How do you feel about the Universal Monsters ride rumored to use a KUKA ride system, but without any screen dome scenes?
Cautiously optimistic! I feel this is a really versatile ride system and it wouldn't actually take much for it to feel completely different. Men in Black and Cat in the Hat are the same ride systems, but they're totally different attractions. Really love how Universal seem to have realised that they went too screen heavy for a while.
How do I feel about Universal using more practical effects and sets and fewer screens?... Pretty okay with it!
I feel great about it. It's a much more engaging sensory experience to move through a well-designed 3 dimensional environment then be surrounded by a 2 dimensional environment, though some rides do this part well (Spiderman in my opinion).
The practical effects in Forbidden Journey are the best parts, and the screen-dome carousels, while impressive, were the parts most likely to make me feel a little ill... so I'm pretty happy about that idea!
If we actually get a KUKA ride with no screen portions this will easily be my new favorite dark ride. I'm not against screens at all, but on Forbidden Journey the parts with physical sets are so much better than the screen parts that a full ride's worth would be too amazing!!
This is easily the most excited I've ever been for an attraction and land in a theme park! I hope that Universal sticks with it despite the Monsters not being as popular are superheros or Harry Potter.
HHN is one of their most profitable times of the year, I had no doubts in my mind that they would keep this. People want year round spook!
@@anthonyr1930 I'm glad!!! I am one of those people! Spooky year round! 👻
@@jakeruhl2499 I am too! It’s my favorite time of year at the parks. Christmas is fun too but definitely not scary enough
I’m a huge horror fan, and that love started with the Universal monsters. Needless to say, I’ve dreamed of more Universal Monster attractions at the parks beyond Beetlejuice’s Graveyard Revue and I’m definitely looking forward to this. They aren’t as popular as Harry Potter, but if Universal can make classic cartoons work in Toon Lagoon, there’s more than enough IP content with their monsters by comparison lol
@@CarloisBuriedAlive oh I totally agree! I was actually shocked to learn that Universal Monsters has a history of being cut from plans. It seems like a no brainer for me for a perfect theme park land. But other than a few attractions here and there (like Haunted Mansion at Disney), horror/spooky year round didn't seem to really be something parks were interested in doing. So I'm really excited Universal finally said yes to it!
A high tech dark ride is exactly what this should be. Not everything needs to be a roller coaster. Very excited to see if this comes to life, it's a really amazing concept.
But imagine a high tech dark ride roller coaster. Would that really be such a bad thing????? 😂
@@PatrickVerst For universal monsters, yes. Imagine sprinting through a haunted house
I agree, I love the rides even the rides with the neat screens. I know loads of people love the roller coasters and that’s all good but I prefer immersive rides more, I want to feel like I am there experiencing that actual location and experience.
@@PatrickVerst yes it would considering gringotts was a sad attempt at just that
@@0dylan sad???
The seats are shaped like coffins...
I know it's a little detail, but it's the little things that count, that show just how much love they put into these attractions
I think Universal after a few stumbled years is finally hearing the users by creating thrilling and no screens attractions. While Bob Paycheck is going in the opposite direction, I think this is Universal's opportunity to become the trendsetter and be on top. I am sorry they cannot have more land to do all this together!!!
Not finally,…. they heard it a few years ago
I was afraid that this part of the theme park would get scrapped. Very excited for this.
Same, this is already my fave part of the park!
I really hope the plans for that rumored creature of the Black lagoon boat ride comes true.
Hopefully, they use the Mack rides rocking boat system for that. Would be pretty awesome.
@@dashkataey1740 I think a ride system like Pirates of the Caribbean at Shanghai Disney would be sweet. Or they might try to create a technologically advanced version of the old defunct Jaws ride.
It probably would come later in the parks history. Probably a few years later. There are expansion pads for it so that’s where it would go.
If even just one ride at Epic Universe is as good as the Beijing Jurrasic World ride, the park will be a great success in my opinion. Maybe that will be this ride!
Just wait… still awaiting rumors for Creature from the Black Lagoon.
