  • If you are familiar with the situation on the modern market of electric vehicles, then you know that the majority of zero emission transport is being produced by companies from the United States, Asia and Europe. Over the past years, manufacturers from India have been ramping up their research and development efforts too and we can witness a true spark of interest towards zero emissions vehicles in this region too.
Even though Japan has a reputation of a powerful player in the world of car, motorcycle and scooter manufacturing, Japanese brands seem to be arriving to the party with a significant delay. However, it seems that the 2022 model year will become a turning point in the future of Japanese scooter manufacturing, at least for one brand - Yamaha.
Yamaha motor company has recently announced the 'Switch On' campaign that aims at bringing a range of battery-electric two-wheelers over the next few years.
Since our channel is closely monitoring all news that come from the world of electrified vehicles, we talked about this and similar debuts here: • Electric motorcycles, ...
Also don't forget to watch our video dedicated to maxi scooters: • This New Electric Maxi...
In this video presentation we are sharing information about Yamaha's upcoming E01 model with two person carrying capabilities. We are talking about the two-wheeler's rumored specifications, sharing powertrain details and estimated range autonomy data. As a bonus, we compared this model to smart scooter alternatives that are already on sale today:

Electric scooters have a long way to go before they can reach the points that allow them to function in Australia. That sums up their problems that no manufacturer can or has addressed.

The World's market is a big place. It doesn't just consist of Australia. They'll probably sell this in markets they know it will prove popular in...... Honda must have sold literally millions of their C50, 70 and 90 commuter step-through's since the 60's. Those probably wouldn't sell well in Australia either.... They will sell these by the boat load in cities such as Paris, London, and Berlin, where emissions regulations are savage, and parking restrictions are crazy.....even if you find one.

@@Datacube what riding experiences? I'm biker myself for 14 years. What experience can give me slow moving electric bin? While parallel competition electric bicycles have the same speed, much cheaper, easy to maintain, no parking needed, no insurance, no road registration, can ride everywhere. etc etc. As for electric mopeds then Talaria and Sur Ron much better, upgraded Sur Ron can already reach 80mph! Considering how light it is.

Buyers beware!: the promotion that "this one doesn't need a license to use!" is more of a legal dodge by the reseller and a curse for the owner, than an actual promotional point. In most states, Titles aren't necessary for this class of vehicle and IS NOT PROVIDED by the DMV. Once you realize the miserable top speed's been artificially dialed down in the speed ctrl box by the manufacturer, you'll likely want to dial it back up. After that, you may want a stronger motor & better amperage. Fine, but this poses a legal problem, as it puts the scooter into a higher regulatory class which DOES require a license & registration. But if you were never given a Title in the first place, (nor a Certificate Of Mfr) you'll have a near-impossible time registering the scooter legally. It is CRITICAL that any buyer obtain a Title from the DMV, or failing that, a Certificate Of Manufacture from the reseller. Otherwise you are basically screwed.

    • @Brian-om2hh
