- Is Call of Duty 3 really so unremarkable? This game seems to be left out of Call of Duty discussions more often than not. Is it justified? Let's find out.

I never forgot this game, I’ve been praying this game would be remastered, it’s such a great story
It really is. I've grown to like these characters a lot. While I was editing the video I watched that British intro quite a bit and "Wilkins! You blasted idiot!" has been stuck in my head ever since.
I dont think anybody forgot this game Lmao
Yeah
Not to mention epic soundtrack.
Not every game needs a remaster
I remember playing CoD 3 all the time and I'll always remember the menu theme, was only around 7 years old and now I'm almost 20. Time flies.
I still play/listen to it till this day
I loved this game, used to play the campaign over and over again, cod 2 and 3 were my first ever cod games❤️
Which one do you like better? I'm a bit biased as I grew up with COD2 and never played 3 before making this video.
DJANGOVIC I preferred cod 3, I don’t know why but it was always my go to game
Tx_Smokez dude I was the same way, but I remember when cod 3 came out and it was revolutionary as a young kid lmao
Zach Thompson I know right!!
Cod 3 definitely got me into the franchise followed by WAW. Cod 2 I actually played after and really liked as well.
I had fond memories of this game.
The parts with the tank were fun but I wish they let us use planes too.
A plane level would be neat. United Offensive and The Big Red One had a mission in a bomber. Medal of Honor Pacific Assault takes the cake - it had an airplane mission where you actually fly the plane and have to do bombing runs and dogfights. It's fantastic break from the traditional shooting levels! Have you played it?
@@djangovic3157 Bits and pieces of it.
I used to be terrible at video games, so there were a lot of classics I never got the chance to finish.
@@M4A1BestGirl There's no reason not to go back now and play some classics... Or stick around the channel - I'll be doing a lot of old school reviews! :D
Would be awesome if Big Red One and 3 got a remaster, they both had really good campaigns.
Really?!
They ARE 😂🤦♂️
Big Red One is the most underrated CoD. I only got invested so much in the survival of a group again, while playing Red Dead Redemption II
Yo Big red one and 3 were the first ones I ever played and I’m glad I did
@@riograndedosulball248agreed
Now this is a real WW2 game on all fronts, no stupid made up idea of bringing different soldiers together for a bogus mission.
I always felt this title got unfairly overlooked. My very first experience with multiplayer on PS2 was with CoD 3. No mics of course but I will forever cherish the memories I made with this game.
I miss the old Call of Duty focus on throwing tons of friendly and enemy NPCs on screen in big battles. Played this on PS2 back in the day before getting my 360 and thought I must've missed something by playing a last gen port but I'm surprised they kept basically all the content intact, shotgun excluded :(
The Xbox 360 version is longer then the PS2 version, and I could only get the shotgun in 1 level ik of in the PS2 version
Yeah, the unscripted battles of older CoD games were something else. Then they stopped for a while.
Funnily enough I actually didn't realize there wasn't a sprint button because for the online you could sprint. I must say it would be interesting if you talked about a bit the multiplayer which had a small community on Xbox 360 6 years after release.
Online had sprint? Huh. What a weird design choice. Unfortunately though, I didn't have the option of taking online footage... but not including a quick multiplayer review it is one of my biggest regrets with making this video.
during the mw3/blacks ops 2 days?
@@nickysimi9866 yeah until the summer of mw3 the only COD I was playing online was COD 3.
@@U1TR4F0RCE damn, I uad the game on xbox 360 at the time. but my 360 was broken so switched to the ps3, wish I got to play it at that point in time. I was 13 and didn't really have the means to go out and buy the game for myself on ps3
@nickysimi9866 there's still people playing it to this day.
There were several lobbies going at the same time last I checked a couple weeks back.
I think my biggest problem (besides the obvious that I played it on ps3) is that for a majority of the game I would have a BAR or something and the allies would die and not drop their Thompson or m1 and you never get ammo for your gun and are forced to take an axis gun
Want to know a CoD game most people forgot? CoD Finest Hour, now that is one I have legitimately never heard anyone talk about.
