From the video, a viewer might deduce that the only thing to do in Portland is eat in trendy restaurants.
frisco21 yup, pretty much all there is to do
For real. Its only a great place if you are wealthy, white, and attractive. I went with a group of friends after school to one of these trendy bars and was so out of place in my jeans and Old Navy top, chubby brown woman.. Super awkward.
@@heatherkaye8653 yah no oceans, mountains, rivers, theatres, sporting events..nothing to do.:)
@@gamerlady1860 Dont blame Portland because you wear old navy logo shirts......
@@obijuankenobi6565 😂😂
hahaha! that chocolate hair piece!
that's hilarious
I have live in Portland my whole life never heard of one of those places 😂😂
Sam Johnson same
Sam Johnson same 😂
Same.
Hahahaha
Being ignorant isn't something to be proud of. Maybe you should get out of your section 8 apartment now and again?
It's a great place to live...but please realize, it's this sunny for like 2-3 months a year...it is super overcast and different levels of rain most of the year, which is awesome for people like me. And if you want to move here...PLEASE don't do it without having a job first. Can't stress this enough
+tytheguy999 hell ya boii I trained with there U23!😊👍👌👌👍
Don't forget the riots and the lack of diversity of thought. If you are not a socialist, they will bully you like a pack of jackals.
You're right. I was thinking about moving to Oregon, but if it rains to much, it's not worth it. I'm a cyclist so I would hate to deal with that.
BaconCrispyPDX I disagree. It’s usually partly cloudy. We get enough sun and it doesn’t rain as often as you must feel it does. When it does rain, it rains a lot, though
Right on information and good advice.
good thing they didn't mention voodoo donuts. For anyone visiting our city, voodoo is a waste of time. Mediocre donuts after an hour of waiting in line. Guys, it is literally pieces of cereal on a donut. Waste of time. Go to salt and straw or one of the many hip little restaurants after a tiring hike in the gorge: that is a good day. Trust me, I've done that more times than I can remember. It never gets old.
O
Truth. I literally only go to voodoo too at like 11pm in the middle of the week because there is like no line. And even then I only go like once a year because their donuts aren’t that great.
PDX503 salt and straw is 👌
Ruby jewel is better than salt and straw. We all know it.
Blue star for life
Gentrified Portland at it's yuppiest!
That's what most dont realize, I'm a native, it is sad
Hipsters the new yuppies.
Coming from the Bay Area.....even the Portaland locals remind me of yuppies.
I originally lived in a small town in Oregon and it was incredibly stifling by its small minded values and no tolerance for being different. Then I visited Portland and it was the most freedom I felt in being myself. I'm hoping that one day, I will live there and can thrive off of my individuality
Which town I think I live there.
+Ethan “2buddy97” V La Grande
+Kyra Halls oh, I know where that is. but its not the one I'm thinking of. still cool though.
Where were you thinking

I'm from Australia. One of the the 5 top places I would choose to live in America is Portland, Oregon. Beautiful!
sure
Wow the place looks amazing! We drove straight through Oregon at the end of our "lads road trip" and didn't get to see it. It's high on my list of to-dos now!
I live in Miami,FL and I can't think of a more different place than Portland. I really want to visit!
+Miguel A Villar I used to live in Ft. Lauderdale (AKA 9th gate of hell on Earth).
Currently been in WPB for going on two years. South Florida is one of the most fake-people-filled places I've ever experienced.
Portland is so vibrant and magical. I'm a native Oregonian but have only lived here in The Rose City for the last year and a half and I can't imagine living anywhere else now. I love how free I am to express myself and I seem to make a new friend anytime I leave my apartment. Absolutely wonderful city. :)
still feel the same way ?
I love love love living in Portland ahhhh 💕
Funny thay don't show u the homeless camps
Kohn Jelly well, there isn’t a lot of camps. Although there are some
Ridogmusic HAHA what Portland have you been looking at? 😂😂😂
Ridogmusic lol there’s a lot of homeless camps in Portland
Kohn Jelly THEYRE really bad, I agree, but it’s just the consequence of living in a city known for weed and other drug abuse
Ridogmusic dude there’s a ton
I had a tough time in Portland when I went last year. It reminds me of San Francisco.
I have lived in the portland, oregon area for almost 49 years now and i havent been to any of these places. As someone who is born and raised around portland oegon this video is A SHAM.
KineticUncertainty you’ve loved here for 49 years and you’re staying inside playing video games and posting them on CZcams. That sounds pretty shameful to me
Portland was amazing. I'll be making my way back soon.
Man bun Capital of the world.
What a great video! Thank you for sharing!
Home Sweet Home Portland!! I love home sm!!
Portland is hipster land. On every corner there is a vegan startup coffee shop infested with bearded men wearing beanies working on their macbook's. Don't get me started on the reclaimed wood 😂
Brandon Key I’d actually love to visit one of those I don’t actually see a ton of them, I feel like that’s a stereotype
I wish!! Loved the city, but Portland had a disappointing amount of cafes.
