Looking at all the stuff that's out now, I find it so amusing the media use to be outraged over tv shows like beavis and butthead and games like mortal kombat when they still had pixels.
Society didn't care. Mtv just didn't want to get sued.
I recently saw an episode of the new series recently and there was something done in this episode that the OG series on MTV could have NEVER gotten away with. Butt-Head shot a gun. I was taken a back when I saw that, and then I laughed hysterically b/c the recoil from the riffle hit Beavis in the face lol
I just think it’s impressive that a Tiger Electronics handheld actually has a proper multi-channel sound chip that plays real music and digitized samples, since all the other ones just have a buzzer inside them and no sound chip.
Had to have one redeeming quality... The gameplay on these things is arse at best.
yeah this looks to be a " 2nd generation" of tiger handhelds. they usually only needed 2 batteries. The extra 2 probably ran just the chip with voices.
This is probably the most ambitious attempt at a tiger games I have seen before.

being these where to be as cheap as possible. to add a custom sound chip for the voices was crazy. you can tell its a custom chip because the game pauses when a voice plays.
As a kid, I remember a few Tiger commercials advertising the feature of voice sounds.
But yeah, most games didn't have voice sound effects.
This was years before the release of Duke 3D Tiger

I hated those LCD "games." I could never tell what was happening.
You had to pretty much lose 10 times to get the gist of any of them. Reading the instructions didn’t help either
I forgot what those kind of "etched" LCDs are called. I had a bunch of the Xbox ones. I actually took them with me during road trips. I quite liked the little drawn background that some of them had. And there was one that I actually found really interesting. It was a 3D game where you explored rooms and fought bad guys. The others may have been nothing more than silly little distractions, but I had genuine fun with that one.
Nintendo did them right. Lots of the game and watch games are actually really fun to play and addicting.
I always knew about the 2 episodes from season 1 that were banned (Was down Mexico Way which is hysterical and the paint thinner episode)but never realized they banned something like this.

I saw Police Academy 5 when I was a kid and I always felt that sun-lotion scene was extremely funny.

My family was too poor to buy any video game system , plus there was only one tv in the house . There’s no way in hell my dad would turn off his westerns for me to play video games . Anyway , I got the Tiger castlevainia 2 game for Christmas one year . I played the hell out of it , and very much enjoyed it . I felt lucky to have that , i usually got a new pair of shoes for Christmas , and some oranges in my stocking .

Sure were, but that didn't keep kids from bringing them on the bus or long car rides to whatever destination they were obligated to tag along.
If I were to lay out the entertainment factor in a xy graph form, the vertical axis being enjoyment factor and the y being duration, it would look something like reverse wedge over the span of 15-20 minutes on a 30 minute scale. The peak at the very onset steadily declining into 0, the final flat-line for the remaining time represents where out of complete disinterest the user turns it off, examines the artwork surrounding the screen for a minute, and then proceeds to fidget with the unpowered device while looking out the window, or toss it in the air or at something/someone for the remainder of the trip.
Yup, as someone who grew up in a family that was financially strapped for years, these garbage Tiger handhelds were my ONLY “touchstone” into the realm of gaming FOR YEARS.

Too bad Tiger lacked the courage to defy the petty tyrants who were whining. This was one of their better games. I had a buddy who owned it and wanted my own but could never find it.

This was at a time when Karens had too much power.
Remember, Swat Kats, also 1993-1994, was #1 highest rated animated show on television. And vocal moms got it cancelled. Insane.

I got the info from a lot of different sources, even eBay listings but yeah Sean you are a Beavis and Butthead legend and I would be lying if I didn’t say you’re the ultimate specialist in the history of the boys.
By the way Sean, did you ever see the video of you breaking your leg from that concert or whatever featured on a Hydewars perfect guy life episode? I saw it maybe a year or two ago, they were watching random videos and they played that one and commented on it.