I never understood why this game got so much hate. I really enjoyed it and became genuinely attached to the characters. I played it on the original Xbox and any hardware issues were negligible.
Maybe because it's a buggy game or whatsoever, but I like this game too,and it's my first COD game. :)
What do you mean? It has a high critical consensus and sold over 7 million copies
I loved it too , first playing it on the ps2 when young and came back to it on the 360 recently
Sales doesn’t mean everyone who played it liked it tho….
You have not played every Call of Duty, you're missing WaW: Final Fronts, Call of Duty 2: Big Red One, Call of Duty: Finest Hour
Only 189 subscribers???????? How is that possible!!! You deserve much more! Thank you so much for this video, Call of Duty 3 deserve to be as famous as the first and second COD games! I wish they'd release a pc version one day :(
I remember playing online of this when I was like 9 in 2013
Cod 3 still one of my favorites on my PlayStation 2
Has the best theme song at least imo
i agree
I played this on a Wii
Silent_Wolf YT Me too
Same I never finished it but I remember having the game when I was probably 7 or 8
@@mericamotorsport5832 same
This was my First Call of Duty I’ve ever played and my second game I bought for the PlayStation 2, I will always love this game. I have so many good memories playing this game and I pray that they remaster the story
I would love it if they hired some cheap studio and made some sort of a classic Call of Duty collection with all the PS2 CODs and 1, 2 and 3. They don't even have to be the same quality as MW remasters. But I'm sure that wouldn't justify the cost of development and there's also probably not enough of us who would care about this :/
They should have scrapped the Wii version and released the pc one instead. The mods for this game could have been awesome imo
Amazing video, nice to see a review on one favorite of my childhood games. Looking forward to seeing new uploads!
I have always loved this game, my only regret is that I never had access to online when this game was popular 😢
Well, this was an ok game...
shut the fuck up modern games kid its best cod ever
Rodrigez I’m not a modern games kid, I’m a world at war and black ops guy
@@savagecreature well you must say its an ok game dump
Rodrigez what I meant is that the game itself isn’t as bad as cod 1 or 2, I just think it’s enjoyable but weaker than the following games
@@savagecreature well sorry then
Call of Duty big red one is my all-time favorite, I never got bored of the game even after I've played it several hundred times. The same can be said for Call of Duty 3.
You deserve more subs amazing vid man this is a channel I look forward to watching more videos by this guy
Wow! Thanks my dude!
Cod 2 and 3 were my way in the door to call of duty. And cod 3 was awesome at the time it had vehicles classes a good campaign and a really fun at its time multiplayer. It was so funny running from tanks in a motorcycle or me and my friends would make up a game where someone was either a sniper or on a mounted machine gun and had to kill us b4 we reached his spot. Great memories!
Extremely enjoyable video. Subscribed and I'll be looking for more videos of this kind!
Oh wow! Thank you!
well done video. subscribed
Thank you! More on the way
I don’t care what anyone says, as a kid, this game was awesome
You missed, Call duty Finest Hour, Big Red One, and Ultra rare obscure PS2 World at War.
Roads To Victory as well
Thank you guys for clicking the video!
Consider liking and subscribing - I'll be doing many more like this in the future.
Play it on a 360
DISCLAIMER: a lot of the issues that were spoken of do not exist on the Xbox 360 and Xbox one ports
I really liked this video and agree with a lot of your points maybe except the soundtrack bit being forgettable in my opinion which i felt was a bit decent at best.
The issue it not used that often in the levels that much and sometimes there is looping related issues i noticed.
Sure World at War kinda improved in it music department, i always prefer the more rambo esque soundtrack that was done by the son of Jerry Goldsmith.
I do liked a lot of World at War atmospheric compositions in the game, but i felt this was the last COD experience that kinda have a proper orchestral soundtrack and then the other entries become more electronic and atmospheric which is not a bad thing.
Great video overall, i hope to see more do more content like this.
i remember when this game first got announced and it wasnt for pc, i was so salty i didnt play any cod game for years.
