Alamosa and costilla counties are definitely the cheapest place in Colorado. I bought 35 acres in Huerfano county for 84000 with lots of trees in about 4 acres of open prairie. I thought that was a really good deal

real estate agents have ruined Colorado in the last 20 years, ranches are all but gone, the Elk herd is stressed, and you can't have a place in the country without ATV's , offroad convoys, and bicyclist everywhere. Most of the counties you point at are becoming over run with Illegal aliens coming from the Border crisis. This from a Native of Colorado trying to ranch in the places you describe

try living here Routt county, Durango, Montrose, Winter park, Vail, Aspen all used to be pristine now they are unaffordable over run high priced and just nasty to try to live in. no thanks, we live here we know@@CompassLandUSA
