Better to hold it and initiate land with the controller. Motors will power off.
It will save stress on the motors when they briefly fight to level against your force to flip it over.
Absolutely. This feature is good to know for emergencies when landing normally isn't possible.
just land in the palm of your hand. Gyro shutdowns aren't good for the motors or hardware. If you fumble, hesitate or make any mistake, unfriendly terrain will be the least of your worries.
I've heard about this as well re the normal DJI drones
That's what I do. Helps to have bigger hands
I just got mine. I have done that method a few times because my dog tries to eat it when I land. I wonder if that works in Manual mode?
Don't try it, Mike! I lost the tip of my finger trying that last year. It will not work in manual mode.
@@SunriseWaterMedia
Always disable motors and catch it when it's close, much safer.
If you have to kill it from manual mode. You can double tap the start stop button. But it will freefall and you'll literally need to catch it.
If you're unsure just flip to normal mode and land it in your hand like a regular Gimbal Drone.
@@SunriseWaterMedia I got lucky and just got the tip. It hurts to type. Mine got very angry when I attempted this
Beware that the avata series has propellers that won’t stop if you put your finger in there
Learned that the hard way. 😂 czcams.com/video/hAlirGHUtaA/video.htmlsi=eLhe7vzCG-yYVN_q
I have hand landed my Avata 2 every single time so far lol yet my leg is all chopped up from those props! 😂
Ha! Go figure! 😂
@@SunriseWaterMedia I really thought props would have a hard time getting to me but obviously they didn't.
This is not the way. Just place your open palm a few inches below the drone and then tell it to land.
Yes, that's ideal, for sure. Grabbing it out of the air and flipping it over is only for emergencies.
I can see that in an emergency situation.
Good to know because mines don't land good
How bad is it going to be if the propellers hit your fingers?
It could be bad! Here's a first hand experience, losing the tip of a finger to the Avata 1. czcams.com/video/hAlirGHUtaA/video.htmlsi=BkMzu1TdoJI7K5cw
I've been doing that just for GP
wow it is very silent in comparison to avata 1
Only if I’m soaked in the water ill do that😂
That'll clarify as an emergency!
just land it right in your hand, not problem at all, actually much easier with avata2 than it'^s with mini series, propeller are above on the body , not possible to touch in your hand. i always hand take off and land my avata2 , never touched the train.
Now, do that with your teeth 😂😂😂
He would be speechless afterwards! 😮
The first Avada, I do this all the time with, the second one is low profile, and be careful doing this with the motion controller because you’re not thinking you move your hand and I cut my finger and the palm of my hand next to my thumb really bad, it broke up propeller. Number two is not designed for this at all the first one has a lot more room to grab.
Yes, this " hand grab" landing is only for emergencies.
This Motion Controller 3 actually has a safely feature, so if you move your hand, the drone won't move unless you are slightly pressing the accelerator.
or you're at a meetup and you want to mess with the guy flying his new toy a little close 😅
**Note to self: Do not fly near Brett** 😅
@@SunriseWaterMedia well not that "I" would do it... but I know a guy of whom you know, this guy... 🥹
@@lambo_drives Haha! Understood 😄👊
BTW, never, never do this with a real FPV drone😂
And never in Manual Mode on the Avata either! 😯
@@readysetdronewhy is that?
@@AkalaFPS I'm not sure, but it might have to do with the fact that you're the one manually controlling the drone, and it not hovering in place like this, and not shutting the motors down automatically.
Is this impacting motors long-term given they go nuts for short moment to counteract thus manevour?
Yes, it's not recommended to do this all the time, but it is good to know whenever you need to quickly stop the motors in normal or sport modes in an emergency.
Problem is nobody mentions this and everybody copies everybody with this approach and ofcourse gets used to it due to convenience (especially popular mavic drones).
Tbh. I fly since many years and myself only read about this in a comment the other day and realised it makes completely sense, will avoid this and only use when really needed. User should be made aware of this implication, besides risk of getting hurt.😂
Just put a finger in the props
Tried that by accident with the Avata 1 and lost a fingertip! Made a video about it.
i heard that the board doesnt like that to much the older ones anyway any truth i wonder?
That makes sense, as this is meant only for emergencies.
„FPF” drone without acro 😂
Don't do that, use your hand as ground and land.... This may stress everything and your drone is stuffed
Too much stress on the motors.
Yep. But in an emergency, it's a good thing to know.
Why not just hand land it
Landing it is ideal, but if the ground is rocky or grassy, or if there's a dog wanting to try to eat it, or if you're on a rocking boat, etc., it might be better to catch it.
