      @@FlyBoysWareHouse Why? Would you rather have stuck with Ron Hextall? You know, they guy who had no clear plan laid out and said "it's in my head," when asked by ownership? The guy that brought in players on bad contracts that did nothing but damage to the organization?
      Kyle Dubas came in with the task of trying to undo the damage Hextall had done. There wasn't a lot of room for him to work with, but he made off season moves like acquiring Erik Karlsson and getting rid of a lot of the bad contracts the Penguins were tied up in. On paper it was great, but it hasn't worked out, and a lot of that has to do with Mike Sullivan. You want someone to get fired? It should be coach Sullivan. The team doesn't respond to him anymore. Crosby has been the only player who has given a damn this entire season, everyone else is just out there but not showing up like they should. Does the Jake Guentzel trade sting? Yes. But with the likelihood that he would have gone on to free agency, the Penguins had to do something at the deadline to get something in return. The thing this team needs to do the most right now, is rebuild. Dubas should seriously consider moving on from Malkin and Letang especially, and starting from scratch. There's next to no scoring depth, no quality defense, and no response from the players to the coaching staff. The competitive window is gone.
      And at least give Dubas a freaking chance! He hasn't been with the organization for a year, and you're already calling for his firing?

    • @FlyBoysWareHouse
      @FlyBoysWareHouse Před 2 měsíci

      Thanks for detailed opinion, agree with majority. Its defo bigger picture and no not saying Hextall was better and yes they should move on from players such as Letang and Malkin and rebuilt. But unfortunately as for Dubas i dont see him as significantly better choice than Hextall purely based on how he (mis)managed Toronto and some of his calls for Pens such as getting Karlsson i personally dont think it was a good call. But hey he can have as much time as he gets and hopefully will be able to rebuilt this team. Obviously they won't fire him after 1 year, it was more of joke from desperation as overall results been really terrible.@@ceeinfiniti1389

      Haven’t you seen how brutal they’ve been playing. Advance stats show Malkin, Letang and Karlsson to be among the slowest players in the NHL. You can have one slower experienced player on a team and get away with it, but you just can’t play when you’re standing still or worse, falling down. Teams have figured out that they can beat Pittsburgh with speed. Letang and Malkin have been dreadful lately. Crosby has carried the team on his back but has given up the last three games after he learned that the brass were sellers this year instead of buyers. It’s tough when you finally realize the glory days are over.

    It's time for the Penguins to rebuild and move on from the big 3. The competitive window has firmly closed. What the Penguins should be doing right now, is experimenting with different player combinations, with some of the minor league players, and move on from Malkin and Letang in the off-season. Possibly Crosby too as much as that would sting. Get rid of Mike Sullivan and build a new coaching staff, then address the core issues plaguing the team, which are lack of scoring depth, and a lack of any solid defense. All Kyle Dubas has been able to do so far with the team, is undo as much damage as possible from Ron Hextall's disastrous stint as GM, and sell at the deadline when things weren't working out as expected to get some return on a quality player in Jake Guentzel that the team likely wouldn't have been able to afford re-signing in the off season.

      @@jsebby2284That's a fair point, Crosby hasn't played well either especially after Guentzel was traded.
      I just don't see the value in keeping all three of them anymore. The competitive window is closed and the team needs to rebuild, and I would rather see one or more of them be traded rather than watch them fade away for nothing. Plus there's the cap hit. The reason why Guentzel was traded was because the team would not have been able to afford him in the off-season.
      I know it's tough since Crosby, Malkin and Letang have done so much for the team, but the faster the Penguins move on, the faster the team enters it's next competitive window.

      @ceeinfiniti1389 I appreciate you saying that. I apologize if I came in hot - there's a lot of idiots and trolls out here and you can never be too sure. I see based on your comment you're a rational and level headed person - so I do apologize and I'll respond in kind.
      The main issue is that all three of them have NMCs. They can't be traded even if you wanted them to. The second part is that they aren't really the issue - they're all playing up to their contracts. It's just been terrible management and poor coaching that's killed them
      Regarding Guentzel - they absolutely could have afforded him. The contracts of the core didn't stop that.
      Sure it would obviously help the rebuild - but again those pesky NMCs

    9:31 Crosby wants a line change while Malkin is watching the puck and is completely oblivious. 9:33 Crosby finally screams and Malkin wakes up and jumps off the bench. Malkin is slow and fails to pick up a man and then the Sens score. If Malkin wasn't sleeping he could of been in the middle of the play and possibly stopped the goal. Malkin is a shell of what he used to be. Crosby hasn't lost a step but Malkin has literally lost 80%.
