Fantastic video 👏 I once got a none conformance for a bit of rust. (Thin as a pencil, 2cm long) on a water heater 🤦♂️ To say farmer dislike red tractor is a understatement. Might do a video on my experience with them 😂
Thanks Tom!! I once got one because I was using "scented" soap in my milking parlour! If you do a RT video you should defiantly focus on the mental health toll it takes on farmers, its a part of the story which is very under represented. Its not like a traditional company having to do an audit, its a FAMILY business, its personal, its like auditors coming into peoples homes and checking every tiny detail of how they live their lives.
Great video, love the farm tidy up. Sounds like your father has the same mentality of mine. Through nothing out🤦♂️. As for red tractor, the only good red tractor is a Massey.😁😁
Great video, all completely true what you're saying about red tractor. Keep up the good work on this and maybe you I'll convince enough farmers we don't need all the Hilters we have to deal with for the few scraps they throw our way.
Red tractor I think is now every farmers worst day of the year it’s getting to the point that you know your going to fail so might as well not bother trying to pass. An ex inspector told me that they give bonuses for no compliance but definitely have a quota to reach. I was actually looking forward to part of the inspection when he ask me about what greening I would be taking up in the future because I have entered 90% of my arable land into wild bird mix and will not need an arable inspection next year for red tractor. On the vet and med I only have sheep, and a one man operation, so I made a spreadsheet on my iPad that also works on my iphone so I can do my medical records in the field straight away and it’s stored in the cloud and appears on my iPad. If red tractor could make an app so that all red tractor tick boxing could be done on a phone or tablet and do away with the inspectors I would happy for it to continue but in its present format I think a mass walk out is coming.
Your sub up of red tractor is correct Andrew . I have been angry about red tractor since last year getting struck off for disagreeing with them on one issue to do with not moving stock out electronically and using mc1 permits , but registering in electronically. Stopped milk collecting immediately unless I signed a grovel letter that they were correct yet I know and provided proof they are incorrect on their demand .the mental anguish they cause is over the top and must be stopped. Total control is what they want yet the food standards agency who provide our milk licensing and inspect farms regularly are treated as beneath red tractor which is wrong . I think it’s about money and the supermarkets are paying red tractor to play their tune .
90% of consumers don't care if its red tractor, quality assured or any other scheme. Its all about the shelf price for them. These audits are bigger health risk to some farmers than actual farming itself. The carrot is well gone, but the stick will last forever, now is your chance to break it!.
You have a few red tractors to sort out. Concrete makes a big difference on a working farm with cattle and heavy machinery. My father was fed up with muck and ruts so he put down about an acre of concrete in the 1970's over stone yards and roadways and even over some ancient cobbles and it is still doing a great job so you can look at it as a very long term investment.
I know a man and the inspector asked if we would have enough silage to see him through, he said he had bought a few bales. When it came to the book work he got a non conformance for not having it in his feed book 🤣🙈
Your power issue may be the lift pump that the oil is leaking below, ive had to change a few of these on masseys with power problems, not expensive to replace
Great to hear you speak so well about the despicable rt racket. How about a mass resignation day?!! June 21st I say. No reform....start from scratch....farmer led. Up with the BFU
Now you mention it, I may have heard that. Its a pretty bleak time to be a farmer tbh, we are all working hard to keep feed the general public for rock bottom prices and they have zero appreciation for what we do.
This is probably going to ruffle a few feathers but vote with your feet pull out of the red tractor and pull out of the nfu! It's better to have short term pain in my opinion than slowly suffocating!
Questions for you on Red Tractor as someone who only sees it in a shop. If all UK farmers pulled out of RT whose problem would it be? What would happen? What would Dale Farm do instead of collecting milk? Can an individual farmer sell non-RT milk (if he had a customer of course) or in your particular case (location wise) export your milk to Europe?
RT was allowed to take total control of the supply chain, that's made it impossible for farmers to not comply. It's a real example of an unelected dictatorship. It will take a revolution to bring them down. RT don't add anything to British Agriculture anymore, of they failed tomorrow it would make zero difference to the consumer.
@FarmTheoryNI I've had enough off them, prevented me selling stock twice this year 24hr notice, all stupid mistakes at their end on computer and no wish to rectify, last one was being given another man herd number,I basically had to yell down phone to get them to stop lying and fix it,as wasn't on the system.....Good work Andrew and I shared links about that red tractor chief resigning but youtube are deleting it,plus link of bill gates meeting boris Johnson and his 400million green agenda ,go look it up,both stories
SPOT ON!!! ITS TOTALLY CRAZY! We are held to these stupid standards because they are so "important" and then our price is capped at world market levels because of imports.
Of course they didn't go to the vet and say why did you not provide a ticket with medicines administered and reason for the farmer to put in the medicine book.
I'm launching a new accreditation scheme for the humane treatment of farmers. I think the HTF logo (tbd) on a product would have greater market interest than RT. Farmers must ensure they only interact with accredited accreditation schemes. Terms will start simple: 28 days notice of any mutually agreed in person visits, must answer the phone between 6am and 10pm 7 days &c. It is foreseeable that over the years this will need tightened up to include, say, being nice to the postie, clapping the dog, bringing coffee and a Danishs. Birthday presents and flowers for the good lady would be optional, initially. Naturally full carbon accounting for any coffee, cakes and cut flowers would need to be available &c&c. Goer?
We have been hit with TB here in Co. Clare in the Republic Of Ireland 16 times in 25 years. We were getting about 12 % of the market value for suckler type livestock. We were getting €90.00 for livestock with a market value of €750.00. Now; This speaks to the same thing in that we had to reduce our financial risk and exposure very, very fast or we were facing unviable financial losses. Now, we have a lot less skinny Screws around the place. If they were all brought for nothing in the morning, it wouldn't make one bit of difference. Farmers need to carefully, carefully manage the risk they are taking.
@@FarmTheoryNI; not a notion. They are absolutely rotten with corruption down here. Another side point; we call our local veterinary surgeon Joe Snow. Now; that is not because he likes shovelling snow in the Winter. His house is the only one that suffers snow blizzards all year round even in June 😂😂😂😂😂. You know Andrew; you speak for the majority of farmers, possibly even across the globe when you speak off our injust treatment by multibillion euro concerns.
here is an idea , get the supermarkets to release a price structure for green farm initiative , less carbon , more money , make them put a number to it and see who thinks it is acceptable
@@FarmTheoryNI they do. Farmers hav always been told what to do and they just done as they wer told. We need a proper farmer union wer the heads hav nothin to do with heads of creamery’s factory’s heads of any of theses schemes.

