I think the true competitor of the iPad 2020 is the tab S6 lite, and it's a much better value for the money especially that the S-Pen comes in the box for free.

Got the A7 for $138 as a BF/Cyber Monday deal. Right now you can get it at Sam's Club for $150. The iPad isn't touching those prices. I really like the A7 for what I bought it for, as a TV screen for iFit and watching some CZcams or Disney+.
Fantastic review! I was looking for an entertainment tablet for my mother-in-law and at first thought the iPad is the king. But for pure video and music consumption on a budget, the Samsung kills it! Videos on an the iPad next to it look like watching them on a photo frame with that aspect ratio and bezels!
I really like the way you review products. I own a variety of brands and your reviews seem to be spot on, on the advantages and disadvantages of the different brands. In my experience it becomes more of a user preference. Once you become used to Apple you tend to stick to the Apple experience and once you become used to the Android you tend to stick to the Android experience. If I want to have a more options I use Android. If I want to use something that just works and feels more locked down I use Apple.
I’ve been an Apple user since the first iPhone but I recently went with the S7 FE over the iPad (which is a more fair conparison). In this comparison, regardless of what ecosystem you are entrenched in the iPad will be the better choice. SD 662 is not powerful enough to decode Netflix and play back the content smoothly, which in my opinion if a processor can’t handle that than what’s the point of the tablet even? Maybe if you want secondary gaming accounts or to browse the web.
In Brazil, Ipad cost 3x more than a7. A7 is 1300 brl, s6 lite 4g 2000 brl and Ipad 8 3500 brl. 1 usd = 5,4 brl

Tab a7 comes at half price of what apple charging for ipad, so a7 is what i will be going on with.
In your region this may be the case but in the US the A7 is only $70 cheaper.
In my region(India), cheapest iPad 8th generation cost Rs.29,900 (405.69$ USD) whereas Samsung A7 costs Rs.16,000 (217.09$ USD), since its a 188$ Gap between the two and for college use, which is basically Online Lecture, reading Pdfs and movies with friends, its easily the better choice between the two..
Same in Germany, I just got A7 for 165€ while the ipad is 320€. The biggest drawback of ipad is the 32gb that are not extendable

Ipads have higher processing power. Never settle for android tabs that run on mobile OS. Ipad has its own OS.
@@Tutelage810 of course you can get 128gb, but then the comparison makes no sense. Even at both 32GB the ipad is double the price. At 128gb ipad 8 costs three times more. Everybody must research what their usecase is and which tablet fits the best for that. For example I know I need a tablet for my mom. She will play solitaire on it, watch youtube and view pictures, so 32GB is not enough, but shes does not need a high power tablet. A7 is perfect for this, since it has micro sd support for pictures and the processor is enough for easy tasks. On the other way, a student would like to take notes and write on pdfs, so iPad is a much better choice. I personally don’t need any tablet, I am happy with iphone 12 pro max and a notebook.

But Android for kids is not wise. Remember the photo stealing apps that plagued Androids. Malware is an issue with Android

i have Samsung budget tablet from 2016. Still getting updates as of yesterday. It is security patches for Android 8.1 but still all apps works and tablet is still snappy. I must say that if have to buy new tablet now i would go for iPad or higher end samsung because those cheaper ones while grate for content consumption are not very good for doing any serious work with.

The A7 seems to just have the better display and speakers, making it better for watching videos or listening to music, which is the main use for a tablet imo.

In Brazil the Ipad8 32gb costs 3100 and the Tab A7 64gb costs 1200. Apple Pencil costs 1000. The local minimum wage is 1045.

Damn, when the differences in prices in the US is $150 vs $300/380 for the 32Gb A7 and 32/128Gb iPad, respectively, the prices where I reside are hella different. After conversion, it’s $205 and $435/590, which makes the iPad hella non-budget, they are not even in the same price bracket, even w/o mentioning the price/avg wage ratio as in the US :(

When you say it's just $100 more expensive you make it sound like it's not much, When in fact it's 50% more expensive than the Samsung. So, given that fact it should be faster, and better, which of course it is. It's not really a fair comparison. That being said. I've just ordered the A7. The ability to stick up to 1TB extra storage makes so much sense. Mine will hold all my music, and a shed load of films and series for those times I'm travelling and don't have wifi. I already have the 2016 Galaxy Tab A and that's still going strong after daily use.
The 2020 iPad is $299 right now so now it’s a $70 difference. It’s definitely a fair comparison because these are entry level tablets from both companies. A $70 difference is not much when it comes to purchasing a product for long term use.

I bought this,but there is an issue and is present in replaced units as well,could you please check yours ? To replicate the issue perform following steps: 1. Turn brightness high, get in a dark room 2.Turn on bluelight filter 4.Turn on dark mode 3.go to settings, tap on search symbol, keyboard will appear, hide it(close keyboard only) ,now whole screen should be blank with just search bar at top 4. Now keep looking carefully ,my whole screen flickers, does yours?

