Built on the extraordinarily successful and well-loved R107 chassis, the Mercedes-Benz 560SL further improved upon the technological developments of the earlier SL-Klasse with a more powerful engine and increasingly modern safety features. It was powered by a 5.6L version of the M117 V8 engine, with a single overhead cam for each cylinder bank and Bosch Jetronic fuel injection. The 560SL was marketed and developed as a high-end personal luxury roadster and, as such, earned a reputation of significant prestige. The SL class had remarkable build quality, comfortable yet sporty road manners, a large V8 engine, and all of the modern options one would expect from a European luxury car. Combined with the reliability of a Mercedes V8, the 560SL was truly ahead of the competition and became an overwhelming success in the American market.
This 1989 Mercedes-Benz 560SL is finished in its original Black Pearl Metallic over an elegant grey leather interior.
