Hi, is the code no longer working?
Tried using this code. Site doesn't think it's valid. Are we sure it's working?
@gpenrod85 let me check
Yeah no longer working
Hi Have 16 smartwing shaded with thread and use homekit and they work awesome and are a fair price compared to their competitors. Customer service is outstanding! I am very happy with my purchase.
Can you follow up on that thread 1.3 video you reference in this one? How is 1.3 integration going and the state of overall thread reliability compared to zigbee and such
Just an updated question a couple of months later.
Have you had a chance to test them directly to Thread in Home Assistant or have the blinds been updated to Matter Support?
HA version 2023.5 (just released) has thread covers support added. I do not have the hardware to test, but thought you might be interested (probably already knew!). I'm staying away from Matter, until you give it a solid reliable stamp of approval! Might be a while. Thanks for always pushing the edge, with a realistic viewpoint.
Yea. These are technically not “matter” but I have been told they are already working on a matter version.
Which motor should I get if I have a homey pro or hone assistant?
When you use the included remote after adding shades to Apple Home (HomeKit), the status doesn’t update. So my wall-mounted iPad controller shows Shades are UP, when they are down.
Do you know how to fix?
2013 Apple TV 4K as Home Hub
I don't think Thread is quite ready for prime time yet, despite it being around for quite a long time. It reminds a bit of early Zigbee where things don't quite work as expected. The blinds in themself look quite good for the price point. Just not really sure if I would go Zigbee now or wait for a little more stability from Thread
Great video! I'm seriously thinking about it. Question... I don't have an Apple Thread border router. Is the Zigbee version compatible with ZHA? (It's cheaper than the Zwave version)
Yea. Both ZHA and zigbee2mqtt. I added the zigbee2mqtt support back when I was reviewing the zigbee version of the shades so I have the most experience with it. But I have used them with ZHA. Both detect the device and the communication has been solid.
@@SlackerLabs Awesome! Thanks for the reply... You don't happen to have a discount do you?
Would love to have something like this on my Zigbee network. But Thread and Matter still aren’t working for me in HA (using SkyConnect hardware and HA 2023.12 release)
Did you succeed to add it to homekit and HA together via thread afterwards?
I appreciate the cat furniture warning!
I'm really curious about directly adding these too HA directory!!!!
No Apple in my house
So far I have only got it work after it connected to apple. Even though home assistant saw them as soon as I put them in pairing mode they just ended in error until I added them to apple home then removed them. After getting some more info from smartwings these thread ones may always be tied to apple home at least until apple home goes full matter.
So my problem is the black out features. Are you finding it is darker since you placed it over the window rather than in the window?
Yea. It does a pretty good job.
Hi, the latest beta on HomePods and Apple TVs include thread 1.3.0!
Cat furniture! 😂 beats cat-servant, cat-thumbs-for-opening-food, etc. Thank you for that. And yet another great video.
I’m only cat furniture when the wife isn’t home.
my name is Jeff! 🤣😂
I'm glad thread is solving everything like they said it would. /sarcasm
Just a quick fyi. It looks like your affiliate link got cutt off so the link actually just goes to the main site.
Anyone remember them saying thread and matter would make things easier?😂🤷♂️
Homekit over Thread these are.
Yea. I think all that hype early is going to burn them.
I did wonder if I could enable Thread on my eero, I’ll leave then!
Yea. I don’t even see a way to manage thread devices in their app. It didn’t really do anything other than break stuff.
@@SlackerLabs yeah I’ve never even turned it on before because I only had HomeKit over thread when I got it, now rocking HA 😎
I hate apple with a firey passion but looks like they have not only zigbee but they have zwave too. I may look into those. Not sure which way I would want to go. Only about a $6 difference or so between the zigbee and zwave. Nice that you can get the solar panel too.
Edit: Just priced one for a window in my living room. 29 1/2" x 53" 100% blackout safari with zwave and solar panel will cost 315.88 plus any other fees ie shipping, tax, etc. ooof. Would be worth it if I owned the place lol.
