Psychopaths are very prone to boredom. Having to pack a suitcase, a boring & mundane task, but be excited & engaged doing the death trap engineering actually makes total sense.
Psychopaths aren't more prone to boredom then anyone else. They are just normal people. The only difference is they don't feel empathy. They can still understand what people are feeling, and are generally well adjusted.
I think you're thinking of autism/adhd
It’s also entirely accurate to how a child would act
@@nyoho5554 "The only difference is they don't feel empathy. They can still understand what people are feeling, and are generally well adjusted."
You are thinking of a sociopath. The pathology is social interaction. Psychopathology is a broken psyche, like Norman Bates, who felt empathy (for his mother)..it's just that he didn't know he was broken.
@@TheRealNormanBatesThere is no such thing as "psychopathy" or "sociopathy". Those are no longer accepted terms in the DSM-5. There is only Anti-Social Personality Disorder, and they don't have a "broken psyche". They are not the serial killers from sensationalized movies.
o5554 Not having empathy is just 1 antisocial trait. Psychopathy is more than that, it's a distinct neurotype. But, to be fair, "psychopath" also has a slang meaning that is very broad, & just means not having things like empathy, shame, or guilt.
"You want a movie where an 8 year old childs wife cheats on him?"
Oh my god, that whole set up and punchline was absolutely hilarious.
Yeah I loved the delivery of the line as well
In reality, the suitcase inconsistency made perfect sense for me. As a kid, I hated doing anything my parents asked me and would make it way more difficult than it needed to be. But that didn't mean I couldn't be very clever and industrious when left to my own devices.
There is that funny aversion as a kid to do anything that might be considered a 'chore' that your parents ask you to do. I felt it too. I wonder if reverse psychology would work? Like Mom saying: "Definitely don't wash the dishes, fold your laundry or tidy up the house! Don't do it! Go play video games all day, but don't stop to put away your dishes or anything."
I feel that would probably fail, too. It's just pulling teeth to get most kids to do chores, isn't it?
I'm a grown ass-man ( darn you, xkcd ) with ADHD, some form of autism and depression. I find it extremely hard to just get up and do the simplest things but I can spend hours diving into completely irrelevant plans in detail, making spreadsheets and presumably optimizing death traps made from toys. Not packing his shit felt like the most relatable thing.
As a father in a big family, there is nothing unbelievable about losing a kid. When the cousins come with us to the water park it's a miracle that I've only lost two.
Totally. My extended family has somewhere between 60-70 people, I don’t even know anymore. And we do have gatherings and trips together often. As an adult now, I actually like how I can slip away and no one will even notice 😂
as long as come home with as many as u left with
Yeah, I came from a really big family, and various siblings got forgotten a number of times. That part isn’t actually unbelievable at all lol.
I'm the middle of three. I'm forgotten by _all_ my relatives. Constantly.
That is why you have a big family so if you do lose one or two it's eh, we got more. I kid!
Also, while I was in Iraq I was talking to the head of a big local family and I asked why a lot of the people in his country have very big families. He explained to me that their kids are going to be the ones that take care of the parents when they become elderly. Therefore, you have a large family so if a few are duds then you can count on the responsible and successful children to be able to take care of you when you are elderly. Not sure if it is the reason for all big families but I always enjoyed that story. Also, also, not super relevant but I figured I'd share. Merry Christmas! 🙃
"You want to make a movie where a child's wife cheats on him?" Years later, and this jokes still slays me!
Seems comical until you realize that up until 100 or so years ago 7 year olds were legal (I'm looking at you Catholics...and Delaware). No, it's terrible regardless of the year.
@@scotthughes3721No it's still pretty funny, ya gatekeepering gatekeeper

"Vomit onto the page and pick out the chunks." is by far the best writing advice I've ever heard.
Me too!
The entire movie would not have happened if buzz didn’t take Kevin’s pizza.
Right. In retrospect, Buzz should have met his demise via Kevin's dark powers.
@@jaredjams4267that’s such a weird sentence to say out loud.
Or if Kevin wasn't a pu$$y and didn't insist on cheese--only pizza.
Yeah but you could also say that the family's prize possessions would have been stolen if Buzz didn't take Kevin's pizza. As well as a Chicago crime wave coming to an end.
Buzz really is the worst. Including in the next movie. I don't understand how the rest off the family wouldn't realize that. It's not like he's hiding it. Usually parents know which kid is to blame and which kid to believe.
I like nasally Ryan, he seems very approachable
Yes. AI Ryan seems more human than regular old Ryan. 😂
AI Ryan is tight!
He has a much better moustache too
But isn’t going to be very difficult to replace real Ryan with AI Ryan?