Hoping for more content I've enjoyed all your videos!
To be honest when he said cod 3 bridged the gap between cod 4 and 2 whats on my mind is an image of soldiers going across a bridge and the crossers name is cod 2 and on the other side is cod 4 while the bridge is uh... Well cod 3 which is sad because no one talks about it that much 😭 but you are a hero for me you changed it for me you are the best.
Whenever I think of something heroic, I think of CoD 3 main menu theme. It's literally engrained in my mind. Truly an underrated masterpiece!
Odličan video brate!
Hvala ti momčino
I play This Game on PlayStation 2 and I love This Game so much I still consider it to be my Favorite Call of Duty game of All Time, I never really had Glitches, maybe once or twice, but they were really forgettable, I loved the characters, the Missions, and the Jeep and tank driving was a lot of fun. These Kids these days will never understand how much fun and enjoyable this game was, I’ll never forget this game and once in a while I’ll set up the PS2 just so I can play it again, I’ve played this game over 27 times maybe more. I didn’t really care that the graphics weren’t that good on PS2, it was still really good when it first came out at the time, if I can recommend anything, just give it a try, you might like it, I loved it!!!
If I am correct that Polish Tank Mission where you kill an ace tanker is based off Michael Wittman’s Death
Yup, that's right!
My first Call of Duty. It might not be great by today’s standards but it still has a special place in my heart.
As crazy as this is, this was my first call of duty and I had it on the Wii I loved it cause it’s all I had as a child. Call of Duty 3 started it all for me🤘🤘🤘
this games 1 year younger than me
I’ve lately been curious about CoD 3 since I’ve never played it. I was surprised at how little videos people have made about this entry, so this deep-dive is certainly appreciated. Made me decide to buy it on the Xbox store.
Nice video made me feel like a kid again, earned my sub
This video deserves a lot views for the amount of work you put into it
Thank you man!
@@djangovic3157 No problem bro!
Nobody talks about it because nobody got to play it outside of Console owners.
With that being the fact of it all, it's been virtually forgotten.
I mean, even the wolfenstein games all mostly are on PC, too.
I used to play this campaign a few times a year as a teenager. I always felt it was one of the best CoD storylines out there and I remember certain missions and story moments like it was yesterday. Call of Duty games are what got me into WWII history and CoD 3 launched a lot of googling and book reading for me back in the day.
You deserve way more subscribers, keep it up👍
Cod3 was my first ever cod. Had it on the Wii and 360. Got me into cod and I’m not disappointed
There is another forgotten call of duty (even you missed it on this video) which was XBLA and PS3 called Call of Duty Classic, I pretty sure this is just revamped Call of Duty 1, but nevertheless it’s still forgotten about in todays world
What a lovely review.
Call of duty 3 is the forgotten call of duty. Call of Duty World at War Final Fronts: “Am I a joke to you?”
Final Fronts was trash. It kinda deserves to be forgotten.
I remember being a kid and making lists of all the weapons featured in each mission in the game.
Unfortunately no one plays the online part anymore. It was one of my first ps3 games andd my first online experience and it was so damn cool during that time.
Years later i played it on xbox360 with my brother. Online was so much better there. You could play in splitscreen online! And there were much more maps. The difference was mindblowing for me.
BTW thanks for the throwback ;)
My first cod, crazy how far we’ve come
I played this on xbox360
Saw this video as a ad on another video... have to say I’m so glade I clicked on it
The one thing I am sad about that I will probably never see ever is that we won't see a lot of the old Call or Duty games remastered or atleast ported over to PC
I remember when i was a kid i was fucking scared of the wounded soldier in the intro cut-scene, now looking back at it I still have a bit of trauma
Amazing channel subscribed
Thanks Brandon! Means a lot. Next video is in the making
"THE MONSTER RICHTERS TANK" has lived in my head rent free since I was a kid
Darn the PS3 and its Cell Processor, if it was not so hard to code for it would have been just as good as the Xbox 360 maybe even slightly better. Don't get me wrong I love my PS3 but most of the Call Of Dutys and plenty of other 3rd party games never really ran great all through out that console generation. Sure they got better but not by much, not like on the 360.
