I love the fact that 'Under Warranty' is written above the numbers at 6:06 on the SD70ACe unit. Glad to know NS still had warranty for that XP
i know it is kinda off topic but does anybody know a good place to watch newly released movies online?
@Ishaan Curtis Flixportal =)
@Preston Gary Thanks, I signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there =) I appreciate it !!
@Ishaan Curtis You are welcome :)
@@prestongary145 Sick spam bro lol.
She’s back! She was repaired and repainted and was spotted at the shops in Altoona, along with sister unit 4000. Word on the street is that 4000 will get cleaned up or maybe even completely repainted for an NS photoshoot.
RIP NS 4001 and 1036 But the two of then will be back
jesusbarnett 4001 just recently made its first new voyage, is 1036 being repaired too?
No? ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm well 1036 IS back in some days
The sound of 6743's Conrail RS3L is just incredible. Nice catches!
I ran that train on its final trip! I picked it up on a coal train in Enola and took it to Baltimore. The next night I took it back up but we only made it to Lace Mill just east of Columbia PA where we were recrewed do to running out of time thanks to Amtrak. The recrew took the train west and wrecked. I have the very last pictures of it before she wrecked when we got off at Lace Mill.
I can’t even believe ns 4001 Is back
1036 Warranty ran out as soon as it went on its side, Lucky enough it was repaired at NS Juniata Shops at Altoona & released to traffic again on March 2019, 4001 was also repaired at the same place & returned to the main line in early 2020, The guys at the Altoona Works did a superb job on both Loco's & nice to see they both survived.
Great footage. I'm glad the crew made it out with only minor injuries. Looking at the engineer's side especially, it's really a testament to how well these locomotives are built.
The Nomadic Railfan That and a testament to how lucky they are. Somebody was looking out for those two.

The Nomadic Railfan.
That’s good but does she still have the blue and white paint?
Kinda sad to see something that big and strong sitting silent and mangled. Prayers for the crew.
TrainTrackTrav the crew made it out with only minor injuries
Gives you a sense of your own insignificance and mortality really.
It seems sad to me.
Well at least we know its not going to rot in the dirt.
Gantry Odie hmm, just gotta ride it out :(
Fun fact! Just earlier today (Thursday 17th) it was seen running solo in Pennsylvania on a rail stream webcam!
We remember seeing 4001 alive and well back in December 2016 along I-10 in Arizona going west on a Intermodal run. Very saddened to see her on the ground back east not long after.
It's good to hear that the crew made it out alright and that they weren't seriously injured. Seeing this video, I wondered about 4001's fate. Through some quick research, I find that 4001 is currently at the Altoona shops being rebuilt, so this isn't the end of the line for 4001. Doing some more searching, I find that this locomotive isn't a newly built locomotive. It was originally NS #6509, an EMD SD50 built in 1984. It was repainted along with NS #4000 in 2015 as prototypes for Norfolk Southern's DC to AC conversion program.
Great video, I hate to see something so beautiful get damage.I hope the crew is ok,without major injuries, and I hope those beautiful locomotive can be restored. Thanks again for the great video my friend.
Those poor locomotives look as sad as beat up animals waiting for rescue.
I used to work on wrecks like this. Not as bad as it seems. The carbody around the engine can be removed pretty quickly as it is bolted down. You put a new one in like the ones they have on trailers in this video czcams.com/video/8z68_kK7iDo/video.html .Handrails are bolted on so those go back together pretty quick once you get new ones. The cab is going to suck. Someone will have to do a lot of fitting, grinding and welding for that one. 4 months should get the 4001 done.
Glad the crew was okay, minor injuries and all. The locos? Repairable I think. Expensive and will take a while, but do-able. The main frame still looks straight on both. Guess we'll have to wait and see. Thanks for the footage! Cheers, Dan
Juniata can fix anything they have been around for well over 100 years and their reputation is well earned. UP Jenks shop is another excellent one.
did a bunch of Norfolk southren Trains passed wrecked 4001 & 1036 on the storage track that was cool after altoona shop repairs.
plus a meet
I can not believe the clarity of this video. Nicely done.
