It’s official. Grandmothers all over the world have the same fruit magnets.
I always wondered why my grandma had those on her fridge... :)
Like seriously. Does that come with the grandma starter kit or they just start adapting to grandma life. I bet she got a pocket full of mint
My mom has them too but I think she got them from my grandma, so your argument still applies!

LMAO! I thought the same thing!
Divided by race, religion and nationality, United by granny’s love for fruit magnets

😂😂😂😂
It's interesting because we never had fruit magnets on the fridge while i was growing up and somehow my mum got them just sometime before my sister got pregnant

The way she said "we were not allowed" sent chills down my spine. Her pain was extremely palpable in her words.

I love how clueless his grandmother is about how famous he is.
That's the joy of family to a famous person.
Hes still 3 year old trevor to her. Nothing will ever change that.
IKR Precious!
There is no electricity.
She may not realize the impact of what Trevor has done, but she is not surprised he has succeeded! You can see the pride and the love! Their interaction is the same as any my grandmother has shared with her grandkids, may she Rest In Peace.
Some people are critising Trevor for not buying her grandmother a house and new furniture. Just to let you know, if you read Trevor's book Born a Crime, Trevor explains that gogo doesn't want her furniture refurbished and certainly she doesn't want to be moved. And that applies to all our South African gogo's actually, the furniture and the house is part of them, they don't define success by flashy things but are content with life and memories!
Most of African Grandmother Like the way they live and very happy
His mother refuses to move too and she lives near her ex that nearly killed her.
Amen! Every single word is true
At age 91, why would she wish to move away from her community, away from the life she built and held onto despite all the hardships? I’m sure he does other things to make his gogo’s life easier, gifts that do not disrespect her accomplishments. Their affection for each other is very evident!
Plus there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the furniture?
She is the cutest thing. Even at this age she is aware of everything her grandson is saying and meaning. How lovely her sense of humour is.
i think your comment is underrated!
Very true I literally said the same thing 😆

Hey no offense Trevor, but your grandma is way cooler than you. We should just give Gogo her own show.

Whenever she goes "noo Trevor" I. Can totally hear the tone he's copying when telling stories about his grandma. Gogo the queen, the legend!!
When he copies his little brothers that's what they sound like too! Gogo❤
As a South African😌 I'd like to point out that at 07:28, She didn't say "You!" She actually meant "Yoh!"😊 Which is a South African slang term that conveys awe, surprise or disbelief. Adds emotion to the sentence😉 and is synonymous with "wow". 🇿🇦😏
Yessss ...I have a South African friend too

Everyone should read Trevor's book honestly! It made me want to meet the women in his life, particularly his badass queen of a mother! Obviously I admire Trevor as well, but Patricia Noah is a legend! I would honestly kneel if I ever met her. She went through so much and never lost her spirit. She raised a biracial child in a racist society, bringing him up to be a bright, intelligent and compassionate human! I am so in awe of both Gogo and Patricia ❤❤❤😍
@H S wait he wrote a book ?!
I'm reading it right now and I realized how much most of us are privileged to not have lived that kind of life. Living in the terror and the smell of death around you.
I wish my granny was this bilingual. People don't get how rare English speaking people are from that generation. And her mind was so active for that age.
I love how Trevor reacts to his grandma's answers as if it was the first time he had heard them :D
You know gogos and grandmas tell the same stories 1000 times lol. We still listen though❤
This segment wasn't long enough. It's just so powerful.

We need to interview our elders, such amazing stories that will soon be lost. Loved this, best interview ever!
Most people would wonder why Trevor still lets his granma stay in a home like this, truth is most of our grandparents have grown to love their neighborhood and would refuse to move to a suburban big house, the only thing they ask for is to be taken care of
So true my grandma lived in the poorest part of El Salvador we would beg her to come move to the states with us she even had a green card. But she refused to she would only come live with us for six months which is the requirement to keep her green card
Yes! Often my grandmothers have been to my home and my parents home and say it's too big!
Sensible people find it strange that you'd look at a person's home, along with microwaves, TVs, and plumbing and look down on them.
As long as they can manage living there (health-wise) it makes sense. That's where all their memories and friends are.
She's 91 and speaking clearly. I bet she outlives everyone here. But racism? Call me the common sense doctor
For all those from the U.S. and developed countries needs to realize around the world family oriented countries, money is not the center of life. Elderly people get so attached to their homes moving her to a fancy house, will be devastating all her memories and experiences in life are where she is, a fancy life will kill her so fast. As long she have medical assistance and all her bills paid is what matters to her, her memories is all what she have
Well said
Plus all her friends live there.
She seems so happy and healthy. The hassle of a move is a lot. She's a 91 year old grandmother enjoying her golden years. Her house is immaculate. As long as she's safe and satisfied.

