    Just wanted to compliment you on how thorough your comparisons are. With Jackson being such a reasonable price I was so curious about the quality, properties and layering. Also Magenta is one of my staples and I completely agree with your opinion and I would have been so disappointed to try it and see its closer to a quinn violet or a pv19 darker color. Thank you for making this video girl!

      You are so very welcome!! I’m glad you found it informative 😁. They are awesome paints but def look at the color chart and some swatches, the names and even some pigments (like alizarin crimson PR206) are misleading for sure!

    in the UK and Europe we use the BWS (blue wool system) for lightfast tests and in my research of Jacksons watercolour paint they have very good lightfast property's in most of the paints. TFS

    • @thehomegrownartist214
      @thehomegrownartist214  Před 5 lety +2

      Thank you for sharing. Yea I’m pretty sure based on the pigment info alone that their lightfast tests are pretty accurate and I would sell art with these paints for sure!

    Very nicely done, thanks for the video. I have to say, when you compare tubes with tubes, these are identical. Sennelier tubes are waaaaaay more punchy and intense than their pans. They are basically super intense and vibrant while their pans are extremely mild and mellow.

    • @thehomegrownartist214
      @thehomegrownartist214  Před 5 lety +1

      Thanks! I have a few tubes and I’ve noticed that. The problem I have with Sennelier tubes is it takes 2/3 of a tube to fill a pan, bc they shrink a lot. 3 out of the 5 tubes I have are gone already because the binder separated very badly. I wonder if it’s a it’s been shipped to the US thing. I dunno. Either way I do love both the paints. And it’s great that Jackson’s are super affordable.

    • @DrPhilologist
      @DrPhilologist Před 5 lety +1

      @@thehomegrownartist214 Yeah, it must be the shipping. I always have great issues with non-European paint... The price is unbeatable indeed! This must be what other brands would be charging if they were not spending money on promotion and advertising.

    The senneliers look as though they have been mulled finer which can sometimes reduce the refractive index.I love your glazing chart, I haven't seen one like it and may well try it for myself, having very little patience for the way the charts are usually done. Great to watch someone else doing them but just too long a process.

    Hey there Barbara, I haven't commented here too much, but I think about you every day. I read about what happened to your son, and it really affected me as a stay at home father of a 4 y.o. and a newborn. I really empathize for you. Every night I check to see if you've uploaded a video. It's been a while, I hope you are okay.

    Hello, thank you this was a very detailed review. I am looking at the Jackson’s paints, and some of the colors don’t exist at the website, like Quin Red Orange, or Cadmium Red purple, and a few others. You think they changed colors since a year ago? Thanks

    • @thehomegrownartist214
      @thehomegrownartist214  Před 4 lety

      It’s very possible that they stopped using certain pigments in their line. Also could be that they just changed the name, but I know I couldn’t find the pigment for Quin red orange anywhere in their line.
      Thank you for watching!!

    I just ordered a couple of the pans to check it out and I am so impressed with them!! I think I might actually order more, but am undecided between the ivory black and neutral tint. Which one do you like better? I am looking for granulation so that I can mix it with other non-granulating colors to get texture.

    • @thehomegrownartist214
      @thehomegrownartist214  Před 3 lety

      Neutral tint doesn't really granulate, but is a much more dynamic color than just ivory black. Ivory black only has very subtle granulation in most brands. You can mix a granulating black with ultramarine and a warm orange. Or if you want a tube/pan of a granulating black, mission gold has a cobalt black that granulates amazingly. Daniel Smith has manybgranulating darks as well.

      I will tell you tho QoR is different flow all together. All of the colors flow but they do it in a different way than any other paint I’ve ever tried and it gives awesome results, but harder to control.

      Hope to see a comparison in the future...will be watching for it. Just as soon as you said more flow...i had to wonder how it would compare with the Qor I have..dont have Jackson's yet..hoping they ( jacksons) will come out with a square metal palette that holds 18 half pans or 9 full pans like one they ( jacksons) are offering at the moment from schmincke but only to UK shoppers.( boohoo) hope you are settled in soon and do this comparison...thanks..

      Yea I saw that video. However when I compare the same pigments they aren’t the same, but also could be tube vs pan. Not absolutely sure what’s going on there. I know they are made by Sennelier but still not sure if exact paints. Also pigment info for color names are different for some 🤷‍♀️

      I do but that may be because I have them (Sennelier) in the pans and not the tubes poured into a pallet. But for the price difference and how great Jackson’s are I personally will just stick with them from now on. Glad you enjoyed the video!

  • @kamalitarajagopalan2671
    @kamalitarajagopalan2671 Před 3 lety +1

    Have you tried the Jackson pans? And is it worth it to buy their full pans or half pans if the tubes are so affordable?

    • @thehomegrownartist214
      @thehomegrownartist214  Před 3 lety +2

      I have not tried their pans but I would say it’s almost always more cost effective to buy the tubes, especially if you will pour them in your own pans/palette and let them dry. But if you don’t know if you like them yet, I’d say try the split primary and whatever other colors you enjoy in pans first and then you can buy tubes to refill. It’s all up to if you think you will enjoy them or not.

  • @jesusswag4905

    Does the honey in these paints slow down the paint from drying ?

    • @thehomegrownartist214
      @thehomegrownartist214  Před 5 lety

      Not they still dry, they just pull moisture from the air so they stay a lil tacky and are easier to re wet. These were mailed to me in this pallet and did just fine. 😊

  • @SuperExadidas
    @SuperExadidas Před 4 lety

    I have purchased Jacksons watercolor paint in tube, I can say that the the quality of the paint is not even worth to try, because it has a lot of binder - out of 12 colors 8 of them are not usable. Especially Cerulean and Quinacridon Gold
