Made out alive is a full feature independent film, made in Austin Texas. We shot this film for under 3 thousand dollars! The story follows a few friends that find themselves in the middle of an evacuated bio hazard zone. Soon forced with the reality that the area they are in has become overrun with zombie like infected people. The characters are forced to make choices that leave some dead and help some survive. Enjoy this free zombie movie!

Better than most zombie movies: They actually had a writer or two. The gore is minimal, the sound track is good, unexpected things happen outside the usual "Eeek." I was surprised and pleased. I will recommend this.
i definitly would love to see you guys make another one its better than alot of the horror movies they put in theaters now, it has a raw natural feel to it that movies these days are missing.
The infected people (I refuse to call them zombies) in this film were a cut above most others. These had a bit of thinking power, and some tenacity. The part where they were checking the cars to see if Mike was in one of them, and that one guy with the white plaid shirt who didn't seem to want to give up on ultimately munching down on Mike's refried beans. That was a nice touch that added a bit more menace to them.

Really enjoyed this! It was well shot, great story, gritty, with a good mystery behind the event. That last line was perfect. "When we get to the city, you pray, and if God gives you an answer, you let me know." I really like the music for the ending credits too!
One of the worst things about most of these low-budget zombie/infected films is that the actors often can't forget they're making a movie and don't act as freaked out and disoriented as people would normally be in such a situation. These actors did and I give them credit for that. Overall a good effort, though a bit confusing in some parts.
The movie may not be the best, but considering that it was obviously made with little or no money at all. You gotta give them some credit. If anyone thinks the movie sucked, then go out there and make your own. Props too the makers and actors for making the best they could with little resources!

Yes, it's very difficult process. l'm currently making animated zombie series based on a novel.
Just in the first 15 minutes the camera work was clearly limited in preproduction and planning, the hue was off, audio issues- actors mumbling, wind chatter etc. and a million other niggly aspects.
My critique is given in the spirit of constructive observation and l critique everything, especially my own work.
Wish more would do likewise 'cause, you're absolutely spot on, its easier to sit back and judge than it is to actually add something worthwhile.
This was the second zombie movie I had ever seen. It has been over a year since then. After watching a lot of other things (World War Z, The Walking Dead, etc.) I decided to watch this again. Whatever you did, you made it really different than the rest of all the zombie fiction out there, This is much more ominous and has a certain feel to it. It's better in that way than the multimillion dollar movies and series they've been cranking out lately. Good work!

There's not a single thing wrong with this movie. Great storyline. There should be a part 2!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The improvisation definitely gave the film pull. I'm usually really patient with B movies, but something will happen and I eventually just shut it off and look for something else, but the way the characters interacted in this made it worthwhile. There wasn't a bunch of unnecessary parts, and I enjoyed how there was no metaroleplaying involved where all of a sudden people figured out what to do and how. Regardless of special effects, the actors and story made it gold.
First of all I just want to let you know that your hard work is highly appreciated. Doing something like this is amazing , pretty much on your own. It was a interesting storyline and the end just opened it up for an even better(though harder & more expensive) movie to come. I don't understand how anyone that's tried to put up their own content could be so unsupportive of your effort. When most of the videos on here are minutes long and people recording themselves drooling. You did a great job.:)

very well done, it reminds me of george romeros night of the living dead, the low budget, creepy camera angles and fair fleshing out of humanity made this a great little movie, nice touch with the city burning at the end too, leaves room for a sequel (hint hint :)

Let me say this made my day. I am a trying poet, artist, and filmist, and this really inspired me. Much better in taste than many "mainstream" zombie films of late. Some real feeling behind characters and scene. I found it convincing, which is the real test.

For this type of movie and being low budget I thought it was darn good. It didn't hurt that the main character Mike was super hot either ;)

The show is good for a shoestring budget, but the actor is like a superman , can outrun the zombies and no need to use any weapons to defend himself

It's not enough for you to say; "I know for a fact that there is no chair in the next room", for the simple reason of saying so, unless it was suggested to you, and you entertained the possibility of it being so for at least a moment. the guy who got in the car? nah he wasnt infected or in bad shape. he was just out of the loop no clue what a giant shit storm he stepped into. especially when the main character ( not thinking rationally) starts driving in the direction of a clearly distressed city. seemed like a good way to end with the idea of a sequel up in the air.
Yes, sequel. I was left so unsatisfied at the end.... especially with the title Made Out Alive...because it seems the worse is yet to come! Sequel, sequel, sequel!!!

