  • Back to work getting the boat ready for new hatches and portlights. In this video I finish prep work on the forward hatch and the portlights. The replacements are different sizes than the originals so I have to do some fiberglass work.

You sir, are fearless! You tackled a monster job when you decided to restore the old girl and nothing about it seems to intimidate you. Good work all the way around. Keep at it and one day you will have a beauty of yacht to enjoy with your wife. I'm proud of you for all the work you are doing. I look forward to every episode. (Restoring Little Girl)

Just a quick tip. Always epoxy the bare wood first before laying the fiber on top. Let that wood absorb that epoxy.

Have anybody ever ask why your not using a fill additive in your resign, Makes it like peanut butter easier to fill large areas and working upside down without dripping?

Great work. I’m about to do some fibreglassing for the first time so really useful. I have noticed that some people use a little roller on the wetted fibreglass but I don’t think you do? Does it make any difference?

A roller is great for larger areas but as soon as you finish it needs to be submerged in acetone so the resin doesnt harden on it (a mistake I made). I almost exlusively use cheap (99 cent at lowes) brushes. Whichever way you do it just make sure you are removing all of the air bubbles.

Errant Comma thankyou that explains it. We don't have Lowes in England but I think cheap brushes are the answer for me. Look forward to the rest of your project. Best wishes
