    Siem Reap is a bustling city that has grown tremendously since our first trip to Cambodia 11 years ago. The town center is made up of the bustling Pub Street, multiple markets and cute shops as well as boutique properties. Angkor Wat, the main attraction is a 15 minute drive from city center. The Park Hyatt sits in the center of town, just a quick walk from Pub Street and the markets, yet is perfectly quiet and serene inside the four walls.
    Park Hyatt is in a historic building that was renovated when Hyatt took by one of our favorite designers, Bill Bensley. The style beautifully blends a mid-century style with traditional fabrics, artwork and decor. This style is clear the moment you step into the lobby and are greeted by the staff wearing beautiful silks. The check in happens in The Living Room while you are seated and served a beverage of your choice off a welcome drink menu, which was a nice touch. We were checked in by a lovely staff member who took his time and showed us to our room.
    We booked the Park Hyatt on points which is generally a great value. Standard rooms start only at 12,000 points in its current Category 4 placement. We booked a Park Suite which sits at around 764 square feet. We were given a unique version of the Park Suite that features a beautiful patio with direct access to the fresh water pool on the 1st floor.
    Cambodian people are some of the kindest people we have ever encountered on our travels. We remarked about this 11 years ago and it’s still true today. They are so hospitable, open and genuinely caring. It’s fantastic to see that employees at the Park Hyatt were not jaded in any way and were so willing to try and help and provide a good experience. Overall, the service was genuine and heartfelt and does give you a sense for Cambodian culture thanks to their personalities being generally lovely.

    I love that room with the swim up pool almost as much as the funky living room !

      We're normally not in to the traditional swim up rooms, but this was so cool! It felt like you were in a hidden temple lagoon somewhere!

    Fantastic advice! Yes they do offer take-away breakfast! I will check with the concierge.

      Perfect! You're going to have amazing time! One more thing we'd recommend would be to go to the Angkor National Museum the day before you go to Angkor wat. It only take a couple hours to go through the museum, but it really helps you get a background for the history of the area, and significance of the temples beyond just their beauty. The museum is only about a 10-12 minute walk from the hotel, or a short Tuk Tuk ride :)
      If you're going to be staying in Phnom Penh on your trip, be sure to check out our video of the Rosewood, just came out today! czcams.com/video/w1i0QE64VKc/video.html

      @@VoyagerGuru I will let you know in June! I am primarily a World of Hyatt person but IHG’s luxury brands are very intriguing. Keeping my fingers crossed I won’t regret it.

      Haha hard to move away from the reliability of Hyatt, we know that all to well! Definitely let us know! Also if you're ever booking Hyatt's on a cash rate, we have access to Hyatt Prive perks, which depending on the hotel/resort can be crazy good! Just reach out anytime!

    We are staying in June. We did book a sunrise tour of Angkor Wat thru the hotel. Was this the tour you had problems with?

    • @VoyagerGuru
      @VoyagerGuru  Před měsícem

      Hey there! That’s for your comment! That tour was ok- the guide was excellent (ask for peaches). There’s nothing special about booking the tour for that price, they don’t actually give you the scarves (unless you ask), no coffee or wake up call, no snacks or anything like that. For the price, we’d expect a little something extra like a to-go breakfast. We also only got one water bottle so bring water. I would also say do not do the wine tour- that was the real fail. The hotel is gorgeous though- siem reap is amazing

      @@VoyagerGuru thanks for the reply! Very interesting! The hotel website does seem to imply a bit of guest pampering if you book through the hotel so I will definitely keep your recommendations in mind!

      @VoyagerGuru  Před měsícem +1

      Yea :/ that’s what we expected too but sadly not. Going in knowing it’s more standard will hopefully help avoid some disappointment :) enjoy siem reap!! Such a lovely city

      I heeded your advice and made advance breakfast arrangements with the hotel concierge. They will return us back to the hotel midway through the tour for breakfast before resuming the tour.

      @@kevinrazban8906 that's great to hear! Certainly if you'd like to have more of a sit down breakfast, that's your best option. Just keep in mind, the temples get busier as the day goes on, so when you head back after breakfast the larger tour groups (cruise/bus style) will be there. If it were me, I'd have the Hotel prepare to-go boxes to stay at the temples and stay ahead of the crowds :) If you have any other questions, feel free to email us at team@voyagerguru.com or DM us on instagram!
