1st soprano here, classically trained .I tried to keep up with you, my boyfriend asked if our dog was dying... slightly insulated, but also amazed by your voice.
Let me help you. So all singing applies 1 science. The way i sing classical is the way i sing metal rock, same science. So i will consider that you are properly trained in the study of music specialized in vocalisations, so here it goes.
If you are classical, and you are a soprano, you are probably singing in a low larynx position head voice. If you will sing like in the video, you must learn how to do chest voice first. After that, learn the mixed voice, where your chest and head combines or resonates together.. and remember, do it in a MIDDLE LARYNX POSITION. So what is this larynx thing? When you speak im a "whiny" sound, your larynx by nature moves in the middle. When you speak in a "dopey" sound your larynx naturally moves down.
Anyway, if you noticed, he sings in mix voices and hits his high notes using head voice also. But all in middle larynx position. It is not a scream. And doing falsetto is a NoNo.
In classical, boys are not allowed to do head Voice and girls are not allowed to do chest voice. Both also are not allowed to mix voices and vocal textures like distortions (this is healthy, but very advance technique).
The reason why you are having a hard time singing it is because you didn't learn how to do singing asside in singing using the usual low larynx head voice in classical for women
@@user-fg7kk1kn6b classical male singers actually use "mixed voice" and head voice, but they prefer using term "covering" instead. Every classical tenor starts covering the sound from F#4 or G4 (=starts adding some head resonance). For every note that is considered high (basically from G4) they will actually use the term head voice. The tip to know if it's head voice or not is just to hear the timber when they're doing a diminuendo/decrescendo on a high note, thus singing more quiet. Then you will hear that the voice sounds very "heady", which is something that will not happen if they do it on an G3 for example. Some pieces require tenors to sing up to Eb5, so at this point it is pretty obvious that they're using head voice. What they're not allowed to do, though, is singing in falsetto which is different than head voice because the vocal cords are disconnected. I hope this helps :)
@@user-cy6xl3vd3f yeah there is also a thing called covering. I use it too, i pretend to belt but in reality, i do a mix voice in a lower larynx position to make it sound thick or chesty. Although when I hear even classical vocal teschers, they flip to falsetto actually. Also same as classical, trained rock singers arent allowed to use falsetto. We may sometimes sound like we are using falsetto, but we do things like mezzo vocce to make a similar sound. We are also classically trained, but what we do, we make a whinny bright sound. Also we apply vocal distortions and other textures. But we just use same singing science
Actually the best physical signs that a person is in headvoice is to check the resonance vibration and also by placing a candle in front of your mouth.
So when a person is in the mix the vibration will be in mouth or nasal cavities, around thr nose or face. Then in head, it will move up, up to the back of the head.
If a person is in falsetto, there will be no resonance.
Also i place a candle in front of my mouth. During mix up to head voice, the candle fire should not even move much because the air will be lesser and lesser.
I saw male classical singers make the candle flames go out. Means they are in falsetto.
"is our dog dying" is imo a very fitting description of how soprano sounds though :D
This song was made for metal. First time I heard it I was sad that she didn't just record two versions and crossover to bring more people into metal. She has a killer voice and the vibe to me was always metal with this song- It could be done with a post-hardcore pop-punky vibe too.
I'm a metalhead and i really love this song, Sia have great songs, lyrics, and the videos tales stories with the girl dancing, I'm an art lover, the "trve" metalheads who have some shit in their head who think the only music in the world is metal, then the rest of the music is shit, you're wrong my friends because you're in a bubble... then other people have some visions of art and music, please learn to give respect to it...words writen by a metalhead...if you are here to say "o man that music is shit"...may be you think you sing like Pavaroti...think before you speak...then close your mouth and enjoy the music

sergio gonzalez gonzalez I couldn't agree with you more! I remember in high school I tried to listen to nothing but metal - for me, that was near impossible! I grew up loving all types of music (from pop to grunge) - granted I lean more towards metal and rock (all the sub genres included) but I also enjoy opera, showtunes, 80's and 90's pop, and recently found a love for house-electronica music. I respect all art in all forms... and yes, Sia writes some great stuff - especially her older stuff before she got insanely popular!

A lot of mistakes.
1 He barely uses chest voice, its a mix of chest and head, with lots of preference to the head.
2. If thats the highes you´ve ever heard, you have listened way too little. David Coverdale, Jeff Scott Soto, Ian Gillan, Bruce Dickinson, tones more
3. Its not raw talent at all, if you look at his old videos when he was in x factor, you can see how much he improved, he wasnt nearly as good back then.

So I searched for a Metal Cover of Chandelier... I'm thinkin'; "sounds Metal, but still sounds like the original song, only in Metal"
