- Stay with me now… the midsize Lincoln #Nautilus SUV arrived for 2019 as essentially a name change for the Ford Edge-based MKX, which was in its second generation. It then quickly got a big update for 2021, taking on a whole new styling theme. And now, for 2024, the second generation of the actual Nautilus is setting sail. So, let’s see if it will be a big boom in sales for #Lincoln. #LincolnNautilus

One of the best looking SUV’s on the road today in my opinion
NOT
The Nautilus is my favorite Lincoln vehicle out of all the Lincoln SUVs they have, i love those cool looking door handles that the Continental sedan use to have.
How 'bout a 4-door sedan version, Lincoln Motor Company? And manufacture them in the USA! 🖖
They tried that; they don't sell. I love my G70 3.3T sedan, but I've never been an SUV guy. I wish they'd keep making sedans, but alas, they're becoming unique.
@@titaniumspecial4207 panther platform wouldnt conform to new crash standards without a major redo, they tried Town Car on the MKT. most people in the US dont like cars. Id drive this and I hate SUV/CUVs.. but Ill stick with my Mark V and Mark VII.
The do have a Lincoln Zephyr but it's only sold in China...
@@yejoonyang9552 Thank you. Yes, I know and that makes it even more maddening. Lincoln/Ford has made an unfortunate marketing/sales mistake, IMHO. The Japanese and German manufacturers are filling the void...for now.
They had one called the Lincoln Continential made from 2017 to 2020. How many did you buy?
Uh, those aren't exhausts in the bumper. They're fake chrome surrounds.
I was wondering if they were real 🤔
motorweek needs a stick of truth
Lost me at “will be assembled in China.”
You took the words right out of my mouth . . .
agreed
another one for the shareholders
I don’t understand why it needs to be either. Because atleast in the case of the Buick Envision, Buick does sell more cars in China and the Envision is especially popular there. But from what I can tell that’s not the case with Lincoln and actually Lincoln is struggling in China. Somebody correct me if I am wrong.
Everything you probably own is made in China so what’s the problem?
Exterior looks nice. Just don't like it being made in china. 🙄
UAW workers want $100k per year to assemble it
We can have this but we get a ticket if we glance at our phone while driving. Makes PERFECT sense. lol
Huge difference between having driving information displayed versus reading texts and surfing the web.
@@johnsonaustinj Oh come on...🤣 I was semi joking, but fine. Let's play a little game.
It's called "Phone Or Infotainment"...which am I describing, phone or infotainment?: Touchscreen, provides navigation, plays music, shows your text messages and phone calls. Infotainment or phone?
You don't get a ticket for glancing at your phone. You get a ticket for holding your phone.
@@mercuryrising9390 How tf does it make any sense to ban HOLDING something while driving? We can hold a drink, food, etc...holding it doesn't draw your attention away from the road, USING IT, just like you use infotainment, does.
Don't ask me I'm just stating that glancing isn't illegal, but holding it is. Contact your state government, they're the ones that made the law.
Hahahaha that screen! We've really been suckered in by the automotive industry into believing that huge screens are an important part of the driving experience. My screen is bigger than yours! 😂🤣
There is also a cost savings…for them. Ridiculous.
Screen is awesome. If you poor, just say you poor
Not usually a fan of Ford/Lincoln design, but they did a great job on this...inside and out.
Looks great but not for me. I hate cvts, assembled in China, and those "perfect position" seats are too narrow for my linebacker frame.
Ick. No thanks. Good luck with the China connection Ford.
Imagine when that giant screen goes out..
Screens have been in cars for a long time. How many times have you had an issue with it going out?
@@rustlesee I love the crowd that pops up every time new technology comes out to say that it will break. Electric headlamps were new, innovative and expensive technology when they were introduced. Seems to have worked out fine.
I've replaced no less than a dozen oem touchscreen radios that have failed in less than 10 years in customer cars. Some of these units will likely be no different, other than the obscene cost of replacement.
@@twotrackjack2260 Only a dozen in less than 10 years. Case in point, the risk of failure is negligible.
@glanzera I work on friends occasionally, I can only imagine what the real world failure rate is. When they cost at least $1,200 a piece, the owners hardly found it negligible. This Lincoln full dash unit will be way more expensive.
Nice Nautilus
Why would you need an IMAX screen in a car?
IMO, this is one great looking vehicle. However, it's overpriced especially for a 4-cylinder. At this price, I would rather go with something else from the competition or move up to the Aviator with their 6-cylinder. Lincoln needs to go reevaluate their prices especially for the Black Label.
Is this the Explorer chassis? 3:40 the engine look like it's transverse so I guess not.
the Aviator is
Based on the global C2 platform (escape, bronco sport, Mach-E, etc). Stretched/modified for use in this lincoln
This is the C2(Escape), but the CD6 platform is modular and can accommodate transverse layouts
Beautiful 😍
I have a 2020 Aviator Black Label. Gorgeous car and I love driving it (when it's not at the dealership for a warranty repair) - but quality is no better than the Range Rover it replaced. So disappointing. Hopefully the Nautilus is screwed together a bit better.
