I love her way of outlining! I was a theatre kid in high school and part of college, and plays use three act structures like that. So her outlining process really resonated with me, and thanks to her and Abbie Emmons I am finally able to connect things in my story.

Its so interesting to discover new structures. I have a total of 4 different type of structures that are Save the Cat, 3 Act, Hero’s Journey and Story Circle. They all do have overlapping beats. So depending on your story you can pick the ones that work. Its more about fitting the structure to the story that your story into the structure.

yes absolutely! this is something I'm definitely starting to learn. I'm kindof just picking and choosing what works best from all the structures I've learned haha

Thanks for the recommendation! I'll have to check out that structure at some point, and see if it jives with the stories that I'm writing. I do like watching a lot of screenwriting advice and I think some of my... prose process(? For lack of a better word) for writing novels, because it seems to give a fresh/different way to approach storytelling than most novel recommendations. Glad everything is going better, and hope the destressing goes well too.

Yes it was really the mindset shift that I needed, especially since I already had a background in breaking down and understanding movie structure. It was wildly helpful for me! :)

It sounds similar to save the cat!

It kindof is but in the sense that it's a three act structure. some of the "main points" to hit do overlap but I think that's where the differences end (although I am more experienced with this structure than I am with Save the Cat)
