- Kerala-based Safiya PM has approached the SC with a unique plea. A non-believer, she no longer wants to be governed by Sharia law or Muslim personal laws but secular laws instead. The Supreme Court has is hearing the plea in July 2024.

No, coming to this question of inheritance. In Islam, its mandatory for a man to earn and provide for his wife and children. As for women, islam has given her choice. If she wants she may earn and take care of her family, if she doesn't its her choice again. But for a muslim man, its mandatory. If he doesn't fulfill this obligation we believe that he will be punished in hell.
Because islam has made it obligatory for him to earn and provide whatsoever, he is given 2 parts of wealth and 1 part goes to women.

O you who believe! If you dislike them, it may be that you dislike a thing and Allâh brings through it a great deal of good.
And remember Islam is the only religion which made it obligatory on men to pay dowry to women..

Many Muslims across the Islamic countries become Australian citizens and give the citizenship test where I read that civil law is above religious law when in conflict and it is a secular country for all have equal rights to practice their faith under Uniform Civil Code. No Muslim from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh or any other country has any problem with it to become Aus citizen.
Finally kerala is becoming part of India

If she were educated she would have known that in Islam the property is divided into 2:1 ratio in sons and daughters,and if the person has a wife then after giving the mother her part it is distributed in 2:1 ratio as i mentioned. Son gets more than daughter,it is because son will marry and will bring a wife who will share his property with him but the daughter will take her part with her after marrying and she is not obligated to share her part on anybody but she has a part in her husband also.
So how can it be called injustice rather islam gives more right to women than men in case of inheritance.

She is divorced and has a disabled brother and Daughter to care. I have heard her interview she said she doesn't want this 2:1 proportion as she does not follow Islam. She has her identity as Shafiya but she is an Atheist and that's why she is asking SC why is a non-believer in Islam forced to follow Sharia in civil laws. She is demanding property rights as per the Indian Succession Act. She said she does have a daughter. In her case also her share of the property would be 1/3rd and the rest could go to his mama which Shafiya does not want. That's why she filed the petition.

No, coming to this question of inheritance. In Islam, its mandatory for a man to earn and provide for his wife and children. As for women, islam has given her choice. If she wants she may earn and take care of her family, if she doesn't its her choice again. But for a muslim man, its mandatory. If he doesn't fulfill this obligation we believe that he will be punished in hell.
Because islam has made it obligatory for him to earn and provide whatsoever, he is given 2 parts of wealth and 1 part goes to women.
I do understand that women are also sole bread winners in some families. But she is not accountable for it in islam. But a man is. Actually in islam, laws are more strict for man... media makes you think otherwise.

Her father should make a will dividing the property into halves and a condition that she should take care of her brother after his death. If he doesn't do that then its brother 2/3+sister 1/3 as per personal law.
