Stationeers experiment: Heating up the hall (Furnace, Advanced Furnace, Pipe Radiators)

  • 15*15*5=1125 volume hall (max is 1200) at -141°C on Europa. How to heat it up? Three experiments. Atmospherics are fun! WARNING: You probably want to make use of the chapters - first experiment drags on, second is so-so (Still slow.), rest is fine. Btw., Furnace rumbling is sometimes too loud - I've now adjusted the audio for later videos, but this one has some crackling. And another thing: This hall's purpose is other videos - and now I'm working on one and see: There was still a window missing XD So this whole time, the room was exposed to -140°C planetary atmosphere through one hole. It's directly left of the lockers at ground level XD
    0:00:00 - Intro
    0:00:50 - Using the Furnace, CO2 Filtration pumping into the room
    Giving up after 34 minutes at -60°C. It takes WAY too long!
    0:37:15 - Using the Advanced Furnace, CO2 Filtration (first one, later two of them)
    0:48:40 - Programming simple automation to keep the pressure at threshold
    Completed after 32 minutes at 20°C. Could have been somewhat faster if we'd have used the two Filtration units right away instead of only one. (More is not advisable, as we're already pumping out unburned fuel.)
    1:09:54 - Igniting 1,050,000 moles of Vol/O2 fuel gas also works.
    Takes 30 seconds to heat (and pollute) everything to hundreds of degrees.
    1:13:14 - 76 Convection Pipe Radiators on a 960L pipe with an igniter at ~45MPa.
    Completed after 4 minutes! FOUR MINUTES! Almost all heat was exchanged via the radiators, some came with the necessary pressure relieve that pumped some CO2 into the hall.
    Conclusion: Your starter box should lean on the waste heat of an indoor Furnace, since time is an issue. But actual heating projects need actual heating devices.

    I wonder whether you could speed up the transfer of heat out of the furnace by throwing the solid blocks of CO2 back into the furnace to melt and be released out as gas again? With all that solid CO2 sitting in the room would also eventually expect the temperature of the room to stall at the melting point of the CO2 as it starts returning to gaseous state in the room

      Would be a lot of running around. Instead, I should have done what sane players do in this situation: Add pipe radiators to the furnace exhaust. Too bad I don't have a comparison of that - versus the long pipe ignitor assembly.
