I took my Father to see Stonehenge one time.
Our guide started to talk about it being the oldest and most important Neolithic monument in the world.
I questioned him, pointing out that it was built 500 years after the Great Pyramid and 1000 years after Newgrange in Ireland.
He would have none of it. What an idiot.

I'm confused. What exactly happens during a summer solstice?

Hi Natalie. The summer solstice is the longest day of the year on 21 June, when the northern hemisphere is tilted most directly towards the sun. Thousands gather at Stonehenge to welcome to sunrise of the longest day, which aligns with the stone circle arrangement. You can find out more here: goo.gl/b9Feg8
