    Are you going to try it?

      Yes door sills first, frunk and trunk, then maybe front wheel wells

    reducing vibration will reduce interior noise far more than trying to mitigate wind noise from the outside of the vehicle. The strip along the top of the windshield can help eliminate the oscillating/whistling noise that will happen at a very specific speed. But overall wind noise can't really be reduce without sealing unseen gaps in the car--ones that are unreachable, namely sound ingress through the firewall behind the front console, throught he gaps behind the seats from the trunk area, and gaps between the door and chassis.
    Reducing vibration can be done using adhesive high density butyl rubber sheets with foil laminate. You'd have to basically tear down the entire interior of the car to access the aluminum panels of the chassis to apply them behind seats, under seats, under carpeting, behind door cards, plus all interior surfaces of the boot, boot lid, as well as the front trunk and frunk lid. It's a PITA but it wil reduce the road noise drastically, so it is worth it if you want to soundproof your car's interior. Another catch is that it'll add about 40-50lbs to the car (depending on how thick butyl you use, though thicker isn't necessarily better). It will not, however reduce wind noise, which is why in almost all cases, before and after measure with decibel meters are vitually the same, and it is namely from the wind noise. In the end, the factor that plays the most in interior noise is simply the car's design.. Cars are designed from the beginning to mitigate road and wind noise, and what they end up is what you get. Some better than others.

    I guess the kind of tires are also a contributing factor with the cabin “noise”.

      Yeah, I’ll probably look for quiet sets them the stock ones when I need to replace them.

      no doubt about it, tire types can make a big difference

    What they should do is have the stereo volume go up as your speed goes up. That's literally what every modern car does. I had that on my Kia Forte from f'ing 2011. Also, you have cruise control you should use that to maintain a specific speed. Other factors like cars passing and whatnot is always going to screw these tests up. I noticed a lot of more luxurious car brands don't even have fold down seats to prevent noise from the trunk to come into the cabin lol also almost the entire interior is glass which echos a lot of the sound versus a car without a glass roof. It's going to be noisier regardless.

    Thanks for the video bro! Not much of a difference but anything helps I guess haha

    IMO its road noise not wind noise thats the main issue, so I think the door seals is a good idea and for sure sound proofing at least the front wheel wells. The Frunk and Trunk liners will help a little also so all of things together is probably the best you can do without removing the interior and sound insulating everything. Also every decibel you can lower the sound by is a good improvement even if you only get 1 or 2 decibel lower per fix.

      There is a lot of sound from the trunk

    Appreciate all the effort that went into making this video. However, based on the results, -2bd overall does not seem worth the time, money and effort to purchase and install the required parts. For me, I need a much better reduction in noise to justify the cost and time to install the parts.

      I agree - it’s almost negligible unless you like doing random stuff lol

    Hi, how's the rubber strips holding up at this point? Do you think the rubber strips contributed to the noise reduction, or the trunk sound deadening mats? Thanks.

    • @DennisCW
      @DennisCW  Před 4 lety

      One strip flew off and I haven’t replaced it because I didn’t see the need. Overall everything reduced decibels around 3 dB in total which is negligible.

      @@DennisCW 3db is actually quite a difference at half the noise levels, will consider putting them. Thanks for the reply.

    Hi there, It’s my first time getting a Tesla, i got the Model Y, first EV actually, I’m hearing some sound it’s as if it’s a car window left open, while the rest are closed, that annoying noise that has a pressure like quality to the ears. Is that what a wind noise is? Thanks.

    • @DennisCW
      @DennisCW  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah - it’s all wind noise, unfortunately you just have to get used to it. The sound kits help a little bit but not really at all. But it’s worth the small amount of money you pay for the kits. Let me know how your experience goes

    • @Babalutu573

      DennisCW - Tesla Tech Money Cars & Stuff yeah I ordered a kit, we’ll see how it goes. I also have mobile service come in and check in the next 2 days.

    Do you have wind noise or just road noise? I hear actual wind, looking for a fix.

    • @DennisCW
      @DennisCW  Před 4 lety

      I hear wind noise . I think all of these fixes reduce it my like 2-4 decibels max . czcams.com/video/t-nipzC-XO0/video.html

    The comparison is invalid because the speed of two trials were not identical.