The interior, headlights, and taillights look like this will be a popular vehicle for DJs, rap artists, and those who like to put loud boomboxes in the rear cargo section.
What happened to the acceleration and handling tests?
They did this test away from their track
@@moejr1974Correct. This test was shot outside of Palm Springs, CA.
Whats the word on the ecvt transmission. Is it a dud?
They're typically regarded as more robust than traditional automatics or belt/cone driven CVTs as they have less moving parts.
100% tariff
i want a round steering wheel, is that too much to ask
The Black Label price increase is insane. You would think you’re getting a high output performance version for that kind of money. $76,000 for a Ford eco boost four cylinder is ridiculous.
1:10 Why did Corinth stop making leather?
Yeah, I kinda chucked when John Davis said 'fine corintian leather'. I'm guessing it was sourced from either Corinth, TX or Corinth, MS. Not the european one.
@@m6780 It was a joke.
It was a jab at Chrysler for their use of "Fine Corinthian Leather" to sell their Cordoba line back in the 70s and 80s
Moved to Napa.
@@kevinmoon4148 I hear Nappa is beautiful this time of year.
Gorgeous vehicle, but the Black Label price is rather breathtaking.
Whoa thats a lot of screen!
Looks good, but hopefully better reliability
Nice looking vehicle, interior…….but I can just see the faces of the potential buyers in all the Flyover states when they learn “ASSEMBLED IN CHINA”. 🤷🏼♂️😂🤷🏼♂️😂
Nice
Too bad Lincoln got rid of the Continenral instead of going further up-market with it.
How many did you buy when they made them from 2017 to 2020?
just know the door handles are different in different country from this video..my Nautilus has electric retractable door handles
Not the biggest fan of Ford but at least Lincoln is no longer just a Ford in a slightly nicer shirt. Not sure I would trust all that tech in a Ford but again, it looks pretty slick.
Must see in person' touch points and materials top notch, seat massage are very good, potential buyers should keep long-term reliability and driving experience in mind.
Feel the Base engine option needs at least 320hp.
I love Lincolns!
What a waste of sheet metal. Made in China, with a GIANT screen taking up what used to be the dashboard. I cant wait to see the repair bills when those fail. We just keep going backwards in design and function.
So the hybrid has exactly ONE extra mpg? Wow...he said sarcastically.
And 60 extra horsepower.
Hey Gordon you gotta learn to pay attention. 21 29 24 vs 30 31 30... That's 9 more mpg in the city, 2 more mpg on the hwy, and 6 more mpg combined. But i don't think they used the hybrid for more mpg so much as more hp but without lowering the mpg... Basically like the Infiniti q50 hybrid.
Not a fan of the big ass screen spanning the entire dash. The car looks amazing, but it’s made in China and it has an over the top dash layout.
So, even being made in China, the price is still way too much!!!!!
Those savings are for the shareholders. NOT you as the consumer.
It's really sad, I'm an active 29yr Ford Kentucky Truck Plant employee getting close to retirement, I'm was having a hard time deciding between a new Explorer or Lincoln Nautilus for my retirement vehicle, I love the new look, but sad to say the Nautilus lost, made in China lost my purchase.
Beautiful! for once and Finally. Now fix that damn ugly Nausiator (Navigator). PHEV Lincoln.. come on! I still miss the Town Car and COntinental.. and I still own wagons.. but even Id drive this. Nice to see you in Palm Springs and driving up 74 towards Idyllwild on Palms to Pines Parkway. Fun mountain road. AND my 2023 Corvette has a squared off wheel, at first I thought it was weird but turns out to feel really good and more natural.
Assembled in Gyna.
I dig the new look but not the single engine choice. I would have liked the model better with the option of the previous 2.7 turbo V6. Not sure why Ford would move their operations from Canada 🇨🇦 to China 🇨🇳 We'll see if these hope for cost savings proves worthy with quality. Hopefully they put that money into their products rather then their already deep pockets ✌🏽🇺🇲
Crazy how this was build off a shorten explore/ aviator platform. But what do we know
Do the autoworkers in Detroit 2:55 receive monies from these vehicles assembled in China ? What was the purpose of the strike?
How is Lincoln still around when Mercury, Pontiac and Oldsmobile are not?
Mercury Tracer 🤮 Pontiac Aztek 🤮 Oldsmobile Achieva 🤮
Mercury and Pontiac should still be around. Oldsmobile was becoming obsolete because Buick had the same market. Lincoln should be challenging BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Cadillac. Right now, it is more of a competitor to near luxury brands like Acura, Audi, and Buick.
If Made in China wasn’t bad enough… a CVT transmission coupled with a twinky-engine makes this all but desirable.
It’s almost like Ford is being told by the powers that be to make this doa?
At least the interior color is nice. Looks the part, but the top of the line model is vastly overpriced with a 4-cylinder.
Lincoln, let me help you with design.
Made in China, sorry you just alienated 90% of your customers.
