So.... I found Mixed Chicks Styling Gel and Curl Sculptor at my local beauty supply store for $9.99 each. It FLAKED. Gotta watch as to why, NO SKIPPING. BUUUUUUT I learned a little something that helped me get rid of it....AND IT WORKED!!!!

I must be one of the few natural that didn't like eco-gels. It was so drying on my hair. But glad to see that your slowly backing away from eco-gel. Keep the " alternative" gel videos coming.

Agreed. I prefer a softer hold v. the hard crunchy hold of eco-gel.
I stopped using Eco too because it was drying out my hair, breaking it off, chemical smell and burning my eyes. I'm doing my best to find something comparable as far as hold, but it has been hard.

I'm a gel person too. I've purchased these products & my hair was like "say what now?!!" I bought the mixed chicks coil, kink & curl styling cream & used it with the leave-in. I got better results. Don't get me wrong.....it was nice, but nothing to write home about because it's not a gel. I've yet to learn what dime-sized amount is (very heavy-handed too). I'll try the warm water hack next time. I learned sumn today! Thanks for this video!! ❤️

No matter how many times i watch ya videos i still cant get my wash and go together but i think o figured it out! I need my hair to be more wet!🤦🏽 im going to try with camielle rose curl maker and hope for the best. My goal is to learn my hair as you know yours 😫

I used the Mixed Chicks Curl Sculptor with a Garnier conditioner and there was gunk all over my hair. I washed it out of my hair and then used the sculptor by it self. It was NOT elongating for me at all, in fact I don’t think I’ve used a product in a long time that GAVE me shrinkage. Glad it worked for you😊👍🏼, I had to toss it👎🏼😏.

So the green gel works best with drenched hair and air drying really helps control frizz. The yellow kind is for 2a-3a hair.

That’s for the hot water trick...I use oil. I replaced eco for the Cantu define & shine custard...you should try it!!!

I have recently discovered that my hair hates glycerin too. Living in humid Houston, my style and definition is lost before I even leave home when I use products with glycerin. Twist out perfection gone to waste. Smh.

Usually, as long as its not within the first 5 ingredients, it isn't a problem for me. I'm not sure the order in which it is in eco.. I haven't used eco for anything, other than my edges, for a while now. I'll use it in the next couple of weeks and report back. Lol

The warm water makes sense considering that the flaking is just excess product. This came out cute though! The products may do better for twist outs. I'm curious to see how they work separately because they may not be formulated to work together like we'd hope for.

The only non heavy gel I can use for wash n gos is Camille Rose Naturals Curl Maker, my curls will only last 2-3 days though 😭 It's hella moisturizing though, almost two weeks of moisture without reapplying product.
Yes, I used to use it here and there. Not my favorite tho.
happycurlhappygirl yes, it's doesn't have enough hold for me to use often and isn't cheap enough to purchase frequently. I'm glad you jumped on the Xtreme wetline train, been my favorite for a couple years now. These light gels and gelees aren't doing it for me.
I get awesome hold from their leave in conditioner. I apply my preferred L.I.C., mix the Mixed Chics LIC with my moisturizer OR apply moisturizer and then the LIC. It defines amazingly and has a good hold for my 3a-3c texture hair. 4 day W&G and in a puff for another 3-4 days
I tried the curl sculptor my hair didn’t really like it. I did try the styling cream and it mixes well eco. It also smell good.
Have you ever tried the Cantu Txtr Defining Cream and Gel? I would love to know what you think about that line. Keep up the great work! You are the only CZcams-r I watch religiously! Love you Rayyyy!!

Curls&Melanin Yes! I have to use their leave in with a more moisturizing leave in. If it didn’t cut down frizz the way it does, I’d never use it.

Curls&Melanin it’s because “mixed chicks” or girls with looser hair textures usually need less moisture, which is why I wouldn’t recommend anyone who wasnt a type 3 or lower to use. Not tryna tell yall what to do,just explaining what I think.

I know this is an old review but maybe you should try these 2instead the curl sculptor and the styling cream together..instead of that gel...all gels are not created equal...mixed chicks is an excellent brand I've used off and on for many years. And the styling cream helps with frizz
Like you said if they are by the same brand they SHOULD work well together even if you was heavy handed ... SMH mixed chicks issa no for me... But your hair always look BOMB 👌

i have never thought to try mixed chicks products due to my type 4 hair, i feel like its made more for looser curl patterns. maybe i might give the deep conditioner a try since im seeing a lot of people saying its really good. my fav gel at the moment is the mane choice biotin infused styling gel, that replaced my eco gel and it slicks my hair down just as good.

Try taliah waajid curl souflee. Very moisturizing and curl defining. It's a one product wash and go for my 4a/3c hair

I'm trying find a new gel for my wash and go's. But flaking is always an issue for my texture. I tried doing a no gel wash n go but my hair was poofing up by day 3. Can you do a video using Giovanni hair products? I lived for their deep condition but am sceptical about the gels?!

Can you do a one product wash n go using Texture ID Creme or Design Essential Creme.
Tiffany M the DE creme gel is everything NOTHING compared to the texture id imo... the texture id had no hold but i could get a good 4-5 days out of a DE creme gel

happycurlhappygirl mine hates them too! Ive tried the eden body works one and texture id and just gave up... i used my sisters DE creme gel and i ended up borrowing it and not returning it. She hasnt even noticed bc its been months. 😭😭
