I'm in gr.10 and I want to be a family physician but the part in your videos where your studying,writing notes etc scares me 😭 it's already hard enough for me start studying I'm to addicted with other stuff mostly a online competitive game and I'm the leader of my own clan and i lose sleep just to not disappoint my members. It's pretty sad

I commend you! im not sure why or how it's healthy or even safe to do 24-hour shifts knowing what we know about the human body and sleep deprivation. But I commend you on your hard work and dedication to your work and your viewers. Your optimistic view is infectious; I can see this from your colleague's behavior around you. I hope it pays off for you in dividends but mostly in life satisfaction and happiness.
I had a rough week last week and just didn’t study much at all and wasn’t motivated to do anything, so I fell behind on my lectures and practice quizzes, but watching your videos always motivate me so much!!! I’m so ready and motivated to get back into it so thank you!!!!! Hi America. I am a future trauma surgeon. I have a long way to go but these videos keep me going. I am a grade 12 student in Canada and I am currently doing a coop placement in my local hospital, doing a lot of work in the OR. I just wanted to thank you for all your hardwork. You are so inspiring! Also, you should try and collab with Siobhan the violin Md. Just finished watching her video. She one of my favorites as well. Anyways, hope all is well! I am already a graduate and licensed physician in my country (post internship). I moved to different country, but currently I don't work as a doctor, because I can't sort out my license just yet. I always watch your videos to remind myself how much struggle and JOY at the same time medicine brings. I think I rewatched all of your vids maybe about the million times (oops I know). Your videos are my daily inspiration and reminder to not give up and keep trying to reach my goal. bless you.

America, your dedication is beyond admirable. It makes me really sad to see the system doing everything to damage the health of the very people who are trying to heal the sick. Insane working hours wreck your hormones, make it extremely hard or impossible to eat healthy fresh foods, call for stimulants, wreck your social life, night shifts have carcinogenic effect and so on and on.
Perfect time for this to come out. Just had our pediatric exam today and onto studying for our surgery exam on Friday. :) (PA school). Hopefully this makes me more motivated because I am just exhausted. 5 more weeks until I get 1 week break for summer! :)

I agree about not having a set sleep schedule with 24 hour shifts. My mom does those kinds of shifts and yeah it’s not fun witnessing her messed up sleep schedule 😂

I'm a medical student in London, UK. Our surgery rotations are nowhere near this intense. We do nights and such but never 24 hours. The most intense rotation I had was Obs/Gynae because we had to be involved in 5 births, some of which happened late at night/early morning. Still interesting to see how things are different in the US.