Besides I noticed the gas tank fills in Florida to give 300 miles. If I fill the same gas tank in Georgia I get 400 miles. An this does not have to do with gas price. I think this is a manipulation through electronic devices that Lincoln makes to secure more profits for the Saudi King. I think a serious Buffet should find a great opportunity to sue them as the evidence of this malicious hacking could be in the millions.
5:54-5:58 that looked like going backwards 😂
Hard no on a chinese built import.
Only think I like about it is the song played during the commercial, no one can find out what it is. 🏖️
I wish they'd have really done an update. An E-CVT is hardly an update. They should have put the electric motor between the engine and an 8 speed automatic. Crappy Variable Timebombs are NOT my favorite.
I've loved Lincoln so I own 3 Nautilus at home, but Made In China is a game changer, I always looked in the manufacturers tag to check where it is assembled. If it is made anywhere in North America is acceptable at least jobs are kept here. Next time I will check the tag, if it is made in China, I will not buy it , it hurts my pride!. This is the proof China is buying us out, we got to stop them somehow, or create a differential taxing system. It is not fair for qualified American workers to get fired from the assembly line to get a job at the dollar tree.
Disappointing that Ford decided on a 4 cylinder turbo with a crummy CVT.
I don’t get why automakers are using (unreliable in the long term) turbo drivetrains.
My 2022 Nissan Frontier with a naturally aspirated V6 gets nearly as good gas mileage as the Nautilus. The Frontier has a 9 speed automatic…a real transmission.
I would NEVER spend $50K+ on a 4 pot turbo w CVT.
I have an Explorer with the 2.3 EcoBoost. It's a lot of fun stop light drag racing Durango RTs and beating them ....
No one can match the styling (inside and out) of Lincoln. That interior is beyond description, wow! 👍
Genesis is WAY better, Bozo
@@wallbangerzsportsfunny one 😂
Change the gearbox and engine.
If most accidents are caused by driver distractions, why are the automakers moving towards more and more screens. Ridiculous.
For a midsized Luxury SUV, there are two big misses. 1. Built in china. You have to be kidding me. 2. No turbo V6 option. Only 2.0 turbo 4 or hybrid. I will pass
I seriously wish the automotive industry would stop shoving big, gaudy, oversized, hard-riding wheels down our throats!
There's no Road Test with no 0-60 time!
This is the second one in a row that is missing acceleration and handling tests.
If it’s made in China there’s going to be a ev version.
All this screenage is useless if you can’t watch a movie. What’s the point of it all really?😂
$75K will get you into an MDX Type S…
Honda is inferior to Lincoln by a lot
@@spg5658 🤣yeah, ok, whatever you say…😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Acura is boring and stale.
Made in China and CVT. . Ugh. I don't mind China as long as the costa get saving to America customer but that is not happening . Such a let down.
Engines are no good they break after a month of use
In the front the Nautilus looks like a BMW X7
Shame it’s built in China and that steering wheel Is awful but other wise it’s a beautiful vehicle, I’m a Lincoln loyalist
Was actually impressed with everything, until the assembled in China comment. No thanks.
Why do they assemble this in China ? are you nuts?
Of course they are making them in China, that's where they sell them. Why ship 150k to China when you can just ship 50k to the U.S., Canada, and Mexico? It's why Toyota builds here. Mercedes, BMW ETC.
Why will it be assembled in China? I’m not comfortable with that.
Unions. You ask for a 100% raise, get 40, and what does everyone think will happen? No auto maker wants to sell a $100K midsize vehicle. They're going to sit on the lot, just like the EVs.
I’m not surprised. A Chinese Lincoln?
Ugh, you don’t think we get enough screen time?!? 🙄🤷♂️ I’ll pass.
Ill just keep my F350😂
I thought Ford put some of their cars together in Mexico
Side profile is a design ripoff from the Mazda CX-90. The Lincoln is built in China. The Mazda is built in Japan, and it's cheaper. Knowing all this why would anyone buy the Lincoln?
American car market is becoming more Indian.
Beautiful and far superior to anything from Europe or Japan!
Must be the new math, since this vehicle emits 3.3 tons more in CO2 than it consumes in barrels of oil. 🤔
Ecoboost engine will last about 65bk miles
Anti-car enthusiast vehicle. All screens/made in china/cvt or low power only and the gas mileage of a average minivan.
Too bad
Great styling. But a CVT (or only 250 hp pulling 4.500 lbs)...it's an overpriced Lexus or Acura.
Made in China.
Assembled in China??? WTF Lincoln.
CHINA??? OH HELL NAW LOL NOPE CANT DO IT
Sorry, but that dashboard is hideous
John davis > gods
Made in China 🇨🇳 hahaha
I would trust the Chinese workers who assembly this over the engineers who designed it. Expect numerous recalls and low resale value. Lease it, don't buy it!
Lost me at assembled in china and the low hp specs and hybrid technology. Wait till electric motor starts to act up. 🤷🏽♂️
Looks a lot like a Hyundai or KIA
As Scotty would say..... A rolling pile of junk!!