Glad to hear the crew was okay. As for the locomotives, nothing that a little duct tape and bondo can't fix! LOL!
In all seriousness, as long as the frame (backbone) isn't twisted you can pretty much rebuild from the rails up. Everything including the diesel generator set is designed to be replaceable. I'm sure the Juanita shop gangs will be able to fix them both right up.
I once saw where a C&NW SD-40 had collided with a semi-truck loaded with gravel at around 45 mph. Cab crew bailed out of the back doors, the cab was crushed. The locomotive was back in service within 3 months. The truck ... not so much. They were still picking pieces of it out of the grass and trees a year later. The driver tried to beat the train and paid for his idiocy with his life.
LOL
1036 is repaired and in active service
@@railfangraham4182 good to hear
Have to go over by the Juniata shops and see if they are there, the engineer was from the Huntingdon, Pa, some of my friends know him
I could not imagine the feeling of standing next to the beast of a locomotive in such a sorry state like that. It really makes you feel bad for it.
I think the zoom in shot at 6:07 is funny! Under warranty is on the cab above the engine number. Wonder if EMD will honor it after it has been wrecked? Probably not! I hate to see such massive machines in this condition, but it is real life.
What for camera are you using? It has great quality. Absolutely no choppiness , no matter how fast the trains are going. Great videos, love them.
I like that blue nose and silver/gray NFS livery. First time I've ever seen that.
Mike Day it was part of a DC to AC special paint scheme. 4000 has the same colors
Would love to see and update on these two after they have been repaired and put back into service.
Amazing how you were able to get so up close and personal to shoot this footage. Are you a NS employee?
Glad to hear the crew was alright.
I like this video, thanks!
I agree prayers for the crew
it's always good to know that my fellow NS brothers are doing fine. i just hate that upper management is going to try and fault them for this. they'll find out it wasn't their fault. i just seen that unit a year and a half back...wow. for you railfannners, stay safe out there and respect the train.
dropped a crew off who was working the ballast train the day after. I was speechless.
I hope the AC44C6Ms get standard cabs too, they're too good to be rebuilt!
It truly is sad to se such beautiful engines so damaged. Glad the crew was fine, wish I could So the same for the locos :( I'm close to Pittsburgh, I'll have to keep my eyes opened for these 2 beauties to hopefully reappear.
Great video! May I use this for a video I’m making about the NS rebuilds? I’ll be talking about this wreck in it. I will credit you
Awesome video. What kind of camera do you have?
That crazy glad to see them alive I drive for csx n I been in a derailment before
I'm surprised the engineer lived his side is all mangled up
That's what I thought...
lovely stuff
Can't believe this happened to one of my most favorite engines.....
What was the final prognosis on these engines Sir ?
Wow cool stuff
Im glad thr crew is ok. Those Locomotives will be repaired and back running the rails like new again. They probably are by now.
1:39 kerry is like “I wish I could be repaired and put back into service” ES44 #8146 slips kerry a get well soon card as he passes
slenderman7676 Rblx this is South Park reference OH MY GOD THEY KILLED KERRY YOU BASTARDS
AMTRAKYESDORANO146VGCP Johnny That is actually Kenny.
Glad no one was killed or seriously injured. What was the outcome on these 2 engines?
Here is an update from Altoona Works on facebook with NS 1036: facebook.com/altoonaworks/posts/10161664911220637 and a photo of the cab from NS 4001: facebook.com/altoonaworks/posts/10160392954985637
What type of camera do you have? Its absolutely fantastic.
Any idea what the heat kink in the rail cost NS in damages to equipment etc and cleanup or was the cost assumed by the owner of the tracks?
Does anyone know what will happen to 4001? Has it been deemed a total loss? It's such a beautiful locomotive, I'd hate to seem them scrap it.
THE MACHINES CAN BE REPLACED BUT HUMAN LIVES CAN NOT BE, PRAYERS FOR THE CREW AND THEIR FAMILIES,THANKS FOR SHARING THIS VIDEO.
Fortunately, the crew made it out with only minor injuries.
shariys1 Thats good to know thanks.
Dexter Greene caps
Nice videos! Thank you. Cause of the derailment?
