Ehy guys, ciao from Milano! 👋🏻 Thank you for watching and to MAJ for having me - t’was so much fun, despite my awkwardness with cameras and rotary mixers! 🙃 Now let’s play a game: can you name all the tracks/artists that sampled these gems? 💎 P.S. When I first started thinking of a theme for this episode, my initial idea was to mix the original samples into the tracks that sampled them, but unfortunately this wasn’t possible because of C. For this reason I decided to give it a try on my own channels, where I'm gonna share these and more finds (my handle is "vittilucchi") - let’s connect there 💌 TRACKLIST: 00:10 Lonnie Smith - It’s changed (Lester 1977) 01:52 Timmy Thomas - Why can’t we live together (Glades 1972) 03:52 Steely Dan - Black cow (MCA 1977) 05:23 Michael McDonald - I keep forgettin’ (Warner Bros 1982) 07:35 Rose Royce - Ooh boy (Whitfield 1977) 08:54 Herb Alpert - Rise (A&M 1979) 12:47 Rotary Connection - Memory band (Cadet Concept 1967) 14:21 Gloria Barnes - Home (Maple 1971) 16:44 Bob James - Sign of the times (Tappan Zee 1981) 18:31 Herbie Hancock - Bring down the birds (MGM 1966) 20:11 The Undisputed Truth - (I know) I’m losing you (Gordy 1975) 21:40 Stacy Lattisaw - Attack of the Name Game (Cotillion 1982) 23:17 Jimmy “Bo” Horne - Let me (let me be your lover) (T.K. 1978) 24:58 The S.O.S. Band - Groovin’ (that’s what we’re doin’) (Tabu 1982) 26:30 Hot Cuisine - Who’s been kissing you (Prelude 1981) 28:48 Chi-Lites - Are you my woman? @@Underground-Electronic-Music I love how you added "Horrible" in front of all the pop songs that sampled these! 😂😂😂 and what a nice list of artists you mentioned!!! I'm a big fan of electro-funk and breakbeat too - gonna play with The Egyptian Lover end of July in south Italy, for Polifonic Festival. Been a huge fan of him since forever, looking forward to it! ✨
"easy choices", "super known OG tracks", "not even OG releases on the decks"... If half of the haters were really into music instead of just searching and destroy people who just play great music... ps : I'm an +50yo guy who loved finding crazy gems back in the days before digging was something, I still love playing most of thoses classics sometimes, and guess what ? I LOVED this selection. Classics are classics for some reason. Thanks Vittilucchi !
Great one !! A particular big up for Stealy Dan’s Black Cow track… One of the best records I’ve ever listened to. Too bad we didn’t hear the legendary sax solo at the end…
Amazing set! The original sample of Love Anthem by MACE and Venerus was such a good touch! Among all samples, I really appreciate the versatility of Home, both sampled by Caribou for a low-fi electronic jam or by Illa J for a more soulful rap beat.
@@Flip5ide Yes, working on it! Plan is to start sharing recorded live djsets there! Meanwhile I've started a reel series, "The Sample Life", on my other channels (vittilucchi) where I share these and more sample finds, by mixing them to the songs that sampled them. Such a fun series 😊
I learned about the original samples while record shopping at Play De Record in the early 90s. One of the guys working there turned me onto the record series Ultimate Breaks & Beats, and the rest is history!
This is such a mix, it’s been a pleasure to listen to and instantly start singing along or dancing to samples I recognize. Thank you so much, this is making my work day better!
Love Rise 9:00, the song and the whole LP. I recently discovered a decent remake of 'Rise' by Christian Morin. The only thing is he plays a clarinet lol.

What a salty and unnecessary comment that surely reflects your insufferable nature.