@@OT4Tech thanks!! I think the a7 should handle game streaming well too though tbh I'm not a fan of game streaming at all. Dedicated hardware will always be miles better than streaming because of lag alone. It's unavoidable
Doom Eternal for example (since you showed it and because I'm a giant fan of it). Despite being half the frame rate on the Nintendo switch, it still is much better to play and more responsive than x cloud or stadia. And you need that responsiveness for a game like doom eternal, trust me (I'm on my 8th play through, all have been on nightmare difficulty) let alone any racing games where consistent responsive control is even more important

Ive had the A7 for a good while now and the only issue i found is when i play Cod mobile or scrolling somewhere on occasion the screen will jump a little bit when im pressing a bit hard but only on occasion

The cords hanging off on the edge after 6:08 are really cringe. I know you are trying to be optically pleasing in your presentations as everyone is, but that puts sooo much stress on the ports and can cause irreparable damage. Display and speakers would be a big upgrade. Battery life should be better as well. Performance will be a slight bump up as well.

basically youre getting more or less what you're paying, exept if you live outside of the us where the ipad can cost like 3x the price of the A7 and it just doesnt make sense at that price. to be honest the ipad is probably better if you want something to work on for school or university and the samsung is mostly a content comsuption tablet and is better for that. but just for that price (in some places) is hard to consider the ipad when youre on a budget.
in my opinion the real competitor of the ipad is the s6 lite but even compared to it. the price of the ipad is way higher than it and the s6 lite comes with the pen not like the ipad in which you have to pay 100 extra for the pen.

They both should have apps for that. If you need to check with the app developer, check with them before you buy. If you're not talking about apps and are talking about reading on the web, they both should. As for PDFs, I would know that Samsung does from experience with the Tab S6 and Tab S7 (which use the same software as the Tab A7).
You should go for A7 as android version supports all softwares as compared to ios,also screen is also big of A7
Honestly, I think both are good. If samsung made the storage higher for the tab a7, I’d go for it but I guess I’ll stick with ipad because it has more storage compared to the a7.

@@Leov300 the one regarding the iPad is a really long long story that involves my grandfather and his ID Apple, super short: apple was not able to help us and in the end the ipad turned out to be unusable and they suggested us to buy a new one.
Then one of my close friends had porblems with his new (2017) 3000$ macbook pro. Examples: sometimes it was SLOW (like really slow), wifi was going on and off, connection through thunderbolt ports were unstable and was a challenge to transfer data from external drives, also happend that file got ourrupted. Apple said that they could not find any problem with it and so he never received a replacement.
My iphone SE started having problems with the touchscreen after 2y, at the same time it started going crazy at random times, like blocking by itself, opening or closing apps, calling random contacts, turning on and off (and no, I did not drop it in water or anything like that)

If I'm a dude who wants to buy a budget tablet, it's given that I need to curb evry premium service out there without actually paying. On android, I can use Vanced youtube for no ads and background playing, download torrents to watch movies. All these are the main things that we do on a tablet.....even thou I agree Apple does everything else better, I can't choose iPad at a budget category

Even a 2015 iPad mini has smoother transitions and scrolling than the Galaxy Tab A7. And like most non-flagship Samsung devices, it’ll probably stop getting android updates after 2 years.

Guys i m goin to buy my first ipad ever. Infact it will be my first apple product ever. I want it for general use, note taking (i will get the pencil), online lectures a little bit of photo editing, social media stuff and streaming. Tab A7 all the way. 32gb unexpandable base storage in iPad is just unjustifiable. Plus all models sold in my country for the A7 is LTE capable with the cost still lower than base iPad.
if you are a entrepreneur or professional worker, choose a7, i am computer and electronic engineer and i think apple market (appstore) is so limited, even sooo much limited. Maybe you can use phone only phone but if you need creativity, playstore and apk support is mean many things. You even download apk you want which not listed on market anymore. In apple side, applications are limited, you may find couple of design programs but in android side, there will be many of them. android has esp wifi recognization and nfc like abilities but apple can't do these. If you want many and many entrepreneurship stuff, you need android, but if you don't need that much programs and already have several apple products, you should continue with apple. because your apple devices won't support android. Android is a pc like, for instance you can find any type screen mirroring app for using second screen. in apple side, you need newer mac and ipad pro combination. So, it's like pc versus mac.

Yes. Im writing this reply from my tab a7 which I got on my bday and yes it is possible steps ---> first open settings, search user, click the option which says users then u will see accounts and users. Accounts use accounts like Gmail.com or outlook.com and stuff. user doesn't use email it uses a profile
Ipad is superior because it's more about what's on the inside than outside, in this case. Budget Tablets always lag no matter what, I have yet to have any lag on my Iphone or any Ipad I've used. They have a premium chipset, that I've never seen be beaten. BUT they also have the worst wireless I've ever used and the battery life is seriously NOT what they boast here. In Samsungs favor their speakers are MUCH better, and oddly enough my Iphone 8 speakers are louder than any Ipad I've heard. ;o)