(Alwayshow trains enteringrade crossings in case someone is hit.)
Main thing is no one got hurt it sad that such beautiful works of arts got damaged so bad as a kid where I used too live we had a rail road tracks near our house and a little red train called the swamp rabbit train every time I would hear is horn blow I would run out the door just too see that little train come by now it is a bicycle trail called the swamp rabbit trail but at heart I still love trains and always will I am just a over grown kid I guess
Thats a sad picture. It makes you want to take it home and restore it.
Well i hope 4001 goes back into service
It is, it was repaired and back in service
It is a sad view but I think they can be repaired. A lot of traffic there. I liked the halogen lamp dangling!
sad to see 4001 in a wrecked state. ive seen that diesel and its sister 4000 go by the house a few times i rember them well because of the paint. being different and took pics
How long would it take to rebuild them and have them back up and running again?
Love watching 🚆 videos when I'm off or just relaxing i get comfortable and enjoy myself DILLY-DILLY 🚆 all aboard
Nice filming, what kind of camera do you use?
Dude! That's the same train I saw except it was carrying tanker cars!
Wow pretty intense damage.
awesome vid
How did it get wrecked and wasnt this a cab replacement engine anyways
It would be cool to have one of the 4001 number plates.
Can they repair them or do they scrap them
Were the locomotives repaired? Pictures?
Did A bunch Of Norfolk Southern Trains Passed Norfolk Southern 4001/1036 After the Derailment and Altoona Repairs
This is heartbreaking
Are those engines still there?
sweet catches. oh man i wonder what going to happen to #4001. i'm hoping they rebuild her back to her beauty. hopefully the drew is ok. awesome lashup's.
Phillip Lee the crew made it out with minor injuries
ah ok. thank you. i was wondering about that.
4001, is this a new design of NS? And will 4001 be repaired?
nice videos❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
RIP 1036 AND 4001
The SD70ACe is practically new yet, just a good concert, maybe it must have affected the engine so they abandoned them
she once roared down the tracks, now she sits here in silence
Is it going to be repaired?
Nice video
Give us an update when it's repaired
RIP Kerry (ROHV)
R.I.P. NS #4001 😥😥
4001 is back on the line. It was repaired and looks new.
Thats crazy glad crew ok, still sad seeing an amazing locomotive off rails and beat up like that, anyone who tries to beat a train definitely deserves a permanent dirt nap
What happened to them???
I bet if you sent the engine to Cuba. They would fix it up and have it running again. I saw on PBS show they had an old Southern Pacific engine that they bought. It was going to be scrapped. Cuba rail road company bought it and fixed it up.
What about csxt 3099 the wreck was way worse than this one
It's sad that you see trains pass this train and the crew involved in the derailment
It's at in Altoona for a while but it looks like they're doing something to it it's tore down to the almost a frame setting by the paint shop
Why is Dexter yelling at us? Great footage Super Trains, and glad the crew is ok. Being the 4001 is a new AC conversion (big investment) and given the frame is as straight as it looks, she will be back but I would guess as a Standard Black Horse.
I wanted it's paint the way it was!!!!! I guess that blue paint is very expensive
What camera do you use
Did they rebuild the locomotive
is it a write off or spare parts?
Rest in peace ....
Let’s hope when it got repaired it was painted with the same blue paint that’s probably the only train to have a blue paint scheme for the north folk southern
*Conrail heritage unit intensifies*
Nope no 4000 is it's twin but they are the only 2
Can the train still be used
Was the engineer or conductor hurt?
Every body is passing speedily and poor derailed 4001 seeing all the frieght trains.
I think it's sad because I believe it wasn't around that long in this paint scheme
Damnn they is some troopaz
They took a beating yet still standing in their own wheels!!
Without scrolling through all 300 comments, may I ask what happened?
Das war aber eine harte Flankenfahrt, bestimmt an einer Weiche.
But that was a hard flank ride, certainly at a switch.
Wow. I shocked by how well they fixed it up. Amtrak would send that to the scrapper if it was one of their locomotives.
How soon will this big boy be back to work?
What happened to the train
Reminds me of two face from bat man one side is nice looking the other is badly damaged
where is this at