@@anastasiasiamour2609 Because of the Violence etc People are closing shop.
The dream of the 90s is alive in portland....
Ahh you're a portlandia fan i see
Not really.
Portland was wonderful in the 90's......,But that time has passed, and Portland sucks now.
Its not...Portland is nothing like it was in the 90s.
Where young people come to retire
lived in a few places around PDX/pnw from the 80s to mid 90s...if i didn't have grandkids/family elsewhere..i'd be back in flash..best place i ever lived
you had me at weirdos!
We went in June. Had a blast. Thanks for sharing!
I remember playing in the fountains when I was little during the summer
In just last 3 years Portland traffic, homelessness, and housing prices have become acute problems. The fancy-free attitude of this video is counter to much of the feeling in the City now.
Portland is wonderful - but it faces forces that threaten to overwhelm it. There are not enough roads, beds, or homes for average people. The rate of change is stunning.
If you move here with money, please bring a sense of responsibility and help us. If you move here poor - God help you.
I live not too far away from Portland (Hood River Valley) and I think that, among great culinary experiences in Stumptown, Stepping Stone Cafe deserves a mention!
FYI If you are visiting Lang Baan make sure to reserve your table 2 weeks ahead, small place crazy popularity impossible to walk in. Also Screen Door has great buttermilk fried chicken but they are usually pretty busy too. Around 1 to 2 hours wait for dinner.
Stop moving to PDX & stay where you are, people.
Mister Sarajevo x2... if u thinkin of moving. theres no room for u to live or drive here, we will hate u, dont move here just visit and go home!!!
Gill Mccuddy
With the unusually intense winter weather lately, maybe the folks from the Midwest & SoCal are packing their bags & giving their 30 day notice on their lease .
Gill Mccuddy
Yea after visiting Portland I realized the people in Portland are unfriendly assholes lol. I wouldn't recommend moving their either
It's true! As a California native living in Portland for 3 years, I can vouch that everyone raves about the kindness of the people here. I imagine it's about the same as any liberal metropolitan area though, except this one is full of natives who will judge you based on where you are born, and actually treat you different because of it. Is this not a form of (albeit minor) racism in itself? Did all of you natives choose where you were born? I really don't get the hate. We took your jobs and drove up your rent? Come on. Maybe just build a wall around the city? This is in the same racism spectrum as Trump vs the Mexicans, no?
bapos23
Then move back if you're so fragile.
I ❤️Portland ! I drove 12 hours to be there a course one of weeks ago and plan on going back again in June!
I went to that restaurant for breakfast it was amazing !
The first restaurant was so good I’d most definitely go back again !
Thank you ....for Keeping Portland Weird.......
Dream of the 90's is alive in Portland!!! Ps, I'm glad they glossed over Voodoo Doughnuts! There's way more places than just voodoo doughnuts. I like voodoo doughnuts of course, but there's so much more
Wow - I lived in Portland from 2001-2014 and none of the businesses noted in this segment existed until afterward. I always consider PDX to be the "great incubator" for ideas, creative, small businesses and advanced urban planning - I hope some of these last so when I next visit I can stop in!
i live in portland, Oregon and i think its boring here. but seeing this video makes me feel better about where i live.
GALAXYGAMER yo ikr it’s so boring.
I was there last summer. Its a great city!
lovethisvid
So awesome!
I might visit ;), from Houston , Tx
I'm a native Portlander and we have a really high rate of depression here due in part to the weather. It's cloudy, gray and rainy most of the year. Just keep that in mind if you are susceptible to depression.
I lived here since 98 and still am. I love the geography of the PNW. It is growing and with the good things comes the bad things like increase in rent, traffic, tweakers and homeless camps. A very diverse race and cultures. Lots of bars/strip, hippies, a variety of stores/restaurants and marijuana dispensaries.
S/o us Portland natives knowing all the bs they didn’t say
Can you elaborate ? I plan on traveling to Portland soon so I just want to be prepared !
Portland is lovely
I Liv in Portland it's probably one of the best city's ever I moved from Brisbane Australia
*pulls chocolate hair off of head*
Yep, definitely visiting that place!
lol
Portland is very nice place to living and travel
That's 5 minutes of my life I'll never get back.
I love Portland, I love the ducks, I love pips, I love voodoo, I love Oregon.
I've lived in Portland since I was 1 and while things are far from perfect I love my city and I'm not considering moving
I might be visiting Portland soon greetings from Las Vegas.
Some people love it, some hate it. Just don't move there
That dude with a chocolate wig was something else😂😂😂
I'm defiantly visiting soon
used to live there for most of my childhood but had to leave like 3yrs ago cuz too many ppl decided to move there 🙄
nice to meet you city...very good city...ok...
I wanna move to either Portland or Seattle!!
As a Portland resident, I can say I’ve done all of these.
really want to visit from scotland
FYI to everyone looking to move to Portland:
-The job market is terrible.
-The renting/housing prices are terrible and getting worse.
