The thing in your hand at the beginning of the video is not the magnetic timing wheel. You’re holding a cam phaser which doesn’t have magnets in it.
The magnetic wheels are on the OPPOSITE end of the camshafts relative to each phaser. You want to avoid putting anything magnetic around those or else you’ll get bad or intermittent camshaft position sensor readings.
Sooooo if put a strong, rare earth magnet on top of the valve cover, right above the cam phaser, can I cause the motor to break?
P0016, P0017, P0018, P0019
How do you lift up on the paw off the rack? Can’t seem to find the right spot.
Towards the front of the vehicle, small hole just behind the timing cover. Insert the tool and lift
It's a pain in the ass
camshaft sensors and camshaft adjusters related ?? Because I was told my camshaft sensors need to be replace and camshaft adjusters.
2017, Ram 1500, cam sensor , and both cam phasers on both sides, done under warranty luckily, at 38,000 miles. I hope this motor lasts, Is this typical????
Yes...Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge, Ram with Pentastar V6
If I'm going to remove the cylinder heds, do I need to remove the timing chaing cover?.Thank in advance for your response.
Did you ever find out this answer I’m currently in the same predicament
Changing RI camshaft - when trying to remove the phaser the whole camshafts (both) roll. Guess I need this plastic tool? However, I have been unable to locate where to find it? Can you point me in the right direction? Thanks. Great info and channel!
Amazon has it. search for tool number he displays on the video.
How the hell do you get the chain tool in without breaking it on the right cam? Broke 2 of them now, no way it fits in.
You must rotate the right exhaust cam clockwise to release the tension on the tensioner before you install the tool. See 1:36 in the video.
@J Ronsonette i rotated the cam clockwise and still it won't move.
Does it matter if it’s at top dead center on exhaust stroke as opposed to the compression stroke ?
Yes, because cams are in totally different position. Needs to be exhaust stroke.
like your video i would like to know where to get all the tools needed appreciate it
Amazon
Hi i have a question about the deference about the leters in the engine (like a 6L and 2L)
engine displacement 6L = 6.0 liters or 366 cubic inches or 6000cc
What size socket and wrench is used to remove the Phaiser? Thank You
36 mm to remove the oil control valve which will allow you to remove the phaser.
So lets say I marked my timing but didnt do tdc? Would it be possible to do it right if your good enough?
Yes
When you go to lift the pawl off the rack the hole is on the left hand side (towards the passenger wheel well. You are looking for a little hole in the side that the pin goes into.
It's in the front of the tensioner.
jesus chriist. 360p resolution
