Sammy was extremely talented but Tom's pipes and technique are unparalleled. One of the most enduring and active singers ever and still has the voice. A powerhouse in his peak that very few could come close to, Sammy sadly not being the case.
I find this version so touching..I love how Sammy Davis Jr. personalizes the lyrics by addressing Tom. And the finale shows the depth of their friendship. Their hug is so moving at the end!

Tom Jones, The Rat Pack, Nat King Cole, Englebert Humperdink, Roger Miller and others were always among the records my Mom had playing constantly on the Magnavox console stereo when I was a kid. Daddy was an electrical engineer who loved to enhance equipment, so he replaced the speakers in that console for some really powerful ones (I think she may have blown out the originals!). I'm so glad my Mom loved GOOD music. When I was @ 10 years old, I had a friend over when Mom broke out her newest record album to play so we could hear her new favorite song. It was James Brown, "I Feel Good!" My friend said she wanted to trade moms. LOL! No way! I know how lucky I am! In the 80s, she was a Michael Jackson fan too. She sang very well, but it was hysterical to hear this old Southern white lady singing "Billie Jean is not my loooover..." in her lovely soprano voice. I miss her so much, but listening to the music she loved helps.

that joker 2 trailer definitely put me onto what the world needs now by Sammy Davis and Tom Jones. Way too good. I almost cried hearing that song in the trailer. Nothing else about the movie made sentimental, but I can tell based off that song along that Joker 2 is gonna be a tearjerker for many.