I also bought a 360 just this week and it will arrive on saturday. I got it because I would like to compare graphics and preformance for certain titles compared to the PS3. I bought it for 120 US dollars got all the necessary cables, a controller and 2 games. So, a pretty good deal I thought.
When Your Friend Punches And Starts Writing And You Punch Him
When?
What about Call of Duty: Finest Hour, also a console exclusive for the PS2 generation of consoles
It’s two things in my opinion.
1. Both its predecessor and successor are much better. 2 is an epic of WWII shooters, and 4 is one of the most highly regarded shooters in general.
2. Treyarch would make a much better WWII game with World at War that had a very unique, chilling flavor of Call of Duty.
All of it overshadowed the third entry.
Quite nostalgic I played it on the ps2 myself when I was young curiously I didnt seem to run into a lot of the issues you said
21:55 hearing Reznov monologue over that cheery music is hilarious 🤣
I have to say though despite my nostalgia for this and Big Red One, they're both telling of my problem with the Treyarch series as a whole; the gameplay always feels slightly off...the A.I is always just a bit too dumb... the gun sounds are always wimpy....and as others such as Dwterminator and Noah Caldwell-Gervais have pointed out: the Treyarch games always feel gamey, like they're always pushing you to the next set-piece.
Infinity Ward on the other hand - whether it be cod 2, Ghosts, Infinite Warfare or whatever - always flows better.
Take the cliffhanger level from Mw2; that whole level is a scripted set piece, yet I bet you never actually noticed it.
Whereas a Treyarch game would have heavy metal blasting over you climbing the cliff, followed by ridiculously loud operatic music playing while you jump on a snowmobile.
Although he doesn't do it to compare the Infinity Ward to Treyarch - I highly recommend Lorerunners playthrough of Mw1 (the first one he did a few years back) he points out how well the game flows and the perfect choice of music and silence
honestly one of my favorites and my first entry to cod lmao
and to this day the campaign ending makes me sigh in sadness that the fun is over
I never forgot this game and will probably never will
My first CoD, played on the Wii before converting to Xbox. Still a gem, a game truly worth remastering. Shame they're so fixated on MW. Loved the gimmicky mechanic to operate artillery in this game. Made it "feel" as though I was operating a heavy weapon. Rotating the analog sticks to simulate cranking an AT gun or mortar either vertically or horizontally is absolute gold, imo. That's just one thing to praise this game for though, there are plenty of others. Robichaud isn't a fav of mine due to his bullying and mockery of Baron (something that eventually gets that boy killed). I'm a sucker for defensive missions, so Mont Ormel is probably my favorite. The atmosphere and score in that mission continually degrades your moral until the the Canadians arrive and said moral sky rockets. That and the fact your playing with a bunch of Poles, gotta love 'em!
Man does that theme take me back.. This was my first Call of duty and FPS… it gave me a love for the history of the Second World War.. It never got the attention it deserved as a game.
Loved this game because it has you play as the Canadians and polish no other game ever has
I aas obsessed with this game as a teen. I was always in the top 10 for a year. Highest was 4th place in the world. I loved everything about the game.Wish they re-made it.
The fact that COD3 was for the Ps2 and had full multiplayer support is why I got into shooters at all. It was the first shooter I ever beat, and then when I found out how to get my PS2 online, it was the first time I ever experienced multiplayer gaming.
Will we ever get a cod 2 and 3 remaster? I hope they bundle them with a WaW remaster. Sort of like a world war 2 collection. Would be so awesome to be able to play cod 2 and 3 with populated lobbies again. Great video by the way.
This was my first COD and one of my favorites.
Played it on Ps2. And it felt great in my memory. And the story was so great. I really miss it!
