  • Every Friday the Osu castle is open to visitors and I would highly recommend for you to plan your Accra visit so you're there on a Friday. The Osu castle was definitely one of the highlights (besides visiting Jamestown:

). I would also like to suggest to visit the castle before closing time because then you get that beautiful sunset light, reflecting off the water which lays just outside of the castle.
When you enter the castle you'll be greeted by a guide sharing the all the history this places holds. It's rich and fascinating. The tour is free but the guide might appreciate a little tip.

As a rule, the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board don't do any kind of renovations on any of the castles and forts along the coast.

@@ge3176 There must some kind of body to manage them. In England it is called Historic England formerly known as English Heritage. It manages over 400 sites , buildings and monuments.