@@nsh1980gmailNo, super easy, barely an inconvenience
This was one of the best older ones imo
The opening bit, there delivery of the jokes, and the suspension of disbelief bit are absolute gold.
The "50 bad ideas" tip is amazing! Thanks, Ryan!
The part about writing purposefully bad ideas is some of the best advice Ive ever heard.
Please Ryan do Home Alone 2. Cuz we need to talk about how irresponsible this family is leaving a kid alone for 3 movies.
three? Kevin was only in the first two
It's the same family for only 2 movies. The 3rd one is another unrelated kid
Your mom left you home alone for 3 movies.
@@GodRabbit90yeah but they leave him home alone again in the fourth one
And do Highlander. I'm sure you can figure out a joke for the ending bit.
I like to talk about the plot holes in movies and my grandmother always tells me "suspension of disbelief" lol I missed this original pitch meting so I'm so glad you revisited this one
You sound like my mom when watching movies with her
@@MyScorpion42imagine watching a scary movie with your mom but any subtle spooking, causes her to scream like she's being murdered.
😒
But
Tbh it's funny cause it gets everyone closest to her to jump from shock. Makes the movie 10 percent funnier since she's not a horror fan and tries to finish the film since someone else chose to watch it, but since Latino, some family members watch anything relating to the spooky like every other day.(not me, since I like spooking myself alone in the night)
My wife does the same. But the thing is that there are plot holes and there are situations where you must suspend disbelief. Home Alone requires the suspension of disbelief to imagine all of these things occurring so the movie can happen. Not difficult since it is pretty much a live action cartoon anyway, the Tom & Jerry slapstick violent kind of cartoon. But then there are real plot holes where a movie breaks its own rules.
My stepdad does this… anyone asks “Why did he do that?” “Because it’s in the script”
I’m a big fan of AI Ryan. Can’t wait for him to join the Ryanverse.
Hi OneTopic! 💙
Something random but do you agree that kevin has ADHD and he's a psychopath
Yo one topic, live your stuff too
Dude not only prolific and genious, but so humble too. And , also, not many people point this out. Your humour is so kind-spirited ! Thanks for existing!
Well he *_is_* Canadian, sooooo
I think that's what I really like about Ryan. He is a breath of fresh air in a world of aggressive humor; which I enjoy as well but it's nice to have alternatives.
Ryan's drawings after the pitch meeting is what I live for
Living for small stuff is tight!
Ironic because it is to die for... 😜
Your "Home Alone" pitch meeting was the first one I watched, and I've been hooked on your videos ever since! I spent the first few months thinking, "Those two guys are hilarious." Then a few weeks thinking, "Are those two guys related? They look alike." Then finally, I realized: "That guy is cloning himself."
That's a ridiculous idea. They're obviously alternate versions of the same person from different dimensions.
Clone Alone
Thank you for including the messy audio! There are a variety of ways people handle this, but being able to hear the original recording without you having to attempt to repeat yourself is very appreciated.
You should do a Pitch Meeting for National Treasure!!! I feel like it's the perfect movie for one
Almost too easy
Barely an inconvenience?
Who did use Yahoo search?
I love those movies (the first two) yeah they're silly and unrealistic but I still love them
I didn't realise he hasn't done it. There is an ample amount of suspension of disbelief in that movie
I understand your pivot to being more rapid fire, but allowing bits the time they need to marinate and thrive is a virtue and for me, personally, after seeing mostly newer skits it's actually a breath of fresh air to see one where you just have so much confidence in the bit that you wring every bit of humor out of the premise. It's great because in this instance it truly is baffling how far the writer expected suspension of disbelief to take them. It's kind of like a Leo Vader video in that way, where instead of hitting every note, you hyperfixate on this one inexplicable point of how the movie functions and just keep shining a light on it and forcing the audience to stare into the abyss. It's just lovely.
I agree, I had to recheck that it was a 'revisited' as it felt much more "marinating" :P
Unfortunately I think the numbers are in favor of the rapid fire. TikTok attention span and all, not for old school CZcamsrs :/
Knowing you get into character by giving a big dumb smile is amazing. Thanks for the insight, I'll be sure to try it if I need to be stupidly happy.
In these older ones, the voices (especially Screenwriter Guy) are much less exaggerated, and I think that, along with the less-dense pacing, causes that strange feeling of kinda flatness in comparison with the new stuff. But I remember seeing this at the time, and it didn’t feel that way at all! It’s purely an effect of how they’ve changed to become denser and wackier. Super cool to go back and compare!
I love Home Alone. I feel like the theme of bringing families back together (his own and how he helps his neighbor reconnect with his daughter) that play as the thematic undertone of the movie is very much in the spirit of Christmas movies imo.
definitely this! and also why i will maintain that die hard is NOT a christmas movie because there is nothing christmas-y about murdering terrorists.
