BNSF Kaiser Yard Operations + Kaiser Steel Slab Train 12/30/2022

Today I went down to BNSF Kaiser Yard to check out the switching operations again. Being the only railyard on the San Gabriel/Pasadena Subdivision, it is responsible for sorting cars that go to industries along the length of the line, for the heavy industries in the Inland Empire, and further out in the San Gabriel Valley. I caught three trains here today, I first started out watching the Second Kaiser Roadswitcher build what would eventually become that day's outbound Kaiser Hauler. I then saw a late Kaiser Slab Train pulling in, loaded with steel slabs from Japan, that are being sent to the Kaiser Steel Mill (Now CSI), to be processed and rolled into various things like coils, pipes, I-Beams, etc. Then, once the crew of the 2nd Kaiser went to lunch, the Pasadena Roadswitcher took over switching the yard, where they also used large road motors to switch, as there were not enough crews for the 6th Kaiser to switch the yard that day like usual. Eventually after spending an hour or so with the Pasadena going back and forth I went home with a full length video. There were a couple sets of small yard locomotives there as well but they were not used today. The only real things they do these days are going west to Pomona and Irwindale on the Pasadena, go to March Field on the nighttime KAIJAC Local, or sometimes switch Muscat on the 6th at an unknown time.
