    This was a great help, thanks a lot! I kind of only watched until you started screwing in all the bolts because I figured I could put everything back together afterwards. But....right when I was walking to the truck to put it back together, I saw and realized I wanted the rubber mat back in. It was easy enough to unscrew everything, put the mat back on, flip over the dash piece and mark the holes with a silver Sharpie. Then I drilled from the back using the small bit, flipped it over and drilled with the larger bit on the top side. Well, drills bit don't work too well on the rubber and I had holes but it was impossible to put the screws into the dash mount, past the mat, and into the dash. After a minute of swearing, I realized you could put the dash mount on the rubber mat, push all 4 bolts through (which also holds it all in place), then put that assembly onto the dash. Everything looks and works great. One note, if you want to keep the rubber mat, then I suggest sliding the dash mount forward 1/8" to give a little room for the lip on the rubber mat.

    Installed mine today and I can’t say enough good about it. Also, I ordered this stuff around Black Friday....I missed the coupon code and first thing the next day Matt emailed and told me he would cancel the order so I could order more and take advantage of the Black Friday discounts. I am a small business owner and there is nothing I enjoy more than shopping with a small business! Not to mention that Red Carpet service that you usually get from about 90% of the small businesses too. Thanks, Matt! I love my BuiltRight stuff!

    Great video. I finally installed mine, and the instructions were perfect. I would like to advise that the stereo cover on the 2019 Ford Super Duties has a thin "mesh cover" over the main cover, so at 3:50 into the video, try to get the pry tool under the entire stereo cover, not the mesh portion. I could see some separation at the mesh cover when I attempted to remove it as shown in the video. No other issues. Also my left turn signal came on by itself, just as it did at 5:40 in the video.

      3 years later, to anyone wondering if it's worth it to splurge on the lower plate, my kit just came in today and I couldn't be happier. Glad I spent the extra few bucks to not have to make a lower plate myself. Theirs is overbuilt, just how I wanted it. It really is a must-have.
      Overall impression of the product is 100% satisfied with my purchase. I didn't want some cheap flimsy garbage, and apparently they feel the same way. All the functionality you want without any excess wacky designs or features, like some other available offerings. Just heavy duty shit that'll probably outlast my truck. Good work!

    Re: 2:02 I used the drilling template to cut the rubber "floor mat" that fits in that area to fit on top of the mount screwheads. You can store things in there now without worrying about scratching them on the screwheads (which will have sharp edges after touching them with a screwdriver).

    • @patriotone755
      @patriotone755 Před 3 lety +4

      The flip side is if you sell the truck and don’t use the rubber mat, you can remove the mount, place the rubber mat back in and cover the drilled holes. If I use the mount I will not drill the rubber mat. Just another option.

    • @NM2011CTSV
      @NM2011CTSV Před rokem

      Old post but this is what I plan on doing, not cutting the rubber mat. BUT I’ll need to check for a PN on the backside of the mat and just buy a replacement if available, then I’ll cut my mat.

    In my truck I’m debating to drill out a few holes in the semi vertical area behind your mount (area just under the speaker grill ) and add power plugs . Use 3.5mm jacks to USB . I think it would make for a clean looking setup , and provide a place to get power from if there’s a dash cam mounted on the bracket .

  • @Lightning546
    @Lightning546 Před 2 lety

    Where did you get the wiring harness from? I'm planning to mount my ham radio to the mounting bracket and then my dash cam on top of the ham radio and need a power outlet to plug into in that area. Now if I can figure out how to remove the trim piece around the navigation unit and the one under the steering column so I can run the wires from the passenger side behind the radio and to the switch that is going to be mounted next to the headlight switch for my train horns.
    After installing the bracket (2022 F-350 super duty) I discovered that it's almost 1" too short to use for the purpose I intended to use it for. So now, I will have to make a spacer to mount the mounting bracket for my ham radio to so that the bottom of the radio will not ride on and beat up the dash. Other than that, it is very well made, I just wish that Ford had made the dash pocket indentation the same size on all 4 sides.

    If you put an aluminum plate on the bottom would it help make it much stronger for the larger ball mount?

    • @BuiltRightInd
      @BuiltRightInd  Před 6 lety

      A thick plate on the bottom of the tray may help just a little bit with the very heavy attachments that are 'cantilevered' away from the mount. This would help prevent some of the flex in the plastic. The main thing is just that keeping something as heavy as a Lowrance HDS-7 or similar stable requires exponentially more rigidity than lighter items.

    • @dgoatranch
      @dgoatranch Před 3 lety

      I believe there are two 7mm bolts under the trim on the front side. Personally, I like the BuiltRight but there are other brands out there that replace the tray with a steel plate that bolts front and back (four bolts) that provides a very sturdy mount. Wish BuiltRight could do that. The plastic part of the dash is always the weak spot for mounts.

      Best ways would be to run an add-a-fuse at the fuse panel in the passenger footwell and then fish a wire to a small hole in the tray. Another option is to tap into the power at the accessory plug which requires removal of the faceplate.

    Do you get any screen bounce or screen vibration on rough roads when using the longer ram mount for your gps? I have used ram mounts before, they isolate some screen vibration, but the longer the arm can result in a vibrating screen. Thoughts and feed back appreciated.

    • @BuiltRightInd
      @BuiltRightInd  Před 3 lety

      You will definitely get a bit of movement with the long arm for the reason you mentioned as well as the fact that the dash isn't perfectly rigid. Our customers who need things to be absolutely locked down offroad use our dash mount along with a suction cup mount to the window. RAM has a three-way ball and some different cases with two mounts that allow you to use both arms on one device.