Red tractor does nothing for farmers, they are weak and ineffective. They need reformed or binned.

Great video, I'm farming in southern Ireland and you could replace the words red tractor with board bia and it would be perfectly accurate.

Agree with everything you said! Had exactly the same situation with my herd list, its a joke. Law onto themselves.

What a great comment, you get it! Retailers would never treat their staff like they are encouraging RT to treat farmers.
Nice big yard to work on 👌
Im a lakeland supplier in the south and if your not with bord bia, no milk collection

well said

I'm going to answer "no comment" to all questions next year, if its legal to do so to the police surly it must be okay for RT?!
Powermax engineering cookstown for your engine issues would be a good shout👍🏻
Good suggestion
Good video. Do you watch Harry's Farm? He touched on red tractor aswell today. A very clever man with alot of media experience.
I did! Great to have someone like him speaking out also. Make the issues so much more credible.

Thank you! Farmers have the power, we just need to use it!
Comment for the algorithm to help the channel 👍.
Thanks for that!
red tractor clearly is not fit for purpose. great video !!!!
Thank you!! It's absolutely not fit for purpose! I must do another video on it!
RT don't give a monkeys about the farmer! It's all about control and low cost food production. The farmer pays the price mentally and monetarily.
Andrew do you know that the NI Department of Agriculture was not represented at The Ploughing this year? For the first time I believe.
Now you mention it, I may have heard that. Its a pretty bleak time to be a farmer tbh, we are all working hard to keep feed the general public for rock bottom prices and they have zero appreciation for what we do.

You can’t sell your milk if you do, everyone would need to do it at once but everyone’s expiry date to red tractor is different
Yeah, they have total control now. RT is now somehow required to sell milk in the UK. My farm would be out of business.

When Dale farm not allowed process non red tractor then supermarkets shouldn't be allowed to import any dairy products what so ever

all foreign food imported has no checks and just mixed in with are food which has all red tractor checks

does grass sequester more or less co2 than a forest, but can u eat a tree. Ruminants eat grass, humans eat meat and milk.@@FarmTheoryNI

correct and as the carbon cycles around food is produced, humans need food. The tree huggers starve and die.@@FarmTheoryNI

Thwart tare job
How come u don t feed out with feeder wagan
We graze most of the year so our system has to work without one.
Why do u have so many tractors like do u even need them all I’d say they are handy at silage but other than that do u need all them
Its a luxury to have so many, we often will be using 3/4 in summer.