Trever Was So Cute As A Baby And It’s Very Awesome That He From Africa. And Having That Conversation With His Grandma. My Dad’s Family Is From Africa
I’m a black South African living and working in Dubai .. a voice in the back of my head was saying why does he not buy her a house. And I realized that although I earn a good amount of money. My mother still lives in her apartheid house. And she does not want to move, it’s good to see how Trevor still maintains his African customs simple things like knocking before you enter even though it’s your house. Greeting the neighbors whether you are friends or not this is small things that are rare in most places of the world.
Siliziwe Lusasa and people have a tendency of assuming that we don’t love our parents if you don’t buy them a nicer house but they never want to move or anything like that
Siliziwe Lusasa i thought the same...then i said if he took out of her home she wouldn't do as good. Like a fish out of water it would probably hurt her beautiful spirt not help her. She's great where she is huh
He only has $13,000,000. A new house in S.A. could run as high as $10,000. He didn't make it out of poverty to help others. Don't they have their bootstraps to pull on?
African grandmothers don't wanna leave there house because is full of memories.
So similar to India.
It's sooo easy for people to criticise Trevor for not upgrading his grandmother's house but as a Kasi Kid from SA🇿🇦... I came to realise that most of our elders want to keep things the same and we must respect that, please.
They do too.. My grandmother was just the same and we live in America..
At 1st I wondered the same; then I figured his grandmother wanted no change, including her teeth... Many elders share that view while many elders would accept change... I have elders (here in USA) who were on both sides of that coin Peace w/ a smile
um, no. help her out more Trev.
You can't just trash the decision of your elders Mr Adam Brass... Sometimes you just have to let them be

Trevor has won the Erasmus Prize in the Netherlands and will be presented by King Willem Alexander! Congratulations!
what is so sad and so poignant is when he is trying to convince his grandmother that white people work for HIM, and she literally does not believe him at first. that entire exchange is heart-wrenching and beautiful, somehow, at the same time.
Lol she was playing, the fact that you didn’t even pick up on that 🙄
Its a BIG difference between white and black parenting (cultural), Master at None is a good example. What a lively and funny Grandma. Trevor's comedic notes certainly have roots.
Enjoyable. Seeing you go back home and " meeting " your grandmother, brings memories of my own.

Y’all do know his gogo is African and she’s not moving EVER right?! He could buy her a 50 room mansion and she would be highly pissed off. She’s set in her ways, he knows that so he just fixes her house when she lets him
That’s literally my grandmother in Somalia(East Africa) she doesn’t want to come to america even though where she lives isn’t safe. She just lets my dad pay for repairs of the house.
True but he could have gotten her a generator. 😐
@@istarabdullahi7952 My nana came to the States for exactly one month. She was supposed to stay indefinitely but she said our lives are too crazy. She couldn't get over the fact that we work so hard and no one is ever home. Also you have to call before visiting anyone and that's still a WHOLE PLANNED TRIP?!
She went back to her small house back home and is happier than all of us combined lol.
My mom would throw me out of her house if I started sweeping or cleaning when I visited 😂 r.i.p. Joann🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
@@ABCScandalFanatic He will if she let's him.
Thank you for allowing us to share with Gogo . I laughed and cried at the same time. What a beautiful spirit in person. May her soul rest in Powerful peace 💗💝
This was like eating a hearty meal. Makes me feel happy and good inside. Diamonds in the rough , irregardless of what will always shine.
I swear... no matter where you are in the world. All black grandmothers have those same refrigerator magnets. I'm from Louisiana and my grandmother had those exact same ones.
Jarod Dawson I was just about to say the same 🤣
Jarod Dawson 😂
REALLY? no ways! It's enchanting. There must be something magnetic about them... :-D
I'm from algeria and is true af.
Buffalo, NY... My Grandma got them too.
The way she makes him buy her a generator and install cable. Smooth grandma, smooth.
That his is grandmother’s way of life. And she does not want it to be changed with modern and material things. Respect is due❤❤
This never gets old to watch. I miss my grandmas 😢
Trevor: I was good looking... Grandma: Like hell.😂😂😂😂😂
With a grandma that badass it's no wonder Trevor and his mom turned out as great as they did.
“Those big bumps... THEY KNOW MY SLIPPER” GOD DAMN IT GOGO 😂😂😂😂😂😂
That is love!
IKR!!! ADORABLE
Hahahahaha I love it! Then she even gave an example of how she whooped him! Lol so dern cute
Her name is Koko, but Gogo means grandma
@@kimmyawesomeness4184 Gogo Koko. Love! :)
Ahhh ur Grandma is adorable and a hero. Anyone who could survive the horrors that were apartied and raise a woman like your mother who obviously raged against the machine(especially since your existence was a crime) is an amazing woman I would like to meet.
I love your relationship with your grandmother. All my grandparents were deceased before my birth. There were photographs of my maternal grandparents. I adopted two grandparents so I could have that experience. That kind of love was important to me. Such an important relationship to have.
Now we know where you got your sense of humor! Koko is absolutely adorable...
"Those big bums... They know my slippers!"
Spelt *Gogo
She's so funny :D :D :D
