outstanding reviews as well. Excuse my language but what more do these mf'n weirdos want?
It was so fun! We loved it!
Zero interest in seeing this movie, but I always love watching you guys discuss
Looks boring...skip it
Hippopotamai tai anyone?
Yay! 1st comment. Can't wait for this movie!
dragoonboy1 no i am... sorry bruh
Stopped watching IMMEDIATELY at "I didn't like the first one". Critics who are dead inside - I have ZERO interest in EVER WATCHING AGAIN.
He liked this one...isn't that enough?
last
This was okay. As a stand alone movie, it's okay. As an MCU movie? It was awful. Yeah, it was funny, but it's supposed to fit in with the Cap movies, Black Panther, Thor: Ragnarok... it doesn't. GOTG films are hilarious and kind of in their own separate sphere (until IW). James Gunn made it work, and it was great. This was not great.
Bridget Whelan how is ant man suppose to fit in with isolated country of wakanda and then a god who’s he’s never met??
Opinions are subjective. You thought it was okay to awful, that’s fine. It’s your opinion. But in no way is the ant man franchise “suppose” to fit with other movies. This movie has plenty of moments where it touches bases with previous movies (mentioning CA3 with the airport battle) and with future movies (mid credit scene).
I thought the movie was fun and quite enjoyable. But that’s my opinion.
The point the OP is making is about the film fitting into the MCU. Did you miss the post credit scene, like you missed the point here?
first
Wow! Christy is so pretty! 😍😘
Michelle Pfeiffer? Whaa? Is that like a spoiler?
She's on the poster so I guess not.
Women? Emotion? :P
**** you *** holes spoilers warnings next time.
basquat76 Nah
I will unsubscribe if they pull this crap again.
xellos metallium there going to do it again, because if I don't even know what they spoiled then I'm sure they don't either, so just save your blood pressure and unsubscribe now.
I'm not the only one here who heard spoilers, read more of the comments, and my blood pressure is fine. Thank you for your concern.)
Yeah. I saw the film last night and watched this review just now, and had to double check if this was a spoiler review because they pretty much laid bare the entire plot. Non-spoiler reviews typically do a brief plot synopsis of the set up in a the first act of a film, but leave the rest out, and then movie onto other aspects of the film being reviewed.
Black Panther has to be the most overrated movie this year so far...
Jr Morales you misspelled underrated
...and that would be a nope (^0_0^)
Matt talks about this film being forgettable, as if all the MCU films don't have that same problem.
Also, stop making people stay through the credits. If the scene is good, put it in the damn film.
After-Credit scenes are purely just for big fans of the MCU, to get new peaks at new movies. It's pretty cool and most of them don't relate to the movie, like the Iron Man 2 one.
If they're not part of the film, then just get rid of them. They almost always suck, but if you go with a group there's always one guy who insists on hanging around, when everyone else is eager to get moving towards the pub or wherever.
It's not a big deal, but they're a dumb gimmick and I find it weird how much sections of the public have bought into them.
As I said, the after credit scenes are for FANS. They just are early peaks for movies for fans. If you see it with a group of friends, it's like 10 minutes and you can wait 10 minutes.
And they aren't really a gimmick. It's just some peaks or looks at new movies for fans.
But this post-credits scene IS a big deal and you should wait for it, but it doesn't fit in this story, even though it fits into the overall Marvel cinematic universe. I quite enjoy the post-credits scenes, as I think most people do. If they weren't working, Marvel would stop doing them.
"It's no Black Panther." So does that mean it's actually got good pacing?
I see you got jokes, those crack rocks must have really started kicking in on you.
Alexander Forbes it means meh villain and very jokey
Honestly, felt like it dragged.
Black panther is so overrated...
Jr Morales said no one ever
explains why didn't see him in infinity war?? what????? this takes place before infinity war
Did you stay after the credits?
In the opening trailer, I just love the commentary on mindless millennial culture, the three stooges sitting in the cafe on their laptops, completely oblivious to the thrilling spectacle happening on the street outside.
The sole idea of this movie is ridiculous. The first one was a generic comedy with effects. I´m not bying the constant hype around any Marvel release anymore. I never pay for blockbusters like this but I watch at home later on to judge and damn it after seeing every time such high scores (mostly from fanboys of course, I know) only to discover one more simple blockbuster afterwards I´m not buying it anymore!
sanyrub I'm with you, pal. Every trailer for these comics movies promises a Casablanca or Gone With the Wind level of cinema but they never delivered.
sanyrub boo hoo to you.
You must be a fun person to be around...
Oh yes always fun to tell it like it is :)
sanyrub I hope you know fanboys reviews are different from actual reviews...
Marvel Kids! The first one was terrible. Not Marvels finest movies so a pass for me.
TimeLimey no one cares about your opinion.
No one cares about Ant-Man either!
