@fen1xdown yeah it's not bad. We bring our 2 kids and it's around a 100-120 for seats and snacks in a decent spot. Looking at the pricing of NHL season tickets we will probably keep going to the grizz games just because of the value.

I grew up going to Everblades games (that inspired my love for hockey), and they are the beloved local hometown team next to the FGCU Basketball Team. Words cannot describe how this town lit up when the Blades became 3-Peat Champions. If the Panthers win the Stanley Cup, we can confidentially say hockey runs through South Florida (of all places in North America).

Go Blades! Have been going to their games for years, including being there for the first of three Kelly Cup wins. There are a lot of transplants (including me) and visiting Canadians in SWFL during the season, which I’m sure drives attendance. Also helps that they seem to have a good FO.

It was fun hockey, but after watching NHL games in person, I couldn't go back. The players seemed so much slower back then.
The Turner Cup used to be awarded to the winner in the IHL. That was a fun league. I was working in Houston, and was at some games. The final was won by Houston, against The Orlando Solar Bears...

This season I am glad that the Mavericks did not win after the mess that was the Western Conference finals with multiple questionable calls in that series that ended with Toledo falling. This ECHL season was full of multiple records, especially in the post season and while I would prefer that my team hold the biggest one, it still is exciting that somebody did the threepeat.
I went to the game 7 against Colorado a few years back and they lost but that atmosphere was absolutely insane. Still never been to a nhl playoff game, as a panthers fan not a ton of history there to try. But it’s legit
I used to live in an ECHL market for the team called the Brampton Beast and was a season ticket holder but due to covid the team shutdown wish they were still a team
We have the Sharks ECHL affiliate here in Wichita. Love going to the games, but wish we were a bigger hockey city. I think it would be so much more fun if we were.
Live about 3 minutes from the arena. What a great year to be a Blades/Panthers fan. Everblades got a lot of us SW Florida natives into hockey along with the Panthers.
Orlando Solar Bears is a pretty cool name too. Newfoundland had a team in the ECHL (Newfoundland Growlers) but folded mid-season this year. They were a fun team to watch but I guess they couldn't stop hemorrhaging money.
I wonder about Minor League hockey, like do people look at it as the Budget NHL? I know I look at the Toronto Marlies that way. It's the store brand of the Leafs, though I do think that AHL and ECHL teams should always be in smaller markets, places where Major Junior teams flourish, like the London Knights
It's not uncommon for AHL teams to be in the same city (Toronto, San Jose, Colorado, Calgary, etc.), and most of them are at least within a couple hours of their parent club. ECHL has a lot of franchises in that "next tier" of cities, and in places that don't have major league teams they can carve out a pretty decent market for themselves.
The ECHL is great hockey, and the Everblades' dynasty is quite impressive. "Lower-level" professional hockey is still above junior hockey. These guys have already been through the junior and college ranks. Halifax could actually be a good market for a team, but it seems like they like junior hockey too much to move up (I'm guessing - I live nowhere near there).
I wish i had a local echl team in my area so I could attend hockey games for cheap. But we have the Florida Panthers which is an NHL team that you may or may have not heard of. Either way the minor league hockey experience sounds pretty cool too tho.
ECHL teams in Canada have a long history of not succeeding. Newfoundland folded, Victoria lasted one season, and who knows how long until Trois Rivieres is gone?
The concept that people have difficulties grasping is that the difference between the NHL and the ECHL is paper thin. Smaller things at the professional level make bigger differences as a player. For example, many of the ECHL players skate as well as or better than many players in the NHL and even have skills to match. But, maybe they have as hard a shot as Evan Bouchard but it takes longer to get it away. Josh Ho-Sang according to Don Cherry could skate like Connor McDavid AND was as highly skilled but it was his attitude. Bottom line, the ECHL calibre of hockey is at least half that of the NHL but the ticket prices are probably a much less than half. Therefore, I would suggest that you might be getting better calue for your dollar spent. It's like dining on prime rib roast instead of Kobe beef.
I've never seen a ECHL game, live or otherwise. I've seen a lot of NHL games and junior games, and a few AHL games. I've heard the 'E' is an exciting brand of hockey, some people say even moreso than the NHL. I'm wondering if there are more mistakes made at this level, it appears more exciting. I'm honestly not trying to demean the lower leagues, trust me...I can't even skate. But I've always been curious about the take when someone says "you can keep your NHL, I'm a fan of junior hockey, much more exciting...at least the kids try"
If I lived in an ECHL market, I'd be at games all the time.
We catch as many grizzlies games as we can and they are always a good time.
iirc they're reasonably priced, last time I went to one I got 2 tickets, drinks, and dinner for under $100

I went to estero and watched a game this season..i.m.o. this is a an AHL level team playing in the ECHL.
