I always thought the rule was no lifting it over your head and no drinking out of it unless you won it.
Had 4 different times with it in my reach even had one of my kids sit in it (my x thought it would be cute) but never touched it. You have to earn the right though I'm not sure about once you get old enough but any way don't win it don't touch it let alone drink from it!!!!!

Was there someone there with Peyton who has won the cup? The only reason why Pat was able to drink from the cup is because a champion was there

I’m not a hockey player but as a fan it kinda cheapens it for me if non-champions can drink out of the Cup directly.
I kinda like the idea of the low-key version (lifting the cup while still vertical, dipping a glass into the cup to get a drink) being available to non-hockey fans but the celebratory version (hoisting it over your head, drinking directly from the Cup) being available to just the champions.
And to answer your question, no, there was no champion near Peyton. However, there was a keeper and he told Peyton he needed 16 wins to drink out of the Cup.
@@September2004 correct because there was no champion there to hold the cup. I don’t even think the handlers are allowed to hold it for people to drink out of. It doesn’t cheapen it to me because family and friends do it at the parties after the team wins. So I just take it as Pat getting to celebrate with Rupp a little late

Particularly family members who had to make so many sacrifices for their career whether it be parents who bought you your equipment or drive you to practice or wives who have to take care of the kids while you’re away on the road.
Or if it’s close friends who you’ve known since your pee wee days when you all dreamed about winning the Cup but you were the only one who made it.
But any buddy? I don’t know. I guess I like some exclusivity because it makes it more special.