I talked to a guy years ago who worked for a Kmart and had a story of them having to take if off shelves, but they hadn't opened the boxes to stock em yet, and he kept the case haha. They advertised it in the mini catalog that came with the VHS back then so I recall looking for it and calling places endlessly that year haha

I can still remember the music from the Bugs Bunny game... Grabbing carrots from the side of the road while dodging Daffy Duck and Yosemite Sam!
These Tiger handhelds were generally quite dissapointing, but I do remember having an Aladdin themed device and borrowing one of Bucky O'Hare, both were actually quite coherent and genuinely fun.
They were definitely trash, the lot of them but yeah. I had the Tiger Mortal Kombat, which was decent if I forgot what for the game console versions were like.
They were such crap that they are making a comeback

A few of them were fun if they didn't try to push it too far. I had a pinball one I loved and a spaceship one which wasn't actually made by Tiger but tree same idea.

I mean, the manual says "piss" and other "swears" right inside of it, lol... so it may have been a tad of that more so than the spoken / bit crushed "this sucks" and "dork" that did it in with parents and such. That said, this would have easily been the coolest Tiger game back then though... I had TMNTs, Sonics, and other misc Tiger games when I was a wee lad. . . But this one would have easily been king of the crap games for sure, had I owned it.

1:29 The nostalgia is real. Back when we bought A LOT of batteries back then. Sad that newer technologies all have chargers through some sort of usb. My favorite part about the batteries is it feels like you're reloading a really cool shotgun. Like literally. And please guys. The very few out there. I'm not commenting this because I'm those really stupid weird guys that commit a crime to be on the news and end up d....d. Please do not do that. (really f... up your loved ones, friends, or close ones that are still living. No joke.) Just pretend you're reloading or pretend you're smoking a water bath toy pipe but NEVER actually do it in real life. GOD, I had SO MANY of those GARBAGE Tiger handhelds when I was younger which were my ONLY “touchpoint” to ACTUAL VIDEO GAMES for YEARS (I grew up relatively poor).

I FINALLY got a PS1 in like ‘98 when I was pretty much about to hit puberty after YEARS of “asking Santa” on my Xmas list every year for (ironically) a Nintendo.
I at least got to “live vicariously” through my best friend and cousins who had the Genesis and SNES. If it weren’t for them, my early gaming career would’ve been relegated SOLELY to those CRAPPY Tiger handhelds and whatever I could get to run on our family PC (my dad was a software engineer) so I did AT LEAST get to experience gaming through stuff like DOOM, Hexen, Ultima, and some of those old 90s PC classics.
Put at 1.5 speed. Makes the video much more watchable

I never recalled seeing this Tiger Electronics game in my life. If there was to be a Tiger Electronics version of Grand Theft Auto; yes, that will get banned as well.
Tiger Electronics games were actually the high end and more pricey of shitty LCD handhelds with usually the most coherent gamplay, best looking sprites and actual licensed properties.
I only owned one Tiger game because they cost too much, my other LCDs were actual crap.

O.M.G. I remember seeing this game at a Toys R' Us by me, but didn't buy it myself though! I did tell a friend about it, and took him to a different one, where him and I were going to get it then, only for it to not be there! Needless to say he got kind of angry with me, while accusing me of lying to him, when I frantically tried to explain to him that I definitely saw this game before! At least this finally explained things to me after all that time too! L.O.L.!

God it's funny how companies & people was back in the day. I remembered hearing the beep beep when people said mild curse words when i was a kid. They thought everything was evil. Even pokemon & harry Potter was too much 🤣 i wonder how they feel today. You don't hear them screaming about tv & games nowadays.

They use a lot of the sound bytes from the sega genesis version. I never saw this particular tiger lcd game anywhere and had no idea it was pulled.
Being a little kid on the 80s and 90s, i saw loads of tiger lcd games well after the original game boy was out.
Oh yeah they were still out all throughout the 90’s. They were cheap handhelds kids got when their parents were too cheap to shell out 100 bucks for a gameboy 😂