My first call of duty! I vividly remember needing my older brothers to help with the the QTE’s 😂 still loved though
My first call of duty. Loved playing this online. And always trying to rank up in a match. Good times
cod waw ost is so good that 5 seconds of black cats footage makes me want to replay waw for the 10th time
I love this cod it’s still one of my favorites tbh I used to play Eder Dam and Rouen in the Player match multiplayer mode it was so fun playing with my parents and brother online with 4 player split screen with 20 other players capture The flag
The main menu music is FUCKING FIRE
What’s interesting is that cod 3’s graphics and animations are good for its time and still holds up a little bit.
I had it on wii and Xbox360. It always ran really well and is one of my favorite games in the franchise.
I remember playing it few times when I was little. The main issue I had with it was the frame rate (though that's expected from PS2).
This on PS2 was my introduction to gaming and, along with AoE 2, planted a love of history in me.
Call of duty 3 was my first call of duty game, I will never forget it
l love cod finest hour,i wish i could see the remake version
How can i forget my first cod and yet best one
This was the first cod I ever played first on the Wii then on the PS2 and lastly on the Xbox 360
I love CoD 3, have strong memories of it and glad it can live forever with the Xbox backwards compatibility mode.
tbh, this game looks a bit better than cod 4.
The lighting seems a bit more vibrant at times when it needs to be, its dark when it needs to be dark, the colors are RICH when in the proper areas, and the textures look a tad bit better in some or most cases but not all, and the SHADOWS look richer as well, tbh they should've stuck with this engine for world at war and maybe improved it to be better than the cod 4 engine, it probably would've looked ALOT better too I think and they could've optimized it better as well as looking good for it being the same engine as being used before cod 4's inception and porting would be easier since its practically an updated game.
The ps3 must've been a closer version to what we could've gotten on PC. I mean look at that color pop.
23:23 the multiplayer was cut from the wii
1040 x 620 or 1024 x 600 or similar is what the CoD series used for the entire life of the 360. All the games use hardware MSAA which mostly makes up for the sub-720p resolution. I think only CoD2 and Black Ops 2 use a different resolution. CoD2 because it was the first native mainline CoD release on a console. Black Ops 2 because it was a weird transition game and a swansong for the 7th gen.
For the majority of the series the PS3 did a pretty good job keeping up. There are some differences here and there but MW2 and MW3 for example were really good efforts on PS3. It started to fall apart with Black Ops 1 where the PS3 used a lower render resolution than 360, and just got worse from there. In 8th gen titles particularly the PS3 just couldn't keep pace and developer effort for it dropped off. CoD Ghosts for example is pretty much the same game between Xbox 360 and Xbox One. The visuals are dumbed down but everything is pretty much there. 360 even runs its normal CoD resolution of 1040 x 608. On PS3 the game renders at 800 x 600, and large chunks of level geometry, special effects, LOD, everything is totally missing. They just brute force chopped chunks of the game off until it ran okay. CoD Ghosts on PS3 just isn't even worth buying. Poor PS3 got abandoned early.
In retrospect CoD3 wasn't too bad. I don't ever remember it dropping blow 30FPS but it had stutters and dropped into the 30s, 40s, and 50s a lot. DigitalFoundry/Eurogamer benchmarked it. It was still a 60FPS targeted game. I think this framerate instability is what made it feel worse than it was. That said, my first playthrough of the game was on the original Xbox which targeted, and failed to maintain, 30FPS. That release was a true miracle for the console, but it was not an ideal way to play the game. The PS3 version was a massive upgrade for me and played and felt much better. A testament to how well the PS3 DID run the games considering CoD3 is one of its weakest series releases.
I absolutely loved playing this as a kid but my first was finest hour which was an experience given i still havent beat it
never forgot cod 3 since this was my first CoD
One of the first 360 games I ever played I still think it looks amazing to this day and had some of the best multiplayer I've played since still playing it on line every so often can still find matches on 360
From what I can remember, this game played really well on wii surprisingly
forgotten because for some weird reason it was not on P.C
And also the fact that modern warfare released the following year. Treyarch also developed world at war, which proves to be more popular than 3. They also made an even more obscure game: call of duty 2: big red one.
