About Precise Book Reviews
I read a lot of books and hence decided to start a channel where I can review and discuss them with you all. I post videos every week and need your support and encouragement.

The Portuguese took my Indian ancestors from India to Portugal. I wish I could trace back to find out our Hindu surname. The Portuguese name we carried for centuries was “Rego” and it stayed with us til my grandmother married my papaw.
I’ve always felt a very strong familiarity with Indian culture. After being non-religious my entire life, I had a spiritual awakening. A little while later I discovered Sanatana Dharma confirmed every experience I had during meditation and every belief I’d held naturally since I was a child.
I’m bringing my children up Sanatani as well. I hope my ancestors are proud. 🙏🏻
It is so good to hear about you Amanda. Wish you all the best for your personal spiritual growth. Please support my channel to encourage me to make more such content.
The surname could have been Rege… i am guessing here… bcos that seems closest to Rego.
This really touches close to my heart. Thanks for bringing this book to my notice

Were to go get certificate
Our not get educated that time
Now we such our roots
Very nice description. I am living in Kochi, but I was brought up in such an atmosphere where my grandma and other elders would narrate the stories of our ancestors , about our Goan connection and they would sing konkani folk songs which carry the nostalgic feelings of Goan life.
My mother Smt Suseela Bhat being an active writer in Konkani, I have had the opportunity to read lot of Konkani books .
Konkani has got a script - it is Devanagari.
Please come up with similar videos which throw light upon our language, culture and parampara.
Thank you for the support.
The Saraswat Brahmins first came to Bengal when the river Saraswati dried up and lived there for many centuries before migrating from there to Konkan region in Goa , in today Bengal's Gauḍa is located at 24°52′N 88°08′E. It is now ribboned with the Bangladesh-India border, with most of its ruins on the Indian side and a few structures on the Bangladeshi side, it was once one of the most populous cities in the world. The ruins of this former city now straddle the international border and are divided between the Malda district of West Bengal and Chapai Nawabganj District of Rajshahi Division of Bangladesh. The Kotwali Gate, formerly part of the citadel, now marks the border checkpoint between the two countries. This region is still known as Gaud.
Gauda was one of the most prominent capitals in the history of Bengal and the history of the Indian subcontinent, and a centre of stately medieval architecture.
Gauda gradually became synonymous with Bengal and Bengalis, that is why the Saraswat Brahmins who migrated again from Bengal were called GAUD SARASWATS
Those who stayed back in Bengal are having mostly the titles of Dasgupta, Sengupta, Gupta, Das and Roy. They were known for their exceptional skills and knowledge in medical sciences that is why they were respected as' Baidya' meaning doctor. That is why their Gotra is Dhanwantari in Bengal.
They are still among the creme de la creme of the Bengali society's upper crust since then.
These people on their way to Bengal for the first time encountered snakes, crocodiles, tigers, rice and tribal people in the forests which were unknown in their holy land of Sapta-Sindhu, the most stunning encounter was with the Brahmins of Bengal who spoke in Sanskrit, they never expected this, that a Sanskrit speaking Brahmin people will be living in Bengal, they pondered, how these people acquired the knowledge of Sanskrit. There were more surprises; they found that the deities worshipped in Bengal were different; most notably they were not Vedic deities, they also found that 'Chandi' a Sanskrit text was followed instead of the Vedas, in Bengal thus the Vedic religion collided with the indigenous religion and that is how Sanatana Dharma became Hindu Dharma; which shaped up with Puja, Aarti and Archana of idols which were neither as per the Vedic rituals nor in obeisance to the Vedic deities. The Saraswat Brahmins gave up barley, fruits and milk and became rice and fish eaters in Bengal and took up the medical profession because the typical priestly class of Brahmins was already well entrenched in Bengal by then.
Obviously they were not liking their status and role in Bengal which further got jeopardised with the arrival of Kulin Brahmins from Kanya Kubja during the Gupta age, they migrated to other lands not only Konkan but also to Punjab and UP. Some Tyagis are Saraswat brahmins of Punjab and western UP who had lived in Bengal for many centuries before moving there although there are many Tyagis who are Bhoomihars in Rajasthan, Haryana also apart from their presence in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.
Most interesting part is that the there were more than twelve recensions of Saraswat migrations. Some Konkan Saraswat Brahmins who had migrated to Goa came back to Bengal and settled here permanently.
The Saraswat brahmins in Bengal played a very positive role in the society's Renaissance, Reformation and Enlightenment.
Thanks for giving the description of the book and bringing to our notice. Being a Gaud Saraswat, I am proud of our ancestors.

Half way through the book and stories the horrors the firangis inflicted upon our ancestors is painful to remember. Be always strong and united and never let it happen again to us.
Yes. United !
Mother Saraswati river dried out in 2,900 BCE. Sharda desh is another name of Kashmir. Sharda means Saraswati.
Anyone from karnataka
I am not a GSB/ Saraswat brahmin but i can understand what it feels like being a community which has to flee from its homeland to remain alive! Why do we Indians flee?? Why can't we fight??!! I have not seen any brahmin community fight except the peshwas(other all communities did not rule for a long time)! Being from Brahmin community i feel very week about that!!
Well said

I'm Saraswat Bramhin. My gotra is Kaushik

I am from gaud sati brahamin from Uttarakhand

A saraswat from West up
The 'Gawd' in Gawd Saraswat brahmin means that they are a subcategory of Pancha Gawda Brahmins not Bihar particularly.
Why no translations in Konkani when gsbs speak konkani
Very incorrect to say Konkani has no script. Devanagari is the script for Konkani. We the people of Goa and Maharashtra use Devanagari script for Konkani and Marathi as both languages closely related. Very surprising that the people who migrated to South Kanara promote Kannada scripts for Konkani.
Why why like Bania not like Brahmin with Konkani not Pali or sanskrut
Great to be hindu but un accepted by deshtas great to have changed within hindu to be a mercantile ppl
Own swami temple conservative to others but proud of Hinduism
Sir, the Saraswat Brahmins being Goud Brahmins (of the Pancha Gauda group of brahmins consisting of Kanyakubja,Saraswat,Maithil,Goud and Utkal brahmins as opposed to the Pancha Dravida brahmins of the South ,ate fish and this was not acceptable to them.
Their success in business doesnt mean they went into business because the Dravida brahmins did not accept them.In fact different sections of the Saraswat Brahmins went into different professions once the income from the Agrahara they were given became insufficient. The Shenais in Goa had a strong tradition of royal service and academics. The Bardeskars have a strong tradition of agriculture.Pednekars and Kudaldeshakars are of a martial orientation and the Sashtikars are into trade
