    I bought my tractor with a 5ft bush hog and a frontier rake... I use it mostly to clear weeds over 1ft tall, and so far I think I'm far more comfortable with the rake. One because it pulls a good chunk of them out of the ground, and two because I don't wanna hurt that mower if I run into rocks or god knows what else... I honestly didn't expect to use the rake as much as I do... but I do. I was also pleasantly surprised by how cheap replacement tines are online... after seeing that, I pushed mine a bit harder and it still doesn't care. They are incredibly useful.
    My only gripe is that it more or less scrapes the topsoil revealing more rocks than it actually gathers up... lol. I wish I would have bought a rock bucket instead of the bush hog :)

    Thank you, I started out wanting a Frontier rake, but this one was on the lot, ready to go. I bought it and have never regretted purchasing the Tarter brand.

    When I use my 6' rake in the timber I just remove the pin and let the rake free float and if it hits a tree and rolls off then it straightens out on its own.

    Bill. I watched this video several times and a few other videos several times as well. I am going to purchase a landscape rake and wanted to get a feel of what various jobs the rake will do for a rake owner. I think you did a fine job breaking in the rake. if you're going to pay hard-earned cash for an implement, you need to know how dependable it is and what it's limitations are. Thumbs up. I just subbed your channel. Have a great week.

    • @Dan-oz4qb
      @Dan-oz4qb Před 5 lety

      I wouldn't buy forks less than 42". Once you have a set you'll discover how versatile they are and the ability to lift things further out from your tractor comes in handy.

    How has the rake held up. I have read alot of the comments on the one they sell at tractor supply, seams to be a fair amount of people that have had issues with it bending.

    • @billburkhart
      @billburkhart  Před 5 lety +1

      Hello Woody- This rake is the Tarter brand rake and I haven't had one issue with it. I'm suspicious the rakes may have been used beyond their design limitations. I recommend this brand as it has worked well for everything I've done with it.

    I was looking at the 1025r and the 2025r ,how do you like the 1025r

    • @billburkhart
      @billburkhart  Před 6 lety

      I have 75 hours on my tractor and have had it two years. I like the tractor size as it allows me to get into tight areas. It's a good machine to maintain small acreages, I have 17 acres. If you want to go into more utility work, perhaps a larger tractor should be considered. I really enjoy the machine.

    • @markmarciano7588
      @markmarciano7588 Před 6 lety

      I maintain a small amount too.15 acres. 5 of which are grass and the other 10 are woods.I think it's a great tractor for me to maintain my driveway and made some paths in the woods and some small job around the house. I'm thinking more towards the 2025R for the ground clearance for in the woods.
      thanks for your input

    • @dre04mach
      @dre04mach Před 5 lety

      don't base the size of the tractor on the size of the land... base it on what work you have to do with it. In my case I went with a 3025e - same power, but bigger wheels and tires, because the 1025r I rented spun way too easily... The 41" tires are waaaay harder to spin and I haven't loaded them yet. I am in arizona so our soil is more sandy though so your mileage may vary. Rent one, see how it works out, and go from there. :)
