    The thing in your hand at the beginning of the video is not the magnetic timing wheel. You’re holding a cam phaser which doesn’t have magnets in it.
    The magnetic wheels are on the OPPOSITE end of the camshafts relative to each phaser. You want to avoid putting anything magnetic around those or else you’ll get bad or intermittent camshaft position sensor readings.

    Sooooo if put a strong, rare earth magnet on top of the valve cover, right above the cam phaser, can I cause the motor to break?

    How do you lift up on the paw off the rack? Can’t seem to find the right spot.

      Towards the front of the vehicle, small hole just behind the timing cover. Insert the tool and lift

    2017, Ram 1500, cam sensor , and both cam phasers on both sides, done under warranty luckily, at 38,000 miles. I hope this motor lasts, Is this typical????

    Changing RI camshaft - when trying to remove the phaser the whole camshafts (both) roll. Guess I need this plastic tool? However, I have been unable to locate where to find it? Can you point me in the right direction? Thanks. Great info and channel!

    How the hell do you get the chain tool in without breaking it on the right cam? Broke 2 of them now, no way it fits in.

      You must rotate the right exhaust cam clockwise to release the tension on the tensioner before you install the tool. See 1:36 in the video.

      @J Ronsonette i rotated the cam clockwise and still it won't move.

    Does it matter if it’s at top dead center on exhaust stroke as opposed to the compression stroke ?

    • @armaletalia3254
      @armaletalia3254 Před 3 lety

      Yes, because cams are in totally different position. Needs to be exhaust stroke.

      36 mm to remove the oil control valve which will allow you to remove the phaser.

    When you go to lift the pawl off the rack the hole is on the left hand side (towards the passenger wheel well. You are looking for a little hole in the side that the pin goes into.
