      Andy - what is the difference between the DSP2&3? Better filtering? Is the hardware different, or is it just a software upgrade?

    Mine is coming tomorrow. I'm 57 now and built my 1st AM radio when I was 9 years old lol.
    Love how technology advanced over the years. Got an SDR dongle on my laptop but wanted something of high quality and totally portable.
    I'm into data modes now, especially SSTV. This is the beast I've been waiting for 💪👌

    I just ordered one for me here in the USA for $309.69! Says it has 2.40 update out of the box. Crossing my fingers that it will be as good as in the video. Never had any trouble from Aliexpress in the past and have ordered several things from them since 2014. Yes, takes a while but they are in Hong Kong, so give them a break. I've had several emails back and forth from one of the ladies there that speaks perfect English and she was helpful and nice. I had ordered a Tecsun PL-330 and the problem I had with the radio was not Aliexpress's fault. But she helped me fix the problem! Been a great little radio since.

      I can't wait to get this new Malahit DSP 2!! Deepelec says he'll have new stock in a week or less and most likely it'll be 2.4!! And hopefully won't be the Beta version because I want one with 2.4 full on or a 2.3 and I can wait to program it myself!

    • @misteredison2175
      @misteredison2175 Před 9 měsíci +1

      @sunsoundz , update, they're too slow to restock so I found a Real Russian Malahit DSP 2 to purchase! I imagine it too will be able to upgrade to 2.4. After almost getting ripped off on Aliexpress and then slowed up, I doubt I'll ever buy anything from that website! I also found out that the Russian Malahit Team already has DSP 3 and 4 out! So maybe I'll get one of those someday! I've got a Chinese V5..that's all the radio I think I need from them. I like their new DSP 2 but the problem has always been stock!

      The original malahit is made in russia by two ham radio amateurs. The waiting time is very long and the momentary situation made it very difficult to pay to russia. So they gave license to some chinese companies to build 'clones' in china with full licensed software. There are different models of clones on the market, but this M2 chinese malahit is the most robust made case, very nice design and very professional inside with good quality parts.

    Thanks I looked in the comments thread I am new to this practice of short wave Which antenna is needed to obtain the best performance and what are the best settings? I currently have the supplied antenna and I also have an Xdata AN 80 wire antenna that rolls up Can we connect 2 antennas at the same time to the connectors You talked about. What is SNR? Thank you for your previous response and in advance for this one. I am in Var area France Sincerely

    • @sunsoundz
      @sunsoundz  Před 10 měsíci +2

      First it's very dependent of the frequencies you like to receive what kind of antenna you will need, as well if you have a lot of space to mount longwire antennas for hf for example...
      For the begin I recommend you a active loop antenna, is compact and you will have great results on hf 10khz - 30Mhz (MLA30+), some even go up until 180 mHz like the K-180WLA. You find these on ebay or AliExpress and they can be used in and outdoors and don't have to be mounted very high to have good results. If you are more interested in VHF/UHF reception I recommend you a Discone antenna, which is very wide in the reception range, this needs to be mounted as high as possible to get good results .
      You can connect two antennas to this malahit, one high impedance and one 50ohm. You can switch the input in the software.
      SNR is the difference between noise level and the signal. As better the signal as higher is the SNR.
      Hope this helped you, Greetings
