Wankhede will always be an iconic stadium for indian cricket. But why don't we redevelop brabourne stadium into a modern one as number of cricket games in mumbai are so many. Both stadiums can easily share the game burden.
It can also be used for football.

@@kushalrijal9453 that's a good notion. But whether cci which controls it would transfer that to aiff will depend on a lot of power play between the 2 bodies. But I do agree that ground is located perfectly to host international sports.
Its geography there is no space for redevelopment
Use that stadium for multisport but obviously in a country like India where cricketers are worshipped like demigods what can you expect

at Wankhede CWC 2011 finals, WT20 SF and many Tests)
i heard that CCI was private stadium and BCA used it on rent for their matches, when they fed up of mis-management they decid3d to build their own Stadium and thats how wankhede stedium get built.
and here in this video i get to know more reasons ..
