For me, Some of the best VW conversion content on CZcams. First came across Nathan's channel when only 1k subs but it's growing rapidly and he deserves it 👏
Thank f**k you keep it real. I know there's people with unlimited funds that throw squillions at vehicles. But there's also loads that haven't. I also think alot of people especially youngsters. Feel intimidated because they can't afford the named stuff. The exhaust you put together is doing the job!
Thank you for the video Nathan. Great improvisation using the side rail and good to see Andy in the video too. Who needs a 2k exhaust when you've got DTE's ingenuity. Full credit to you mate. Saved money, saved waste and given us great content - what's not to like. The T5 sounds sweet too - ah ye.
Nice van 👍 that really inspires me and I’ve finally managed to get my hands on a 2015 T5.1 for the princely sum of 6k 👌 loving the vids on this one as it gives me some fantastic ideas, keep up the good work 👍
If it works it works. Never quite understood paying top wonga for a fancy exhaust when handy with a welder. Stellar job as always 👌 Nathan, bit of an odd reequest. I'd quite like to build a PD130 as my first engine. I'm of a mechanical mind and skill, so I can understand le principals. However being a novice to engine building/refurbishing. I'm trying to gain as much knowledge as possible before I end up with a veray prettay and costly coffee table. Do you have any handy tips or things to avoid? It's a bit of a long winded subject with many variables so I fully understand if it's a swift no. Keep smashing it 💪 AH YE 🙌🙏
Hey bud thank you and you’ve taken the time to comment so the least I can do is reply.. My old 1.9 pd had done 280k mileage and the head gasket had gone but after fitting a new engine I stripped it down to find the block was still in such good condition I literally could have re used it without worry so the bottom ends are super strong and I don’t think they need looking at. The heads on the other hand do need looking after, they like to wear camshafts so while building an engine you might aswel fit a new cam, tappets and cam bearing etc, they always like new injector seals so may aswel while you there and always use new injector bolts. The turbos are also known for letting go and for the price of a replacement turbo nowadays I’d stick one on to. That’s a standard setup but would run 180-200 hp all day long for many years. Proper 5 40w pd oil and filter every 10k miles and you’ll have a super reliable engine. Let me know if I can give anymore info. Thanks bud 👍
@@YTDTETVNice one, thanks Nathan! Tis appreciated greatly. I really enjoyed the T5 build series when you had your lump apart and you were going over the head/block details that's what made me ask and decide to do a 130. I love the idea of having one engine/platform to fully learn and understand inside and out. Anyhoo I'll not waffle longer... Thanks once again 🙌🙏
Great work and definitely worth saving the cash. Interesting that my T6 the exhaust finishes well before the rear axle and points down so not even side exit. This is standard fitment too.
Thank you 👍 I’m happy glad you lot approve, I like my diesel engines to breath abit better I feel it helps against carbon build up etc they seem to run sweeter. I’ve seen a t6 with a shorter pipe actually, do you ever smell fumes in the cab? I guess not as Vw know what they are doing 👍
@@materialprufer1024 I guess it’s a cost cutting thing if it works fine and isn’t loud then why waste time effort and money making the exhaust the full length 👍
@@YTDTETV No fumes in the cab at all which surprised me really. If you look at the aluminium heat shields opposite the fuel tank there’s a small cut out into the area of the exhaust. That’s where the factory diesel heater exhaust is fitted, nice and handy when you’re fitting yourself a diesel heater.
Good job, defo a bargain basement job... not a £1M like the fast boys spend. Must confess I do have DD 3" through to a mid box and stepped down to a 2.5" rear pipe.... that is without doubt a bit of a raspberry... very fruity, but still quiet when cruising the King's highways. Apart from the Turbo spooling.. it's quite respectful. What's coming up?
Hey David thank you sir 👍 I won’t lie if I didn’t have multiple projects to spend money on it would be nice to have a posh exhaust but I think the home brew version makes a better video 🤷. Very nice mate 👍. Sneak peak for you I have some coil overs on the way for the T5 and there’s another video on Andy’s zero budget caddy coming soon 👍
Depends on the age of the van. Can't recall the date off hand but I think it's September 2009 but that's a guess but before that date they are not a requirement whatever the date is
DTE, a man of the people. If you can afford it, I'm happy for you😂. Nicely done sir 👊 saved a few quid there.
Haha thank you sir 👍 didn’t want to sound to rude for the people that have shinney exhausts that watch the channel 👍

Same as Sprinter and fwd Vito's, with the exhaust ending before the rear axle. Also no exhaust gas in the inside.

@@dieselbushcraft1299 I have seen many vans with half an exhaust finish half way up so I guess it works 🤷, ah that’s good 👍 my T5 didn’t have that.
Lovely job👍.
Where is the hat that was sent to you.🍻👍
Hey Joey I keep forgetting I’ll hang it next to the ramp from now on so I don’t forget 👍👍
Lovely cheap mod Nathan, another school day !!
Takk!
Thank you Francis ❤️🙏👍
That spare tyre is a little lacking of Tread (but more tread than mine as some DH stole it from my T5) 😌
Did you weigh the mufflers?
Cool straight pipe 🌞
Regards Greg
Hey bud I didn’t, they where very heavy and the new pipe was super light so aswel as free flowing it’s save a few pounds. Thanks Greg 👍
I’ve always wanted to make my side bar into an exhaust
I had it laying about the workshop and noticed the bit on the end looked perfect for the occasion and today was its day 👍
Cant fault it new exhaust for 42qwid and 2hours work.
Thank you mate appreciate that 🙏👍
Price list is like a phone number 😂😂😂😂 be eating pot noodles for how long ?😂😂
Ahhhh yeahhh if you squint it’s mint
Alright mate .vans looking well .what welder do you use?
My welder is an old cebora 180, is old but still does a good job 👍
Nothing wrong with homebrew 🍺.
Thanks Phillip 🙏 I moan about making exhausts but I do enjoy them 👍
That looks sketchy and i don't mean the pipe bud , the lift and thr jack stands .
We've all been there
Hey Ragnar yet I put some axle stands under the ramp legs as I’m only using 2. Definitely don’t want that squishing me to the workshop floor 🙈

Spray it with barbecue paint mate help make it last that little longer
I did think that actually but didn’t have any, the rough looking pipe would look better to 👍
Bang on that Nathan 👌🏼🦾😎
Alright legend?
Ah ye 👍
Skills with a welder has saved you how much money over the years?
Definitely a quid or 2 B-RY 👍
No reverse lights🤔