Well well,..finally, a group of young filmmakers we can cheer for. I am a "seasoned" vet of horror, having actually watched the orig Dawn of the Dead at the theaters. Sadly, most zombie/infected are less than scary,( if you leave out the "28 days/weeks Later" films. Oh, and I did enjoy WWZ, I digress. Just let me say..keep up the great work guys, listen to the constructive criticism, and f#ck the rest. Loved it!

It is one of the better zombie movies made. The only problem for me is zombies that can run, George Romero was asked how do we move? His response was that you'er dead, move like a corpse! Rigamortise prevents zombies from running!!!

these zombie killers are so stupidly played out, the guy on the run cannot find a weapon with littery thousands of sticks, metals ect laying around. when he finely kills a zombie with a long sharp pointed stick he immediately gets smart and throws his only weapon down and runs
+otherworldtrader1 Overall it was a decent attempt, but that part threw me as well. Except for a couple guns, nobody seemed to try to find a hand held weapon of any type, which would be the first thing anyone would do. When Mike threw the steel rod away after just killing an "infected" with it it made no sense.
+otherworldtrader1 My knee jerk reaction was the same as yours. But if you think about it they are still in panic mode, only being a couple day's in to it. And apparently don't have our endless hours of watching zombie flicks under their belts :-) So they are just starting to learn what needs to be done.
Much better movie than the majority of big budget or lower budget zombie movies. I would say, however, that this movie is a total DOWNER. I mean this movie is beyond BLEAK and HOPELESS.
Whenever you watch a film and you find yourself loving it except for one or two characters that are assholes/morons making shitty decisions remember, their acting has done its job! If you can't fucking stand them then they've given us a stellar performance and that is exactly how it's supposed to be!
Thought it was generally good and pretty suspenseful...though I did have a few WTF moments where I couldn't figure out what happened or how.

If I see Aaron Isaac Vasquez producing or acting in another film, I would pay to watch it. The only thing I thought was funny was how fast they were.

Ok, now that was a really great flick. Especially for being so low budget. But, as most 'Zombie Enthusiasts' (even B-Rated) such as myself know those are usually the best ones:) most definitely sets up for a sequel, which would be awesome if ya ever did one.
Either way, I give it a 4/5. I've even saved this to my Zombie Playlist and have been telling my buddies about it.

Really love the pacing on this, love the sepia tones it is filmed in. The acting is good. Like the cinematography.
One more quick note... I agree that the vast majority of the negative comments are unwarranted given the nature of this film as a first-time, no-budget effort. Don't be discouraged by naysayers & keep following your passions! :)

Wow, this movie is actually a lot better than other zombie flicks with big budgets. Like some of my favorites; 28 Days/Weeks Later, Quarantine, and Dawn of the dead. Oh, and World War Z wasn't all that great, but OK. Great job to the flim maker, actors, production team, etcetera for this dope movie. Thx

Fantastic film! I love the scene at 14:11. The long distance shot on the vehicle coupled with the characters' reactions presents some OMINOUS ambience. The minimalism here is incredible and displays in a nutshell the Director's intuitive grasp of horror art. I LOVE the character presented by Vasquez (this guy has some incredible acting potential). Dynamic, stoic and simultaneously emotive, impulsive and yet rational...well done all around!!!

Decent First film!! I liked it! Just a steping stone to something bigger and better. I myself have plans to make an amature film on a small budget. Who knows what can happen ...but if you don't try you never know.

Actually a pretty good film. Most unrealistic part is this takes place in Texas, yet there is not a lot of guns found in abandoned houses. Even here in Ohio, I have a shotgun, rifle and pistol...

Some of you are watching this with the logic of zombie movie viewing. This possible Zombie Event just started, and you can't react to things thinking "this is just like a zombie movie my boyfriend is going to turn". I didn't see anyone rise from the dead. Maybe it's a form of rabies, one used a weapon. The characters definitely have no info. As for Stacy - Someone you first met maybe a couple of days ago goes into a bathroom and kills your boyfriend. A stranger kills a loved one, I doubt you're thinking, "Oh, that's for the best". Sitting here, it probably seems logical that the guy was putting her boyfriend out of his misery. But to her that guy - however his good intentions, just killed possibly the only person she had left. Right or wrong it's pretty understandable... If her character offends you, stay away from The Zombie Diaries or The Day. Now that I think of it - most zombie films have at least one unhinged character. Hell, The Walking Dead introduces about a dozen each season. BTW: When she shot him I thought, "you bit@3".

I can list many many more weird moments, but I don't want to be a jerk, I did like that whole Texas atmosphere and it was well done for a low budget movie.
