Showing off the kitchen and an unexpected Fuling walking in is the most Valheim thing that can happen short of a Raid.

The refinery can also be enclosed with iron.
I like to have a door at the input and output, and enclose the cauldron part in iron grating.
It allows to see the refinery in action. Almost as lovely as watching a flame.

Good luck! I bet you could use the same concept to trap wolves and other monsters. You could probably trap seekers that way if you did it with black marble

Last bit with the anit-monster monster entrance is bomb, does that work for keeping tamed animals contained too?
Yeah! Just keep in mind the same "pushing" applies, the tamed animals can push each other around, so you need layers :)