@@dietotaku but he is murdering terrorists so he can save and spend time with his ex wife and kids to try and bring his family back together. lol

I actually really love hearing Ryans background on the early Pitch Meetings I have watched so many times over the years.
you're consistently funny bc you don't use your platform for anything but humor. Even when you bring up political or social issues it's not pandering to either, but actually using it to augment the humor. It makes the whole experience wholesome rather than infuriating, which a lot of content creators don't seem to get. I respect the hell out of you.
Omg this! This is exactly why I love him. He has that 90s/early 2000 tv sitcom vibes when humour was about making people laugh and have fun. Now it's like everything has to have a message. 😭
Thank you Ryan for being such a humble person. It’s one of the most important aspects of success. Fame turns many people toxic so it’s very refreshing to see consistency in both your content and your character
Already my favorite "revisited." Your simple advice on how you sometimes write can be adapted to many other fields of work. Maybe not medicine or engineering, but you get the idea.
Funniest line you ever said was in the Pitch Meeting for the second Home Alone movie. "My disbelief is so suspended right now!"
As an Italian I love the bit about the fish. Usually Joe (Gio in italian) is short for Giovanni, Giuseppe is shortened to Peppe or Beppe. Love you, byeee
You should do a Pitch meeting for the new "Godzilla Minus One" movie but only talk about the cool aspects of it on how it is making Hollywood look bad for such a low budget movie, great characters that viewers care about and special effects.
The AI voice thing was jarring at first but then halfway through my brain just accepted that...this is definitely the way Ryan George sounds
You should do some pitch meetings for some of the real old classics.
Like Casablanca, The Wizard of Oz, From here to Eternity, or Ben Hur. Or any of the many great movies made before 1970.
He addressed why he doesn't do old movies in a previous Q&A. Unfortunately I forget what he said so you'll have to spend the rest of your life wondering.
He already explained why he doesn't do that in another "revisited" video. Basically it's because every pitch meeting ends with a headline from a Screen Rant news article about the movie. Obviously Screen Rant didn't exist back then so there are no articles for him to use
@@KarlBunkeri believe he said that he's kind of limited to movies that there are articles about due to the thing at the end of pitch meetings
Producer : “ so Rick has to convince Ilsa to leave her husband , the loyal nazi resistance fighter who’s only console ,during his time in a prison camp, was his undying love of his wife . That has to be difficult?. “
Writer : “ no problem at all ,Barely an inconveniences . After a few words about pairs and the fashions of the time , she was ready to leave her husband , to the hands of the Nazis ….again .”
@@milestonowheres No, if I remember correctly, it's pretty much the opposite. Rick has to convince Ilsa to leave him behind and go with her husband, because if she doesn't, she'll "regret it; maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon, and for the rest of your life", and as for Rick and her, well, they'll "always have Paris".
Even something simple like the mic not working gets a laugh. Thanks Ryan for all the great clips.
I'm still hoping they make a movie about Kevin when he's an all-grown-up psychopath and the death traps he makes nowadays. A bit like Saw, but jolly and heartwarming and starring grown-up Maculay Culkin.
Jolly Saw = oxymoron 😂
Maybe he's a CIA agent now. Or FBI.

Will you ever do another poll again for your audience to choose a future pitch meeting?
Also bring back the thing screenwriter guy and producer guy do where they say nice to each other like in the transformers pitch meeting, that always makes me smile 😁
1. This is a top five pitch meeting for me, and the one I’m most likely to send someone who’s never heard of the channel.
2. The “Left alone wife cheating” bit is by far my favorite of the offscreen character development type bits you’ve ever done. I’m typically not a fan of the jokes that pretend to go into the characters lives outside of the room, and I prefer when the pitch meeting just starts immediately with the movie. but this one absolutely kills me. 🤣
3. I would go farther in the Christmas defense of this movie, and say that it absolutely could not function without being a Christmas movie - both plot wise (everyone else needed to be out of town on the street, the flights had to all be booked, etc. Removing all of these elements would basically make the movie 45 minutes, more of just a long sketch where somehow a kid is alone when burglars come) but more importantly, thematically: the purpose and message of the movie is entirely based around the true spirit of Christmas being family. Everything with the old man neighbor, Kevin‘s one wish being to see his family again, both families reuniting together at the same time, etc.
IMO, saying this movie could work without being a Christmas movie would be like saying that Christmas Vacation could just be about a family reunion at a different time of year… Is it literally possible? Sure. But it would be a fundamentally different movie on all levels. (compared to say Die Hard, which I absolutely love, but could be made without Christmas with a few pretty inconsequential changes).
Hey Ryan, watching the Revisited videos I was wondering do you ever get tempted to completly do-over any Pitch Meeting and if so, which one(s)?