-The people here preach open-mindedness, but a lot of them are part of insufferable cliques who don't want anything to do with you.
Visit here. If you love it, sure, move. Just give it a second thought if you don't.
Also, I'm disappointed that the video ignored one of the best things about Portland: The fact that it has the most strip clubs per capita. What, no expose about Sassy's?
+Joversi1 Bingo, give that youtuber a cigar! Plus; the Hispanics have overrun Hillsboro, Cornelius & Forest Grove to the West...
+Brian Patronie ...Wait, I'm confused. What's wrong with Hispanics?
They`re mostly here illegally, are poor and drive down property values for starters.
Ah. I see. If only more wealthy white people would move out to Hillsboro, yes?
+Joversi1 For which fields are the job market terrible? I'm an engineer hoping I can find a good job and move out there!
Pip and bounce is also cool.
Portlandia liveth!!!!
Definitely love it here, but enjoy the bigger city feel of Seattle. Wait to move here in 15 years if you want a big city feel. Portland still feels like a big town.
My advice to anyone coming here, 1 go the the east side, 2 go to Reel M Inn get the fried chicken 3 drink a PBR with said chicken.
Your welcome
I wish someone would do a virtual tour of all the bike shops here. That's 95% of the reason I want to move there. The bike culture. Although they could learn a thing or two from the Netherlands. Like bicycle parking garages.
I live in Columbus. Everyone says it's the new Portland, but I still would like to go to Portland
I liked it.
Dang! I need to visit
I live in Portland and didn’t know about most of these places haha
If everyone was a little more like Portland, the world would be a better place!
Ja Red false
used to live there and moving back soon
portland does have some of the best food,it's an experience to eat there.
PDX food carts are steal though.
zero 0000
Ever been to Brunch Box? They have the best burgers!
Proud to live in Portland
can see why
Same here :D
Carly Martinez same
same here, born and raised here
To all you guys what do you think about all the downers who are like "DONT MONT TO PORTLAND" in the comments. I wanna live about 15 or 20 minutes from portland in a couple years, it's kind of my goal. Why are people saying not to move there?
The Mecca of Hipsters where all of them look the same
I am a big fan of chai.. i am sold
I love it; the southern cross is a comforting sight, feel safe seeing it in every neighborhood.
I'm from the Portland area and it's honestly not that great. I'd recommend moving to Oregon because it's a beautiful state but Portland isn't very interesting.
Where’s that park bench where you can see downtown. I gotta go visit that
se ve que en portland la gente es muy amable
Dang they missed oaks park That's a great amusment park in portland 😂
Grimm was film in Portland
I want to visit to Portland one day...
It looks so lovely :)
Portland Oregon is amazing
+Emily hancock yes, thats because it is :)
It's a SUPER great place to burn a trash can!
But don't move here please!
looks are deceiving
I live in Portland and those were definitely some of the best places to go but there are way more places in Portland
Hipster heaven lol
I live really close to portland and it's really beautiful i recommend going if you live in Oregon
Are you in Beaverton or Multnomah?
Sarah Gill Close to Salem actually only 15 minute's away from the Salem witch you know is the capital.
***** but that's not anywhere near Portland?
Sarah Gill It's one hour away an hour isn't much for me .
What to do in Portland...
Leave and visit other fantastic places in Oregon
Don’t forget about homeless
Nic Barden Omgosh you Portlanders got no idea what having an actual homeless problem in your city is actually like, if you wanna see a city with a lot of homeless people go to LA or SF, Portland will feel like a first world heaven when you go or live in those cities.
My favorite city in the US.
Looks good. Im moving there soon from Scotland.
vanderbrock cool have fun from portland org
It's a lovely place to visit, but moving there just destroys it
Sadly, having lived in Portland since 1983, I've only been to Voodoo donuts once, never to Pip's or the Woodblock chocolate - I need to get out more. :p
God I can’t wait to move there one day
Everything you hear is true!!
I want all the food in this video
I just have to live there someday
Madeline Hutton too late . Am there!
getting stabbed by one of the many tweakers freely walking the streets, getting harassed by the homeless, or sitting in traffic for hours on end are some of my favorite things to do.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hmmm, I'm visiting for a month in July but will be spending time at the coast too. Your comments don't fill me with hope but the CBD availability might make it better.
looks legit...
wow i haven't been to any of these places
I have lived in Portland my hole life and done 1 of those things!
Because there is so many better things like all of our cultural gardens or our hikes.
If your looking for something to do in Portland ask a Local they will tell you what to do.
P.S GO TO VOODOO DONUTS!
Portland is the best city to skate in. I do it every day
I used to live down the street from that puppet museum. It is one of the creepiest things I’ve ever seen.
Why everbody bashing about Portland? I was there as a tourist from Switzerland and I found it beautiful, of course there were homeless, but you have that in Zurich too...
@Susanna Arambula You can see this all over the world: Berlin or New York for example.
However I really enjoyed the vibe I was getting for this week I stayed there.