@@ThemeParkStop true! so much to look forward to with this park
I LOVE what Universal has been up to. I have a 10 and 7 year old and my wife and I do a Florida trip every other year, normally multiple days at Disney and one day at Universal. The last trip we took was in October and our kids asked if we could just do more days at Universal and skip Disney, something my wife and I were absolutely thrilled to hear. We all had an amazing time for much less than we'd spend at Disney. Now while Disney parks seem to constantly stumble Universal is taking advantage of it and is absolutely crushing it in my opinion. I may be wrong but I think in the near future after Epic Universe opens Universal is going to be the top dog down in Florida.
A park hopper pass at Disney World is one of the biggest waste of money you can make. But at USF/IOA it's the smartest theme park based investments you can make
I've never clicked a video so fast in my life! Every new update on this gets me super hyped for this ride. I'm really expecting this to be my new favorite theme park ride.
The turntable load station is super interesting.
I think an interesting idea would be to make the monsters land look like everything is in black and white
or black and white the first part, and then the climax of the ride puts it all in color. that would be.....well, Epic!
I love the classic monsters movies they can do whatever kind of ride and I’ll love it lmao
No screens! Amazing!
Best rumor in awhile, right!?
@@ThemeParkStop without a doubt. Great sleuthing Alicia. I’m gonna shout you out on my Disney podcast and direct peeps to this video. Great work
These videos are always so well done. Hats off to you, y'all always make my day.
Thanks!
Agreed!
Thankyou so much @theme park stop Alicia
I love the new rides coming to universal! Disney can’t get cheap and lazy anymore. They’ve got competition now. Bob chapek needs to realize universal is coming big!
Plot twist:
It's just robotic arms revolving around a giant statue of Earl the Squirrel
Great video … most people have no idea how much hard work goes into creating these videos. Thank you for all your hard work. Love your channel!
0:00 The epic music again! You KNOW it's a video on Epic Universe when this music plays.
0:36 Ooh, some NEW epic music!
Great video, so excited for this park and always look forward to your updates 🥳
Thanks!
Surprised the cancelled Van Helsing ride wasn't brought up since that was in the works before FJ & also rumored to feature more sets/animatronics instead of screens.
No ride concept is ever truly dead, just shelved for a rainy day.
Yep! My first video on the Monsters land from 2019 talked about the Van Helsing concept and how ironic it is that they’ve circled back around to it in a way!
Alicia, your videos, podcasts and articles are always amazing. It's clear that you have high-level sources working for Universal all the other podcasters don't have. Grazie Mille.
WOW! These patents are incredible at this rate the front gate of Epic Universe will have a vampire that looks similar to a local mouse with a stake in it's heart!
I thought it was going to be a drive in ride where you “drive in” to the screen. That would be a really cool ride
That would be amazing!
Little to no screens and instead more animatronics and physical sets ? Amazing !
Maybe the expansion ride could be the new Mack Rides "Rocking Boat" ?
KUKA arms are so cool that it's a shame to hide them! Maybe the arms themselves will be worked into the "mad scientist" theming?
The patent images show passengers looking over their shoulders... so increased visibility does seem like a motivation behind this new design.
I would love to thank these rumors for getting me into the classic monsters. Those movies kept me occupied during the early days of the pandemic.
🕵🏻♀️ I am so ready! Creature is my favorite classic monster. Hoping they’ll have Japan level themed foods!
the universal monsters ride/area of the park is SO LONG overdue i cant wait for this.
Great content as always :D !
I’ve been waiting for this video, I saw like 3 other theme park youtubers mention your tweets
Lol that’s the way it goes. Been busy for the holidays so article came first this time, but that did allow me to confirm some details for the video version at least!
@@ThemeParkStop lol you did not disappoint!
I really like the "flying" feeling of the dome screen parts in FJ, but no screens should mitigate the nausea that some people feel on that KUKA system. I was worried about this land opening with one ride, but if its an upgrade on FJ, this would be a world class ride. KUKA system with practical sets offers the thrills that a monster dark ride should have.
One thing that I think is being overlooked is that it appears the arms are on a trackless base. That may be one reason there are no indicator lights, walls or hoods, to reduce weight. It also would make the idea of looping back around during load much easier. Additionally that rotating platform could be covered so that ADA gusts could board and then it would travel out.
That doesn’t seem to be specified, as it says “moves along a track or path.” The patent is more concerned about the seats, but from rumors it seems tracked.
