Baja Designs XL Racer + S1/SAE Fog Pocket Kit // 2024 Raptor Build Ep.9
We're completely outfitting this Raptor with lighting from our good friends over @bajadesigns and controlling it all with @4x4sPOD ... Last week you guys saw us install that sPOD HD BantamX (link below) and this week we tackled the truck's A-Pillar lights and Fog Pocket Kit. We decided to mount Baja Designs' XL Racer Edition High Speed Spots on SDHQ's SDHQBuilt A-Pillar Light Mounting Brackets, and installed their S1/SAE Squadron Fog Pocket setup. Both installs took a total of about 2 hours - which didn't feel like long at all! When running lights to the sPOD, especially with the harnesses Baja Designs includes in these kits, wiring, testing and powering multiple configurations/accessories is a breeze. Learn more about what we installed below!

    Just added this to my 2016 F150 Platinum. Very easy install and very well built. That said, If you have the upgraded stereo, there isn't much "room" to be gained behind this seat. Still useful however. I did run into a small issue on the install and that was the ford latch was sticking a bit. A little WD40 and all was well.

      We have big plans for this truck and should be needing more than 6 on/off toggles hopefully! The sPOD has incredible functionality through their bluetooth app too such as linking buttons, strobe adjustment, and it allows for much easier reconfiguration/wiring than tapping into the upfitter switches (in our opinion!)

    That's pretty impressive. What brand and model of bedcover is that? When down can it be well secured, and how water/rain/snow resistant is it? I've been leaning towards getting a smooth, black Diamondback HD bedcover when I get my new F150, and it is very secure and water/weather resistant, almost proof, if installed properly. Your set up here would work great with a bedcover like the one you use here. Might you come up with a bed set up at some point geared more towards the Diamondback HD? Some of the access issues would likely require some changes, but I bet you could come up with a great approach to all that. Meanwhile I want to learn more about this cover you use, or any other you might recommend. Thanks.

    The more of your vids I am finding the more I am impressed. Great stuff! A question. I am seriously considering getting a Diamondback HD bedcover when I get my new F150 in 2025, possibly a Platinum but leaning Raptor. In any case, because of the design of the Diamondback HD, and the fact that I will only be able to access the bed from the tailgate when I have various things on top of it, have you guys, or might you, come up with a bedside rack design where the Maxtrax can be mounted nearer to the tailgate for ready access? Where they are here near the front of the bed, is the perfect place as long as you can access from above, but that is not always possible, as in my scenario, at least not without climbing inside and maybe taking everything else out first. Those Maxtrax you need quick easy access regardless of circumstance. I wonder, for instance, can they fit above the wheels inside the bed or is that vertical space too small? If there is room there, maybe attach your mounts above the wheels in both sides, and one on the far back, tailgate side of the underside of the bedcover, then people could maybe put all 4 on one side, or 2 on each side, or maybe 2 on one side and two on the underside of the cover, but all reachable thru the open tailgate? Other? Thanks.

  • @Nate-zy5ce
    @Nate-zy5ce Před 17 dny

    Good stuff. I've now seen a few of your vids, and I just found you today. I have a suggestion, a request even: I'll be buying my F150 in 2025, considering levelling and modifying a Platinum with the Powerboost engine, but leaning towards the Raptor, likely the 37, and doing some mods to it. And I like what I've seen of your mods, your Builds. But whichever I get, I have an issue. I drive elderly people around from time to time, to and from the Senior Center or church or to go shopping, to treat to a nice meal out, various reasons to help, and some, many, would have a little difficulty getting up into a levelled, lifted pickup. Whether I get the electric running board that lowers, or the fixed one that comes on the Raptor, I've been planning on figuring out how best to design a small portable step exactly half the height from the ground to the running board, rubberized top and on the bottom of the feet for non-slip and stability, and ideally collapsible flat to have the most flexibility to store inside the rear of the cab but quickly accessible, maybe sliding into the pocket behind one of the front seats, or maybe laying down inside the collapsible, lockable storage under the rear seat, ideally both being possible. It would need to be very strong, probably metal, black epoxy coated with legs that snap into place when opened, low and stout, just wide enough but no more, likely slightly rectangular rather than square to best accommodate the foldable legs, and good looking, looking both solid for people to have confidence in it but also just plain looking good. And wouldn't be stingy on the max weight capacity, if I think 300 lbs is high enough, make it 400 or 500 lbs. And though for the elderly, or very short, that would be the obvious use case, people get injured, while out and about, or must wear casts or such. Some of them too could benefit from such a step being readily available. My suggestion, or request, is for you to design and offer one. I bet it would sell. You could even offer it as a discounted or complimentary accessory to your Builds. If done right, I'd buy one. Thanks. If you like the idea, and if you want, call it something like "Nate's step". 🙂 Even engrave that name nicely onto one of the legs or maybe the underside. 🙂

    Great product that I hope to install one day in my '23 F-150 Tremor. Question; does the panel get effected by seat recline? I know some F-150s have the fold flat feature where you could nap in the front seats.

    • @BuiltRightInd
      @BuiltRightInd Před 18 dny

      The Seatback MOLLE Panel kits aren't currently compatible with the fold flat seats but those are on very, very few trucks. Because we're rigidly fixing to the seat back frame, you can recline and manipulate your seat as needed without worry!

    I’m sure it’s a great product and well thought outI just think it makes the interior look messy and cluttered. I also imagine whatever you hang on there makes noises when you go over bumps in the road.

    • @BuiltRightInd
      @BuiltRightInd Před 18 dny

      The system is definitely quiet if you attach things well using the solutions that we offer. Obviously, if you put a box of bolts anywhere in your truck, you're going to hear it! Regarding how it looks, it's really a matter of opinion because oftentimes, the alternative is not to have nothing in the back seat but to have a mess of stuff sliding around on the floor and under the seat. That being said, we always prioritize utility and function over how the end results looks. We think it looks cool, but we're biased. :)

      I got to say, 4 months ago when I first discovered BuiltRight, I didn’t care for the back panels for the front seats. But handling daily stuff in the truck took me to give a serious look to this product. I, reluctantly, ordered one for the driver side, with the intention to hold with 2 small pouches, slings and tie downs (you know, daily truck stuff). I’m amazed at this thing. I had to order the passengers side panel and 2 more small pouches. I mean, they look sick and slick. They don’t interfere with nothing! They are well designed, and the look on my STX’s interior just got upgraded, in my opinion. You might think I’m biased, but I didn’t like them at the beginning!! That all changed the moment the box got opened and during the installation. Man, they look good! It was a leap of faith, because I was resolved to get the bed panels first, but I kept thinking about this possibility, and went for it. I’m glad I did! @Sam

So hardware doesn't back out of these things under vibration? If I were using them, I'd probably use a little loctite. For $22, I think I'll just stick to pulling the panel off when I need to get behind it with a wrench.