That’s very impractical considering you need 480VAC to power the robot, as well as the need to power the vehicle and it’s propulsion system. Also seems like stability could be of concern on a trackless chassis
@@_techniker_ Kuka has a large trackless system they offer for their larger units. It's not necessarily out of the realm of possibility. The battery can provide a good base weight and it can easily charge in certain spots and over at un/load. The arms used on forbidden journey are rather simplified to the heavy duty offerings from Kuka.
@@AmusementLabs Not out of the realm of possibility, just extremely unlikely. And the robots used on forbidden journey are not simplified. They’re just as “heavy duty” and have additional safety certs from TÜV which makes them rated for transporting passengers.
I love they are doing physical sets and animatronics!!!! Universal really listens to its audience!!!
I love the HP ride but the screen technology it’s a bit outdated.
Good catch on the lack of a hood and what it means for screens. As great as it would be to have a Kuka coaster, those vehicles are so big that throughput would plummet. Hopefully they'll find some other use for this patent that will keep throughout up.
That new rotating loading platform seems like an awesome upgrade
GREAT explanation of the patents and what it might mean for the ride!!!
The Universal Monsters area is hands down what our family is most excited for.
I could watch these videos all day!
I really hope Universal confirms this Land!!!! I am a huge fan of The Universal Classic Monsters!!!!
I’d love to see a creature ride as a spiritual successor to JAWS
Secretly hoping for universal to go all out in their new park and not hold anything back
It seems like they will. Between Super Nintendo World, the Monsters ride, and the Potter ride, I think Epic Universe SHOULD be amazing!
Although they do have a strange Minions walkthrough attraction replacing Shrek and a VR Potter broomstick ride replacing Fear Factor coming up, but those don't seem anywhere near as exciting as Epic Universe obviously.
@@NocturneFexy yeah. The fear factor area is limited so idk. But I'm just hoping they have little vr or screen based stuff at epic and get away from it. Very played out
@@andersonroofing589 Mario Kart has AR but it seems that a lot of the major attractions will NOT have screens at Epic Universe.
They shut down Shrek for the Minions Villain-Con thing which seems to be a shooter ride but you're standing on a conveyer belt. I hope it's less like Web Slingers and more like Street Mission at PortAventura since I'm sure the Villain-Con thing would use screens.
Love the monsters! Really hope they tweak the seats though have never been able to ride forbidden journey due to my height and shoulder width.
I'm so excited for this. Although I am a little disappointed to hear it's not using the G3 concept, I feel that could have been taken advantage of to make for a very unique experience.
At least there still making a dark ride roller coaster in that land.
Very interesting and thanks for sharing this info. Excited for this but I sure do hope that the Black Lagoon ride also gets built, even if it is later down the line. As someone who missed the chance to experience Jaws. I hope it is similar to that in some ways. :D
I think Jaws still exists at some Universal park- Japan?
I was hoping since Epic Universe got delayed they would just go ahead and open black lagoon with the rest of the park now 😔
@@calebgivens4884 they've built a lot recently so maybe they are just trying to spread costs around. Hopefully it's a good sign for things to come and they will work on it soon after opening.
Maybe they could make it more like Revenge Of The Mummy in which there are a lot of slow parts and stops for show scenes and then while your flying through the fast parts you have the monsters pop at you from the dark giving you a scare. Having it be like Hagrid’s on the other hand wouldn’t allow anyone to fully experience what is going on and it’ll be harder to grasp the narrative.
I hope they stick to the rumored black and white aesthetic for the land.. the look and feel of last years Bride of Frankenstein house at HHN was incredible
I’m honestly super excited for this cause the classic monsters getting a ride will be awesome
Bring. It. On.
that is awesome !!!
Omg I can not wait for this land in this theme park. It looks like it's going to be awesome and out of this world
I'm really excited for this ride!
This sounds so incredibly epic I CANNOT wait!!! 😃👍✊
Very exciting, can’t wait
Thanks.
I’m so excited for this land!
I am so pumped for this! Way more excited for this land than anything Disney has put out in the past decade, and I used to shun the thought of even going to universal. Thanks, Bob Chapek, for opening my eyes to all that Universal now has to offer!
Another fantastic video Alicia!!! Do we know when epic universe might open?
Hopefully as soon as possible! But probably by 2025.
Im very excited for this attraction.
Very cool
So hype for this park
I’m so excited for the new park!!!!!
I'm both shocked and suprised that Universal still holding on and using their past movies IP in their new park.
I’m literally in love. I need to go to epic universe. This is the coolest shit I’ve ever seen
My grandfather watch those movies
A ride is nice, but what I'm looking for is an east coast version of Universals House Of Horrors. An all day 24/7 haunted house.
I sincerely hope the seats are more inclusive.
I love this ride system. It works well
I noticed that the base the arm is attached to looks like it could potentially be a trackless vehicle.
Also, is anyone else creeped out by the fact that the dummies in the diagram have toes, and that there's some lines with numbers that seem to be calling attention to this?
I really hope there will be more slow dark rides like ET. Not everything has to be a giant marquee thriller. I want 3 year olds to have fun too without resorting to dumbo clones
I wonder if Epic Universe could have a Illumination Attraction somewhere in the theme park. I never knew that Universal Orlando was building a brand new theme park near them. Maybe if I ever move to another state probably Florida then maybe I will go to Universal Studios Orlando and then go to Epic Universe.
I’m just hoping this ride and Universal future rides are more accessible for people who are on the bigger side
Universal, if you’re watching, we are all going to be VERY DISAPPOINTED if you don’t eventually build a Creature boat ride in the expansion area!! …….and give it a small, thrilling drop like Disneyland’s Pirates of the Caribbean for an extra thrill.
I have never been so damn excited…
Yes please!
Are they planning on building any roller coasting on epic park?
It would be cool if there was a permanent universal monsters HHN House in the land, similar to the walking dead attraction in universal Hollywood!
Clicked on this video so fast
Y'know, since its called SUPER Nintendo World, what if we were to design a park themed specifically to the greatest hits of the SNES?
Now obviously there would be plenty of Super Mario to choose from (World, All-Stars, Kart, Yoshi's Island).
Next, just like in Universal, would be a land themed to the Donkey Kong Country trilogy.
Then we'd have a Zelda land based on A Link to the Past.
StarFox would fit the role of the sci-fi Tomorrowland area.
Finally, something for the adults; might be controversial, but I feel its a forgotten franchise that deserves a second look: Killer Instinct
I'm still really hoping for a more thrilling ride experience in portions
I really wish they would bring back Back to the Future. The franchise is timeless.
Epic universal is amazing
So how many rides are rumored to open with the park?
I just hope they dont make it too motion sicknessy... like forbidden journey. Such a cool ride- but a lot of people cant ride it
Universal is coming hard for Disney.
Goodbye Haunted Mansion.
If they leave out the monster from this island earth again. I will cry
If this and the Potter ride are as good as, if not better than what Universal's been making as of late (I WOULD add Mario Kart, but I know people have a lot of mixed opinions over that ride). Then Disney should be shaking in their boots.
2:16 3:57 The chairs of the ride vehicle look more like Bowser's throne to me. >:)
I can definitely see that!
@@ThemeParkStop Me too!
What was the source of the classic Monsters lineup @ 2:22 ?
Universal Classic Monsters: The Essential Collection Blu-ray release booklet I believe.
We even don’t know the opening date for epic universe yet.
I'm confused about the hype around epic universe, so 1-2 rides per theme area? In other words a regular theme park?
Hopefully the seats will be a little larger. I'd love it if Universal was more fluffy person friendly like Disney.
Just lose some weight
Why should everyone else always have to make accommodations for fat people?
Not the KUKA arm! Forbidden Journey is absolutely nauseating. I was most excited for this area of the park, but I guess I’ll add this to the long list of rides that cause motion sickness at Universal.
This is BS we need great things like this in Hollywood.
If the theatre show isn’t about the phantom of the opera, I’m suing.
Do the kids like the Dracula and Frankenstein? Maybe I'm wrong, but they don't seem like IP that many people care about. 😩
universal monsters ride vendria do similar to harry potter and the forbidden journey ?
They need to create it asap. Im getting older n wont be able to ride rides.
They should bring jaws back, but better.
